After a few more hours of the four friends enjoying the festival, the night had fallen and they made their way towards the stage, standing on the rows of seats trying to decide where to sit.
"Should we watch from the front or the back?" Sooa asked, her, Jugyeong, Soojin and Miyeon all stood on a line.
"I'm tired and I'd like too.." Jugyeong began, pointing a finger behind her, saying she would like to leave.
"Don't you dare say you'll leave first." Sooa said. "Why would you go home when the highlight is yet to come?"
"She's right." Soojin said. "Stay and watch the show with us." Giving Jugyeong no other choice, the four of them made their way over to some seats that Sooa had pointed out.
After a short while of them watching, the song came to an end, and the man behind the microphone spoke. "This song isn't widely known, but it's one of the late Seyeon, who I was a big fan of. I bring you this song in the memory of Jeong Seyeon, who left this world a year ago."
Miyeon froze in her seat, just hearing the name invoking a reaction within her. Instantly, the three girls beside her glanced over, noticing the sudden jolt in the girl.
Her eyes wouldn't leave the stage, the feeling of needing to be sick bubbling in her stomach. The man had begun to sing, and the crowd swayed along to the soft tune.
But still, Miyeon was rooted to her seat, not having moved since the begging of the song. She just stared.
Beneath them, a group of girls were talking about him, one of them questioning who he was. "It's that singer who committed suicide a year ago." The girl in the dark green letterman jacket said.
"Why did it have to be this song." Soojin said. "Han Seojun might start it up with Suho again."
It seemed that despite having seen Miyeon's reaction, she wasn't necessarily thinking of her friend right beside her, but instead the one that she couldn't even see - quite possibly because she didn't know how Miyeon felt about telling the other two. But yet, she still couldn't move, and she had no idea why.
"Why? Is there a history between them?" Sooa asked, the question finally making Miyeon look away from the stage.
"They were close." Soojin began. "Suho, Han Seojun, Jeong Seyeon and.." She trailed off, looking towards Miyeon. "And Hwang Miyeon."
"What?" Sooa and Jugyeong asked, looking towards Miyeon, who only stared back, words not forming in her mouth.
"Did Suho not tell you that?" The question was directed to Jugyeong, who shook her head.
"Right of course.. I think I remember that." Sooa nodded, reaching over and patting Miyeon on the knee, trying to be as comforting as she could despite the gap between them.
Silence between the girls returned, the song filling their ears. Miyeon had begun to shake, tears beading in the corner of her ears, one of them falling so quickly down her cheek.
"I'm so sorry." Miyeon mumbled, not to any of the three girls to beside her, but rather to Seyeon, standing up from her seat and turning away, she moved quickly, tears blurring her vision and she passed someone in the pathway, stood there watching the performance.
But as she turned a corner she hit someone, and with just a glimpse at the jacket, she knew who it was. And quite frankly it was the last person she wanted to see.
"Hwang Miyeon?" He asked, grabbing her wrists as she tried to pushed past him, the girl managing to knock him aside just the slightest, her upset giving her some strength.
"What happened?" He asked. "What.." He trailed off, hearing the song. "Why are you crying." He peered around the corner, freezing when he saw someone else in a similar situation and hearing the music.
It was Suho, with Jugyeong stood by him and trying to comfort him, the Lee boy not even able to stand up straight.
"Just leave me alone." Miyeon sniffed, swallowing harshly and trying to move away from him again, wiping tears off her face with her hands. "You're supposed to treating me the same, just tell me it's my fault again and get on with it."
"You're so confusing. One minute you're so nice to me and making me feel safe here again, and the next you're telling me it's my fault, that I murdered him." She continued, tears choking her. "Me and Suho. It's our faults - and then you act like it never even happened ten minutes later."
"You act like you used to, stopping me from doing this I would regret, returning bracelets and making sure I eat. Then you're telling me you're not going to treat me any different to when I came back - something I should never have let my parents do to me. I was feeling so much better, but within a week of me coming back I'm.." She trailed off, trying to take deep breaths as she wiped her face.
"You keep telling me things on what I should and shouldn't, but I'm so fucking tired of being blamed and feeling so guilty about things." Miyeon sobbed, pulling her hands away from Seojun's grasp. "Just leave me alone, and leave Suho alone as well."
And with that, she stalked past him, and Seojun stood frozen, watching Suho around the corner.
She had finally said it, had enough of the teasing and the complete switch up of attitudes. Miyeon just couldn't deal with it anymore, couldn't deal with worrying about it a fight would break out between the two boys, or if something even worse could happen.
And so, she had let Seojun know. And he would listen.
❛ AUTHORS NOTE ━━ this was emotional and quite angsty i know, but i just want to remind everyone that everyone's feelings (meaning seojun, suho and miyeon) are completely valid. it wasn't right for seojun to put the blame on the other two so heavily, but remember he was hurting too, and doesn't know why either of his best friends didn't do what they could've, and more will be revealed later on. but for now, we leave with miyeon finally reaching a point where she could confront seojun.
