Dressed in a pair of rather loose fitting jeans that were way too long for her and folded at the ends, as well as a white turtleneck top covered with a low, v-necked and cropped blue plaid sweater, Miyeon quite clearly wasn't in her uniform as she headed towards school, dragging a suitcase behind her.
"If you keep making so much noise with that I'm going to take it for you." Suho grumbled besides her, and Miyeon rolled her eyes.
Since the Hwang girl had moved in with her ex-best-friend-turned-friend-again, the pair had been going to school together, splitting apart as they got closer to Saebom High.
And the morning of their field trip was no different, Suho and Miyeon leaving the house in their casual clothes and getting to school together, getting on the same bus and then walking the rest of the way together.
It seemed that Suho was yet to get annoyed at her constant chatter, and Miyeon theorised that he was just quite happy to have the company, and at least one of his old close friends talking to him.
Miyeon wasn't going to point this out, and just continued aimlessly chatting to him, about absolutely anything she could think of. There were lapses of silence when she realised just how much she had been babbling, but it seemed that Suho was forming more than one sentence at the time.
Jugyeong had quite the effect on him, it seemed. Miyeon hadn't meant to snoop, but she had found a necklace with a swan on it as she was helping Suho pack and he had disappeared for a moment. And she knew it wasn't for her, or Soojin - and so by process of elimination, she had landed on Jugyeong.
As her mind drifted over the topic of Suho's future gift to Jugyeong, it seemed that something was listening, because as Suho and Miyeon turned a corner, she saw Jugyeong crossing the road.
"Stay here for a little bit." Miyeon instructed Suho, before rushing off after her best friend. "Good morning Heekyung!" She called, passing Jugyeong's older sister stood outside her car.
"Oh - Miyeon, just a moment." Heekyung caught her shoulder, and the girl stopped in her tracks, turning to the eldest Im sister with a smile on her face. "Have you given my suggestion any thought?"
The Hwang girl stared at her for a moment, trying to remember what she was talking about - before she realised and faltered. Heekyung had called her to meet her at a cafe quite close to her arrival back in Seoul, just after she had found out she was Jugyeong's sister.
Heekyung had told her how she had met up with Seojun, asking if her was Leo, because they wanted to release a song that Seyeon had written with Leo. Seojun had told her it wasn't him - and it wasn't. And decided to trust him, Heekyung had turned to Miyeon to try and find out who it was.
"I'm sorry, I have no idea." Miyeon shrugged. And again, she was lying. She definitely knew who Leo was, but she wasn't just about to give up his identity. "Say hi to your mom for me."
And with that, Miyeon pulled her suitcase away, heading after Jugyeong and catching up to her just before they got to the field where everyone was waiting. "Im Ju!" She exclaimed, linking their arms. "Are you excited?"
"Yep - and you look really happy as well." Jugyeong replied, and the corners of Miyeon's lips turned up in a smile as they walked past all those being punished for alcohol.
"I have some hidden in my suitcase - I don't know what they were thinking having it openly on them." Miyeon whispered to Jugyeong, who giggled.
They unlinked arms as they got to Sooa, Taehoon and the others, Miyeon somehow being roped into taking pictures with Sooa as they waited to leave, doing all sorts of poses and leaving Miyeon smiling - she hadn't really taken any pictures in a while, and it was actually rather fun.
Miyeon quickly moved away when she saw Taehoon approach, laughing when she saw their matching jackets and stood beside Jugyeong, leaning over her shoulder and looking down at the phone.
"You guys look adorable." Jugyeong commented, taking several more photos of the posing couple.
"Gosh, what an eyesore." Hyunkyu whined as he watched the couple being all cringy and cute. "I should also get myself a girlfriend."
"If you had any control over that, you wouldn't still be single." Sihyun was stood beside him, and pushed his shoulder.
Miyeon moved to stand next to Soojin, linking their arms with a smile as Hyunkyu replied to Sohyun, making a comment about her hat and comparing her to Kim Satgat.
Seojun approached the group, tapping Jugyeong on the opposite shoulder to which he was stood by, Jugyeong glancing over that one before looking over to him.
"Are you guys also going out?" Hyunkyu asked, and Miyeon peered over at them, realising with a start that they were both wearing black and white striped shirts.
"Did you guys wear matching outfits to announce that you're a couple?" Sooa looked at the two, and in the moment it took for Seojun and Jugyeong to realise that they were matching, Miyeon's stomach had twisted itself into knots.
"No way." Jugyeong denied it as Suho approached them, standing just apart from where Miyeon and Soojin were.
"Im Jugyeong, I feel like that's what you had in mind." Seojun replied, digging his hand into his pocket, the other one holding his jacket. He leaned in, a slight smirk on his face. "Did you want to be my girlfriend that badly?" Seojun nudged her, Jugyeong slowly leaning away. "How about we just date?"
"What's the matter with you?" Jugyeong exclaimed, pushing him away. "Wear your jacket!" She demanded, and the pair bickered back on forth as Seojun's reply was that he wouldn't - it was hot.
"Should I draw stripes on your shirt?" Taehoon had dashed over to Suho, and Miyeon stared at him, extremely confused about what she had just heard.
"Hey Suho." Soojin said, looking over to her friend and finally alerting Jugyeong, Seojun and the rest of them to the Lee boy's presence.
Suho just seemed to stare at them, and Miyeon shook her head, the first to pull away from the group as it was announced they were leaving.
Piling onto the bus, Miyeon slipped into a seat, the others finding their own around her, watching as Soojin sat down with Suho, and then Jugyeong made her way to the back, Seojun sitting down beside her.
Chants for Seojun and Jugyeong to date rose in the back of the bus, and those nearer to the front turned to look back at them, Miyeon keeping her gaze forward, with a somewhat guilty sigh.
And feeling bad about the jealous, twisting and turning guilt, Miyeon smiled up at the boy who asked if he could sit next to her, and spent the entire journey unravelling the knot that has formed in her stomach.
