KATNISS POV  - ͟͟͞☆

Katniss walked towards the campfire with Clove and Finch after they had all ran back to the cabin to grab their sweatshirts. 

She was eating a granola bar and was currently swiping through Instagram despite the fact they weren't allowed to be on their phones. Finch was still reading the large book she was reading at dinner and Clove was sharpening what looked to be a knife. 

"What do you guys think of Glimmer's 'plan'?" Katniss asked, trying to start a conversation.

"Oh, I absolutely hate it. Cato is an idiot," Clove said, rolling her dark eyes. 

"I guess I don't really know Thresh all that well," Finch said, not looking up from the pages of her book. She pushed her glasses farther up her nose. "We didn't talk much during the time Effie gave us. Effie is annoying as heck too."

"Finally, someone understands," Clove said, throwing her small arms in the air, nearly stabbing Katniss in the eye with the knife. 

"What do you think of Peeta?" Finch asked Katniss, finally looking up.

Katniss turned bright red and said "He's okay I guess."

They all quieted and walked down the path in the dark the rest of the way. It was really quiet where they were but they could hear the chatter in the distance which was how they knew the campfire was close. 

Ten minutes later, they were all sitting with Cabin 28 on a rough log laughing their heads off about a threat Johanna made to Finnick.

A shrill whistle burst through the night and everyone's attention was focused on the man with snow colored hair standing in the middle of the circle by the campfire.

"Hello everyone! How was everyone's first day of camp?" he said. He was met with loud cheers and applause. 

"Now, it is time for the annual First Day Campfire!" More applause cut through the night. "Have fun, don't get burnt, and get back to your cabins by nine. You may be on your phones at this time. Goodnight."

And with that he just turned around and left.

"He's so stupid. Doesn't even realize people have been on their phones this whole time," Clove said rolling her eyes. 

"Do that anymore and you might find a brain back there!" Cato exclaimed, strolling up behind them and throwing an arm around Clove's shoulder.

"That arm better be off my should in five seconds before there will be a trip to the nurse," Clove said calmly. 

Cato chuckled but quickly removed his arm.

"I'm going to go back to the cabin, anyone want to come?" Annie addressed to the group.

"I will," Katniss and Madge said. Finch also followed them but didn't say anything, still immersed in her book.

"Can I come with you guys?" Peeta asked awkwardly. "I- I mean, our cabin is r- right next to yours-"

"Of course!" Annie said, saving him from his stuttering. 

The group bid goodnight to everyone else before starting the trek back to the cabins.

"How has everyone's first day been?" Annie asked as they walked side by side in the dark.

She was met with a chorus of 'Good's, 'Meh's, and 'Terrible's. Katniss was one of the 'meh's.

She liked everyone in her cabin but her counselor was peppy and annoying and the weird Gale kid kept staring at her during the tour and it was bothering her. 

Annie and Madge pulled ahead and talked about all of the ships from the day and Finch walked alongside them, leaving Peeta and Katniss in the back with an awkward silence.

"Hey, uh, is that Gale kid like mentally okay?" Katniss asked awkwardly, breaking the silence. Peeta laughed which make Katniss blush a little less.

"Okay, so get this. He dragged me out of the mess hall during the skills test, slammed me against the wall, and told me to stay away from you and that you were his," he said, acting like he was a mother gossiping at a book club. 

"No way. Actually?" Katniss asked incredulously. Why would anyone want to be with her, let alone like her?

"Yes way," Peeta said, still laughing.

"And what did you do?" Katniss asked.

"I- uh- kinda kicked him where it hurts?" he said sheepishly. Katniss burst out laughing.

"You are amazing," she said in between breaths causing Peeta to blush beet red. 

"So how is your cabin?" Katniss asked once she caught her breath. 

"They are okay. They are like really tall though like honestly they are all about a foot taller than me," Peeta replied honestly. Katniss smirked and chuckled softly. 

"How is your cabin?" he asked, pulling the uno reverse card.

"They're nice. They do like killing though which kinda scares me. If you're lucky, I'll be here in the morning."

They were still laughing together about a stupid bread joke Peeta made when they reached the fifteen year old section. 

Cabins 28 and 29 were right next to each other so they said goodnight before both heading into their respectful cabins. 

Katniss smiled softly to herself as she closed the door behind her. Peeta was a nice guy and Katniss wanted to become friends with him if they weren't already. But there was also some feeling deep down about the Bread Boy that Katniss couldn't quite put her finger on. 

After taking a shower and getting ready for bed, Katniss stepped out of the bathroom, only to get cornered by Annie and Madge.

"So!" Annie exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.

"How was your little conversation with your boyfriend?" Madge asked, her dimples showing. Katniss tilted her head to the side not sure of what they were talking about.

"What boyfriend-" she started. And then it came to her. The two girls were shipping her with Peeta. "No, no, no, no," she said, shaking her head.

The blonde and the redhead smiled and nodded. 

"I do not like Peeta. We are just friends. I don't even know if we are friends yet!" Katniss said, holding her hands next to her head as if she was getting arrested by the police. 

"Sure, sure, sure," Annie and Madge mumbled. 

"Ugh, you guys are the worst!" Katniss said, smiling as she threw her pillow at Madge's head. 

"Oh you are on," Madge grinned. 

The three dove into a pillow fight- no not fight- pillow war, throwing pillows and stuffed animals left and right.

One wrong throw by Annie hit Finch in the face knocking her glasses of her face and onto her book causing all three to stop in her tracks.

Finch felt around for her glasses and as soon as they were secured back on her face she launched a pillow right back at Annie, resuming the war.

Later, Clove, Glimmer, and Johanna all walked into the cabin, Effie trailing behind and they all got met with a face full of pillow. 

An hour later, everyone was collapsed on their respectful beds and on their phones, and ready for bed. 

Katniss got a text from a group chat which she later found out was with all her cabin mates, that Glimmer created.

"Hey, Glimmer," Katniss called to the blonde girl.

"Hmm?" Glimmer asked, popping her head over the side of her top bunk. 

"How did you get our numbers?" Katniss asked, tilting her head to the side.

"Oh, you guys shouldn't leave your phones open during pillow fights," she grinned. 

Katniss rolled her eyes playfully and then said goodnight to everyone before attempting to doze off.

Only, Katniss couldn't fall asleep. There was a single thought floating  through her head. She had figured out what the feeling was about Peeta from before. 

Katniss Everdeen had developed a crush on the Bread Boy from Cabin 28.
