Sundays were meant for relaxing. And so that's exactly what Han Seojun did, taking the chance to sleep in late and wake up closer to midday then anyone would approve of.
As the clock beside his bed showed eleven, he finally decided it was time for him to get up, forcing himself out of bed, pulling a pair of sweatpants and a jumper on before heading out to the kitchen.
Exiting his room, he heard voices from the living room and as he padded past, he raised his hand in a wave at his mom and the girl on the sofa beside her. "Good morning Seojun." Mrs Lee said as her son stepped out of his room, trudging towards the kitchen.
The girl beside her watched with wide eyes as he waved, fiddling with the bracelet on her wrist as she waited for it to kick in. It came moments later, as Seojun stepped into the kitchen, facing the pair as he reached for a bowl and cereal, stopping midway through and staring at the sofa, finally realising just who was sat there.
"Hwang Miyeon?" Seojun asked. "What are you doing here?"
"Ah.. don't be rude." Mihyang said, but her words and expression were soft. "Miyeon just came by with a few things after finding out I had gotten out of hospital."
"I'm really sorry for not visiting before, but I did try my best with convincing Eunjoo to go with meals." Miyeon said, a smile on her face. Abandoning his empty bowl and the cereal on the counter, Seojun moved over to sit next to his mom, watching Miyeon with a sort of curiousity in his eyes.
"She ended up bringing them quite often - Seojun, you remember asking where I got my meals from, right?" Mihyang turned to her son, who nodded. "Even in New York, you still managed to be so sweet."
Seojun attempted to hide his distaste for how his mother was treating her, eventually settling on sighing a little louder than usual. "Where did she hear that you had gotten out?" Seojun asked, narrowing his eyes supiciously.
"I went with Jugyeong after her blind date." Miyeon replied, and he stared at her, Mihyang instantly understanding.
"You must be the friend that Hyunsook mentioned, it's so nice for Jugyeong to have a friend like you." Mihyang was practically beaming, and Miyeon had a look of comfort and happiness on her face.
This wasn't the first time that Seojun had woken up to find Miyeon on his sofa, either talking with his mom or Gowoon. In fact, it used to happen rather often.
Before they had gone their seperate ways, Miyeon would stay at all of their places - well until Seyeon moved into the dorms. She was most comfortable at Seojun's, his family liking her and there not being that coldness that Suho's home had.
And this was no doubtedly why Seojun hadn't exactly realised what was going on when he first left his room - this, at one point, had been normal for him. "Hwang Miyeon, I think we should talk." He said, getting up and about to pull the girl up, jaw set, when Mihyang stopped him.
"I'll go, you two stay here. And don't be rude." Mihyang said, Seojun walking her over to her room and disappearing inside it for a moment, all the whilst muttering. He returned to find Miyeon tapping her nails on the cup, the low clinking sound drumming through the living area.
"Why are you here?" He asked, Miyeon sighing and putting her cup down.
"Do you not have a brain at all? Any memory left?" She asked as Seojun sat down on the other side of the sofa. "I told you at school the other day that when I found out when your mom got out I would come and visit, and bring a few things."
"And I told you that you shouldn't worry about it." Seojun replied, the same look of annoyance appearing in his face as he rolled his eyes. "So what did you bring that was that important?"
"I brought her her favourite flowers, and some homemade food. A few small gift things. I didn't visit the entire time she was in hospital - do you know how bad that makes me feel? After everything she's done for me?" Miyeon whispered the final sentence, not wanting Mrs Lee to hear.
"That's your own fault. You chose to run away from all your problems to New York. You can't just return and expect everything to be back to normal. Seyeon-" Seojun faltered, before stopping all together.
"I was reminded of that, remember? When you dragged me into an alleyway and reminded me just how bad things were? How Suho and I were the cause of all of it?" Miyeon replied, tears appearing in the corners of her eyes. She wiped them away furiously, not wanting Seojun to see.
"How is Lee Suho? You know they say that you attract those similar to you." Seojun replied, and the Hwang girl instantly knew he was talking about seeing them sat on the bench, and Miyeon sighed, standing up and pulling her coat over her shoulders.
"Perhaps. But we weren't becoming friends again, just simply two people who shared the same worry. The right worry as well, gosh." Miyeon shook her head. "You're so harsh sometimes. Tell your mom I'm sorry I left so quickly - you should try being more like her. At least she understands why I couldn't stay anywhere near here any longer."
And with that, Miyeon grabbed her bag, walking towards the door and pulling her shoes on and slipping out of the door, closing it gently behind her.
Seojun breathed out, relaxing into the sofa for just a moment before getting up himself. Finally noticing the flowers, he stared for just a moment before shaking his head, carefully slapping himself once on each cheek.
"Snap out of it." He mumbled, heading towards the kitchen once more to finally have his breakfast. And when Mihyang left the room, she said nothing - she didn't need to.
He knew she had heard most of it just from the look on her face.
