Miyeon hadn't been surprised to wake up with Seojun still very much cuddled up to her, although she was considerably surprised he wasn't having breathing problems; his chin was balanced on her shoulder, face pressed into the curve of her neck.
She couldn't move for the first few minutes, both due to her own tiredness and because of Seojun's weight causing multiple parts of her to go numb in the night and emit a weird tingle when she tried to move them. She could only tell he was still alive because the feeling of his warm breath on her neck.
However, Miyeon was surprised at the fact she had woken up fifteen minutes earlier than she needed to. Luckily, this wasn't as early as the day before, seeing as their debut announcement photoshoot was scheduled for a more normal time than their hair appointments, which had them waking up just as the hours of dawn had hit the city.
That gave her a chance to begin the process of easing herself out from under Seojun. Something which failed miserably, because even though he had gotten home late in the night and was most definitely hungover, he had woken up and tightened his grip on her, causing all the progress she had made to go right down the drain.
"To say that we're not dating, although we do have feelings for each other.. but you also went drinking with the girl who you are trying to confess to only to have her reject you - you're awfully clingy Han Seojun." Miyeon mused, her tired brain jumping back to what she said, an idea forming.
It was quite obvious that Seojun wasn't planning on waking up any time soon or letting go of her waist any quicker. So, with only ten minutes to go until she had to get up, Miyeon needed to manage to do something that would do both.
"You know, Han Seojun. I'm thinking about it now and I'm wondering if there's any point in me waiting." It was most definitely harsh, but that was really the only thing that could hold any shock factor anymore. Their last fall out had been because both of them had gotten drunk and neither had any candy on them - which sort of proved how they seemed to have progressed past arguements, only finding cause to properly fight over the stupidest of things.
"Hwang Miyeon don't you dare even joke about that." Seojun had sat upright, hands reaching for her own, using that connection to shake her back and forth gently. He was wide awake now, eyes wide.
"It's not Miyeonie anymore?"
"What?" Seojun had never turned so pink, and had it been any other topic that they had been talking about, Miyeon would have likened him to the fluffy throw blanket that now sat crumpled on her bedroom floor.
"When you came in here last night, very drunk - by the way you need to take a shower you stink of alcohol - the first thing you said to me was: 'Miyeonie.. Hwang Miyeonie...' and then told me that you missed me." She said it very matter-of-factly, as if she was presenting a project at school.
"You're being mean." Seojun groaned, and without any other way to hide his face and deal with his piercing headache at the same time he collapsed back down into the pillows, pulling the covers back over him.
"I'm not intending to be.. just maybe suggesting that you should be careful how much you drink. Just be glad it was me who heard the nicknames first.. and not Hyunwoo or Daehwan." Miyeon smiled, laying down beside him and gently turning his head on the pillow, a different kind of look in her eyes - more amusement than anything - when he met them. "You know he loves you, but hearing you call him Daehwanie might just be where he draws the line."
"I thought you needed to go to a.."
"Photoshoot." Miyeon filled in the blanks in his memory, like a child at school.
"Yes. A photoshoot. An important photoshoot." Seojun nodded. "Not here with me making fun of what I have no control over."
"Fine, I won't make fun of the nicknames anymore. Although I will bring it up for the rest of your days. Relentlessly. I'll hold it above your head as a threat." Miyeon was biting back a laugh, enjoying the range of emotion over Seojun's face as her hand cup his cheek, slender fingers reaching around to the curls at the back of his neck that she had played with as he fell asleep right beside her.
"If I don't put a stop to it. And that's assuming that you're there for the rest of them. For all I know the minute you debut you'll dump me for more famous friends." Seojun replied. He was messing with her, getting her back for the teasing that had occurred since he woke up.
"What? And then embarass myself when you inevitably become even more famous than me when you debut?" Miyeon scoffed, shaking her head. "You're stuck with me Han Seojun. Remember what you promised me when you finally confess to Jugyeong."
"Ah yes.. dating." Seojun was working very hard at this point to conceal his headache; conversation like this with Miyeon was only going to become rarer over the upcoming month, so he just needed to endure it. "Then I really will be stuck with you forever."
There were certain implications within that surrounding the word 'forever' that Miyeon didn't dare delve into, so instead, her hand crept away from his cheek and pushed herself up.
"You just sleep. I have to get ready to go." Miyeon smiled back down at him as he rolled over to face her, scowling when she began to pull up the blinds. "Come on, back to sleep."
"Sing me a lullaby."
"Alright, I might be in love with you but that's not going to happen." Miyeon said it so casually as she moved around her room, collecting up appropriate clothes to wear to the photoshoot. She didn't even realised she had said it, humming to herself as she left the room.
Sure, the whole 'I've fallen in love with my best friend' was their trope, and both of them had thought it plenty of times. But neither of them had ever said it allowed, always dancing around the subject with the very much middle-school term of 'like'.
And with her last words to him very much on his mind, Seojun couldn't get back to sleep, for Miyeon's sake he rolled onto his side and huddled in the corner of her bed that faced the wall and even shut his eyes, but as much as he needed it, he couldn't fall back asleep.
Instead, he was promising himself that he was going to gather up the courage to admit to Jugyeong how he felt and let him get rejected. It would be the most satisfying thing ever, or so he believed.
He couldn't believe they had stuck with Juyoung's advice over the years. There had to have been some better way to get rid of these feelings. But considering he was now dating Gowoon, who knew how this would happen.
Seojun just knew he would be with Miyeon forever, no matter when he confessed. The course of their relationship to that point proved it.
