Miyeon would reunite with her best friend next when they were walking into school together, the Hwang girl waiting for her at the place where Jugyeong got off her bus. And arm in arm, they made their way up the long path up to school, heading towards the classroom.
"Huh? What's going on?" Miyeon asked as they approached their room. There was an unusual amount of people in there given the time - it was much more common for the two girls to arrive when half the class weren't still there, but now there seemed to be their entire class and more.
Passing through the doors, Jugyeong was instantly pulled away from Miyeon by Sooa, who was still at her regular level of excitement for that time in the morning ( far too high for anyone else to deal with ). "Hey, Jugyeong!" The girl exclaimed as she took the Im girl's arm, Jugyeong glancing back at Miyeon for just a moment, apology in her eyes.
"What is it this time?" As usual, Jugyeong seemed utterly dumbfounded by whatever was going on in the classroom, a group of girls crowding around near her seat squealling and holding up signs and showing the backs of signs.
"How long have you been going out?" Sooa asked, and simultaneously, Jugyeong and Miyeon's eyes widened, the latter hurrying to get closer to her friend and peering around at them. "Why didn't you tell me?" She continued, whine adding to her tone.
"Do we have two couples in our class now?" Sihyun had appeared the other side of Jugyeong, her hand on her other arm. Soojin came over as well, standing beside Miyeon who had found refuge from the chaos by the wall, still trying to figure out what was happening.
"Is it true?" Soojin asked, sounding far more serious than any of them had heard from her before.
"Soojin.. I wasn't trying to keep it from you-" Jugyeong scrambled, completely overwhelmed by everything going on. She had been so careful to hide her relationship, and now this was happening.
But sudden shouts could be heard and the attention was pulled away from Jugyeong and to the back of the classroom, where a group of boys were running in as they shouted. Miyeon tilted her head in confusion - several were from Seojun's friend group, why on earth would they be here?
"Ta-da!" They shouted, ripping their blazers open to reveal a picture of Seojun and Jugyeong from the photoshoot on a t-shirt.
"What!" Miyeon couldn't help but exclaim, clapping a hand over her mouth at the sight.
"I heard you and Han Seojun were secretly dating." Sooa turned to Jugyeong. "I heard you took pictures together and stuff."
"What?" Jugyeong seemed just as horrified as Miyeon, twisting around to see balloons upon ballons lining the area underneath a row of pictures from the photoshoot.
They shared a similar horror, the two girls, as they realised just what was going on. Miyeon had paused for a moment, waiting for the bouts of jealousy to come. But they didn't. And instead, the overwhelming urge to laugh.
Keeping the hand pressed to her mouth, Miyeon watched as Jugyeong reacted, before hearing the sound of Seojun's friends shouting again as Seojun entered, just as confused as everyone else.
"What are you doing here?" He asked his friends, hand pulling one of them to face him, eyes landing upon the t-shirts as cheers of congratulations echoed around the room once more.
The Han boy looked around the room, his gaze finally landing on the group of girls by the other entrance. Jugyeong shook her head slightly as their eyes met, and Seojun met Miyeon's eyes, brow furrowing when he saw the contained laughter in her eyes.
"What's up with you?" Soojin nudged her, Miyeon forcing herself to stop smiling by biting her bottom lip.
"Nothing much. Nothing much at all." She replied. In reality, Miyeon was just facing several things at once. First, her feelings for her best friend were incredibly real. Second, this was a whole big misunderstanding and everyone was making such a big deal. Third, that it could have been her in those pictures instead. For some reason, all grouped together she just found it so funny. She supposed it was her way of dealling with her unrequired love.
"What's going on?" A voice asked, and Miyeon looked up to see Hyunwoo peering through the door, clearly drawn by the crowds and the shouting. "Morning, by the way." He grinned down at the girl, pushing up his glasses.
"Well you see, Seojun and Jugyeong had a photoshoot together and somehow people got hold of the photos and now they're apparently dating." Miyeon shrugged, smiling back up at him.
"And why is that so funny to you? What do you know?" Hyunwoo tilted his head, brows raising up as Miyeon gestured for him to lean lower down, hand placed upon his shoulder as she balanced on her tiptoes to reach his ear.
"I suppose there isn't any harm in you knowing. I don't think you could hurt a fly if I'm honest." She began, her voice a whisper and a laugh escaping her lips as Hyunwoo's shoulder jerked upwards slightly, goosebumps appearing on his neck.
"It tickles, alright?" He replied. "And I hate flies. But you're right, I've never killed one."
