"Why do rumours keep spreading about me and Han Seojun?" The four friends were sat along a bench during their break, drinks in hand as they listened to Jugyeong.
"You should just go out with him!" Sooa turned to her friend. "How many times is this already? It means you two were meant to be. Right, Miyeon?"
"Mhm, sure." Miyeon mused, balancing her drink on the side of the bench as she typed out a reply to a message.
"We're just friends." Jugyeong replied, shaking her head.
"You could start off as friends and grow to like each other." Soojin suggested, sitting forward to look at Jugyeong. "Feelings don't stay the same forever." She added wisely.
"Kang Soo, you should go out with Suho too. You can suddenly like each other after being friends too, right? Then we all have boyfriends. Me and Taehoon, Kang Soojin and Lee Suho, Im Jugyeong and Han Seojun and Hwang Miyeon and Song Hyunwoo. That is who you're texting, aren't you?" Sooa asked, leaning over.
"No.. I'm trying to sort out when Eunjoo is coming over next. Can you believe that Dad gave.." Miyeon trailed off, wondering if any of her other friends were aware of just how close she was with Suho and Seojun now. "One of my friends a set of keys and not my housekeeper? I've already had another copy made." She sighed. "But continue on about boyfriends."
"Rich people problems." Sooa shook her head before jumping back to life. "Oh! I can just see it." She said dreamily. "I can totally see it happening."
"Should I?" Soojin asked, in regards of the comments about her feelings towards Suho. Slipping her phone back in her pocket, Miyeon turned her focus on her friends, particularily on the rather distressed look Jugyeong had acquired.
"You're being suspicous." Sooa narrowed her eyes. "Forget that. I'm going to dig into this today." She patted Jugyeong on the back. "Are you free after school today? The four of us should hang out."
"I can't." The Kang girl was the first to respond. "I have plans with Suho today."
"Just the two of you?" Sooa asked, leaning forward. "Why?"
"Just because." Soojin shrugged. "I'll tell you later." Miyeon could see the panic begin to rise in Jugyeong's eyes, meeting her gaze and shaking her head slowly, trying to dispel any of that.
"What's going on?" The Choi girl pressed. "Is there something really going on between you and Suho?"
Their conversation was interrupted by Jugyeong's phone vibrating and her struggling to get it out. She shrugged off questions asking who it was, but slipped off pretty quickly afterwards.
The day dragged on, and people just seemed distracted. Wherever Jugyeong had slipped off to put her in a bad mood, and Miyeon caught the Im girl sighing and daydreaming on various occasions.
School ended eventually, and as Miyeon left the hallways and emerged onto the open air pathways, she phone began to ring. For the second time in a few days, there was no caller ID. "Hello?" Miyeon asked as she picked up.
"Miyeon - hi, it's me. Im Heekyung, Jugyeong's sister." The woman on the other end began. "I'm calling on behalf of Move Entertainment, but I'm asking this seriously. Have either you or Han Seojun met up with any other employees? Regarding Leo, or a song of some sorts?"
"I can only speak for myself when I say that I haven't. But if it helps I do know that me and Han Seojun share a similar dislike for your place of work." Miyeon replied, hand slipping down railing as she dscended down a short flight of stairs. "You can try asking him as well, but for me it's a definite no."
"Alright, thank you so much." Heekyung said before hanging up, and feeling rather confused Miyeon placed her phone back in her pocket. Seeing a familiar face in front of her, she hurried up a little.
"Han Seojun!" She called, the boy in the black and white windbreaker jacket pausing and turning back to her. His jaw was set and he didn't look particularily happy, his phone held up to his ear before he hastily pulled it away and hung up.
"Did you get one as well?" Seojun asked, irritation clear in his tone. "I wish they would just leave us alone." He shook his head. "Why - did she ask you something weird?"
"Just about Leo, meeting up with employees and a song of some sorts." Miyeon shrugged. "I had no idea what she was on about."
"Same - look, I have to work tonight but if you get any other calls from them let me know, okay?" Seojun asked. "Have fun with Hyunwoo."
"Hm?" Miyeon asked, twisting around and seeing the Song boy approach her. "Oh, hey." She smiled at him, before turning back to say goodbye to Seojun, only to see he was already gone. "Oh." She breathed out, then looked back to Hyunwoo.
"He didn't look very happy." Hyunwoo commented as he fell into step beside her. "Was it something about what happened this morning?"
"No.." Miyeon replied. "The entertainment that we trained at just contacted us both. It does't exactly bring pleasant memories to mind and Seojun doesn't like to be pestered."
"I see." Hyunwoo nodded, and Miyeon could practically see the wheels turning in his head as he pieced together more of what he knew about Miyeon's trainee life. "I was thinking, considering the last time we spent time together it was after school, we could actually go on a proper date on Sunday. And then we don't have to worry about things like time - although I'm sure it's not a problem for you."
"That would be really nice." Miyeon replied, her cheeks dusting with pink. "I would really like that."
"I'm glad." Hyunwoo replied. "Now, are you walking back home or taking the bus, because I don't have anything to do this afternoon and was thinking I could perhaps walk you home, or to your bus stop."
"Oh yeah?" Miyeon rose an eyebrow. "It just so happens to be your lucky day. I'm walking."
"Perfect." The Song boy replied, and so they continued onwards in the early winter light.
