The call from Suho had taken Miyeon by surprise, but as always she was just grateful to recieve it. They weren't very often and considerably far in between. It was just a shame that she was just about to get changed for a photoshoot and couldn't talk to him for longer.
After everything that had happened between the three of them, the Hwang girl was so relient on getting these phone calls every now and again. They just served as a reminder that they were friends and the fact that Suho was currently in Los Angeles didn't change that.
That being said, she really hoped that he did as he said he would and called Seojun. He wasn't as busy as she was and they would be able to talk to longer. Seojun could reassure him more than she was able to at the moment.
And now Miyeon was stood beside the white backdrop, Chanmi, Maiya and Kaien have all already completed their photoshoots. Chanmi had done an incredible job on the outfits and they all looked amazing and matched as well.
The white blouse-style dress that Miyeon had picked out before getting the call was clearly liked by the older Korean girl, because one of the makeup artists was fussing around with the collar, trying to figure how many buttons to keep undone.
Miyeon held her chin forward as another makeup artist applied powder, a hand reaching upwards to adjust the black corset-type dress she had been strapped into. It was tight and caused the blouse to flood out of it, adjusted to look incredibly flattering. Silver necklaces covered the now open neck and she had bent down to put the waterfall-like earrings in.
On her feet were a pair of heeled boots that were taller than Miyeon had worn in a long while, laces tied into a neat bow thick block heels making it a little easier to walk. Her makeup was effortless and natural, hair styles in the same way. It wasn't too elaborate or bold and fit in perfectly with the other three outfits.
She looked pretty, a smile on her face as she got one last good look in the mirror before being ushered towards the centre of the backdrop.
"You know what to do?" Mr Moon was yet to pick up his camera, and was instead stood by it as he talked to one of the staff members. Miyeon nodded.
That was another bonus to having worked at the photographer's company for a couple years. Mr Moon had helped Miyeon become more confident in this particular setting, and having photographed her all those times, he had helped her to develop a certain routine for before photoshoot that helped her get into it.
First, Miyeon had to stretch, clicking any joints. twisting all around to make sure she wasn't tense. Second, just getting into the feel of her environment. Third, simpler poses.
"You ready?" Mr Moon turned back towards her, gesturing a nearby makeup artist holding a tube of lipstick over, watching as they applied it. "Ready Miyeon? Okay... go."
It was like the first jump into the swimming pool after a long, cold winter and spring had past and the heat had finally come. It took a little while for her to gain that full confidence that she once had, cycling through poses until it peaked. And then, it was like emerging from the glassy surface of the water and taking a deep gulping breath.
"There we go!" It wasn't only Miyeon who could notice the change, but Mr Moon as well, clutching his camera and moving forward, a smile just about visible on his face. Blue light shone down over her, tinting the backdrop. The camera flash was something familiar and she basked in it.
An hour later and Miyeon could finally take a deep breath. Following her solo photoshoot, there was one with them as a group. And to their surprises, Mr Moon ordered an outfit change and Heekyung ushered them back towards the room filled with racks of clothes and the process started all over again.
"Now, as good as you all looked and how much I would love for you to keep your outfits, I need them back." Mr Moon, now without his camera stood in front of the group. "You did incredibly well, all of you."
"Thank you." The girl group smiled, bowing to the photographer before returning to the changing room. Soon enough, the makeup not yet taken off, their clothes returned to the rack and they changed back into outfit they came in, the four of them climbed back into the van and drove back to the Move Entertainment building.
"Careful." Maiya was first to climb out and offered her arm to Kai, who clutched at it until her feet hit the ground, the service offered to Chanmi and Miyeon afterwards.
"You all have solo practise time on log, but I don't blame you if you're tired, or want to go out for food. Miyeon, I believe the producers are waiting for you?" Heekyung read off of her notepad, looking between them. "Just make sure you're back for 1pm, you have a group vocal practise and a dance practise after that."
"Got it." The four of them walked side by side up to the Entertainment building, smiling at Mr Baek as they entered, crossing the lobby through interruptions from staff members and offering smiles to a group of wide-eyed fans sat in the artists café attached to the lobby - there was a picture of Chen's face on one of their shirts, but they seemed to get the drift that a group of girls in clothes obviously meant for practise were some form of trainees or dancers. And pretty ones at that.
Just as they were about to enter the elevator, Miyeon felt a hand snake around her waist and she jumped out of her skin, looking up to see Seojun smiling down at her. She waved at the other three as they entered the elevator anyway, needing to get to their private practises.
"I thought you were supposed to be hungover?" Miyeon asked as the two drifted away from the elevators back into the sight of the café, where one member of the group of fans pointed over, and the Hwang girl sighed, letting her hair fall over her face as they sat in one of the flawless cream armchairs that littered the lobby.
"Do you know them?" Seojun had caught the movement as well. "Do you want to swap seats so they can't see you?"
"No.. it's fine. I should get used to it anyway." Miyeon shrugged, a glint of acceptance in her eyes. "But you didn't answer my question - you were really drunk last night."
"I wasn't that drunk." Seojun insisted, flicking hair out of his eyes that every so often glanced over to the café. "But Eunjoo came over and considering we all go out drinking she brought hangover soup, and some tablets. It fixed me up in no time.. but I do have a little bit of a headache."
"What, from the soju or learning that you called me 'Miyeonie' on several occasions?" She teased, smiling when the Han boy acquired a grumpy look she had seen on far too many occasions. "Also I'm supposed to go up to the producers' room, so I don't have too long."
"That's fine... I was just wondering if you had heard from Suho?" Seojun pushed the question that he had been waiting to ask, and that Miyeon had been expecting to hear.
"I did, sounds like he could be coming back soon." Miyeon smiled, but it didn't seem as if Seojun was as happy about this - there was now a pressure for him to do something he had been dreading.
"He sounded more optimistic about that then he has about anything else." Seojun swallowed back any of those thoughts, watching as Miyeon glanced at her phone. "Come on, I'll walk you to the elevator."
And he did just that, making sure he was on the side that the fans could see, Miyeon's much smaller form hidden right up until the moment she stepped into the elevator.
He would tell Jugyeong that night.