"Good. So instead off Jugyeong, I was supposed to be the female model but there was a mix up and I didn't need to be there. And.. don't tell anyone this.. but Jugyeong already has a boyfriend. And it is definitely not Seojun." Miyeon continued on, smiling as she settled back down on her feet.
"I'll take it to my grave." Hyunwoo promised, holding up his pinkie finger. "But that sounds complicated."
"It is." Miyeon nodded, biting back a smile once more as she returned to the scene in front of her. Seojun was staring over at her, having been pulled up to the front by Jugyeong - who was hurriedly trying to explain everything. "And so incredibly funny."
"You're weird." Hyunwoo poked her in the ribs in reply. But the gasp that left Miyeon's lips wasn't because of that, but because she had looked to the back of the classroom and saw that Suho was stood there. And as usual he seemed angry - well not really as usual, he seemed a little more intense this time.
"Hey!" Hyunkyu shouted. "I have a question from 'Hyunkyu Facts'! Was the man that you were on a secret date with at K Mall.. Han Seojun!"
"That would be difficult considering he was shopping for apartments with me." Miyeon murmured to no one in particular. "I truly wonder how he managed to pull that off."
"Okay guys!" Jugyeong clapped her hands together, trying to get everyone to calm down. "We are just friends. Nothing more, nothing less. So please stop spreading rumours based purely on speculation." She bowed following it, and Seojun nudged her.
"Is this a press conference?" He asked, hands digging into his pockets.
"Say something?" Jugyeong pushed. "Don't let them jump to conclusions like that." Seojun let out a sigh as more chants came from the crowd demanding answers from them.
Rather suddenly, he hit the teacher's podium, prompting silence. "Guys!" he shouted, before lowering his voice to a more threatening tone. "If I hear you talk nonsense, you're dead." He turned to Jugyeong. "Happy?"
This didn't soothe the crowd as Seojun moved back over to his desk, very suddenly crowded with boys asking him questions about kissing and prompting him to be honest with them.
"Hey! Miyeon shouted as she watched the crowd. "That's my desk!" Offense dripped into her tone, but it disappeared instantly to a smile as she turned up to the Song boy. "Do you mind if I go sort this out?" She asked, watching as he shook his head.
"No, go ahead. I'll leave you to it. Crowds aren't my favourite thing and I'm almost convinced that my friends are in.. that crowd of people over there." Hyunwoo pointed out one of the groups by the window. "If they found out we met up then I would be faced with a lot of betrayal accusations."
"Go, save yourself from that fate." Miyeon nodded, smiling. "I'll text you." She promised, watching as he slipped out of the classroom and making her way over to her desk. "Hey!" She repeated, and the group of boys looked up at her. "Stop asking crude questions that are quite frankly none of your business and scram. I would like to be able to sit down at some point today."
With a wave of her hand, the boys were scattering and Miyeon sat down besides Seojun. "You were enjoying that, weren't you?" He questioned, voice bitter.
"I was." Miyeon confirmed, looking back over to the front of the classroom as Mr Han entered. But whilst her mind was focused on Jugyeong's despair, Seojun's was doing something rather different.
Thoughts seemed to ping-pong back and forth. On one end, the sight of Miyeon leaning up to whisper something in Hyunwoo's ear. And the other, Lee Suho's face as he saw what was going on, the fight that had began all because of their shared feelings for Jugyeong and then how Jugyeong had broken down in front of him over her feelings for Suho.
It was all just one big confusing mess. And everything had just become so tangled. But it seemed that it wouldn't stop there.
❛ AUTHORS NOTE ━━ hi holy crap is chapter 100 wow i am just wow that's a lot and idk if anyone has seen my message board but i do have a couple things i wanna ask/say
so if it's going to be equal for each act of romancing, then there's possibly going to be around 180 chapters so i'm putting forward the idea of a second book,
although it would make sense to keep it with romancing, however if i were to expand on what we all know is coming eventually (miyeon and seojun relationship) then it could be a new book which sounds like a lot but idk how i would work with those final two episodes and a timeline would have to be created it's a lot of extra work, but i am willing to do it
i was already planning on putting more into those two future episodes, because it will explore what i (will have hopefully) decided for miyeon then (im still trying to decide between two options), but i have already had tons of ideas for the future parts, so nobody has to worry about it not being long enough, that's for sure.
there is even the possibility of me extending a little further past the final episode - meaning past seojun's debut. i would say that that part would most likely be a sort of 10-20 chapters long, and would make sense if i were to do a second book, which would split apart their high school years and their adult life.
any thoughts?
