Their exams were here, and Miyeon had began to use every single moment of her free time studying. And as she headed to yet another exam, her literature one, she muttered under her breath things she had memorised.
She hesitated as she turned the corner, spotting Seojun and Jugyeong talking on the ramp. Waiting until the boy walked away, she practically jumped over to her best friend.
"Was he bothering you?" Miyeon asked, catching up with the girl. "If he does I can talk to him for you?"
"Oh - no it's fine, don't worry." Jugyeong said, and the two walked together up to the classroom, Sooa already in her seat as Jugyeong sat in hers, Miyeon leaning against the desk next to her.
"Did you bring a black marker?" Jugyeong asked, Sooa holding up her one that she borrowed. "You should've told me, I brought three." The Im girl held up the pens, looking over to Miyeon when she gasped.
"Im Jugyeong, you're a life-saver." Miyeon said, eyes wide. "Could I borrow one, pretty please?" A smile broke out on her face as Jugyeong quickly uncapped one, testing it on a bit of paper and handing it to her.
"Did you study a lot?" Miyeon asked, looking between the two girls, getting a nod from Jugyeong and the opposite from Sooa.
"I go with three if I don't know the answer. You two should go with three too, if you don't know the answer." Sooa advised. "It always goes well with three."
"No, I can solve them all." Jugyeong spoke confidently, looking determined as she clipped her hair back.
With words of good luck from the both, Miyeon made her way back to her desk, knowing the exam would begin soon. As usual, Seojun was slumped against his desk, not even bothering with last minute studying.
And soon enough, the exam was taking place. Miyeon, despite her fear of not studying enough and being rather preoccupied with her thoughts when she was trying to, felt pretty confident after she had finished, leaving the classroom with the impression that she had done rather well.
Just like promised, Miyeon joined Jugyeong and Sooa at the baseball match, sitting together and cheering, chanting along with the others.
"What did you tell Taehoon though?" Jugyeong asked, sitting on one side of Sooa as she looked over at the girl, Miyeon peering around.
"That it was my grandma's eightieth birthday." Sooa replied with a grin, but Miyeon prodded her on the shoulder, pointing towards the aisle.
"I wish you the best of health ma'am." It was Taehoon shouting, looking down at his girlfriend. "You've must have rented out a baseball stadium for her party. Is this a celebratory game? Do you think I wouldn't know?" He held out his cellphone, and as Miyeon leaned closer to see what he was showing her, her gaze flickered to the boy stood behind Taehoon?
"Lee Suho?" She exclaimed, sounding more shocked than anything. Beside her, Sooa was accusing Taehoon of stalking her on social media.
"As if you would let me go." Sooa said. "Why are you jealouus when I said he's a friend? If I was interested in him romantically, I would've sent him a private message, not come cheering in public."
"Guys, please don't argue." Jugyeong said quickly, looking between her friend and the boyfriend.
"I never said I doubted youu, but how can I trust him to only see you as a friend too.. when you're as pretty as an angel. How could he not fall for you?"
"I guess that's true.." Sooa said, a smile on her face. "But how can I leave when I've already bought fried chicken? How can I?"
"I'm sorry." Taehoon began. "You're too cute to get angry at." Miyeon cringed.
Miyeon switched seats with Sooa, so she could be beside Taehoon, and so Suho sat beside Jugyeong. "Since when have you and Taehoon been close enough to come and watch baseball together?" Miyeon asked, looking over at Suho.
"We're good friends starting today." Suho replied, the four others glancing at each other in shock, Taehoon even offerring the boy his favourite piece of his fried chicken.
The baseball match was fun to watch, even if you weren't exactly into sport. She was probably enjoying it so much because of who she was with, and the Hwang girl spent the majority of it with Sooa and Jugyeong's arms over her shoulders, the three of them cheering together.
But as they were cheering, suddenly Miyeon and Sooa were pushed into Taehoon, Jugyeong having fallen back into them, having been pushed away by Suho - who was subjected to one of Sooa's most ruthless glares.
Following the match, the three girls walked alongside each other down the stairs, the newly good friends of Suho and Taehoon following behind. Suho turned the corner to go and throw away their rubbish, and Sooa linked her arm with Miyeon, Jugyeong doing the same as the girl was still in the middle.
"Isn't Hyungjin the best? What if he gets scouted to the big leagues?" The shorter girl was saying, jumping up and down in excitement for her friend. "Oh! Hyungjin, over here." She called as the baseball player walked by, seeing her and diverting his course.
Sooa began to move over to him, waving as Taehoon stopped her. But Hyungjin seemed to ignore her, moving straight over to the two girls. Rather quickly, Miyeon was unlinking her arm and stepping to the side, seeing that it was Jugyeong that the boy had his eye on.
"I looked everywhere for you after my last game." Hyungjin said, and Miyeon and Sooa glanced at each other, jaws dropped. "Are you Sooa's friend?"
"What?" Jugyeong glanced at Sooa, then back at Hyungjin.
"Two strikes. You're even more stunning up close." He continued, Sooa clapping her hand over her mouth and hitting her boyfriend on the shoulder. Jugyeong seemed to be speechless, and glanced over at her friends once again, Miyeon smiling at her and nodding gently.
"You're Sooa's friend, which means I'm older." Hyungjin said, a chorus coming from behind him as his team mates approached and crowded around, asking what was going on. "Can I get your number?" He held out his phone.
"My cell phone number?" Jugyeong repeated, as his team began chanting for her to do it.
"I need to get going, so hurry." The baseball player said, and as the chanting continued, Jugyeong took the phone and put in her number. "Saved. I'll be in touch."
The team followed Hyungjin as he walked away, Sooa, Miyeon and Taehoon crowding round Jugyeong, utterly speechless. "No way. Hyungjin must be head over heels for you." Sooa seemed so excited.
"Don't you know what a scary world it is?" Suho approached, not looking as happy at the situation as he could be. "Sooa knowing him doesn't make it okay. What if he's bad news?"
"What?" Jugyeong stared up at him, clearly not able to process everything quickly.
Suho seemed to falter, staring down at her. "I'll get going." He said, and with that he was walking away rather quickly, leaving the four he came with staring after him, confused.
Suho was like that sometimes, but even Miyeon who had learnt how to understand his slightly odd and cold behaviours over the years couldn't exactly figure this one out.
Unless it was the one, glaringly obvious thing she had instantly thought of. And even if it was that, she was going to keep quiet.
