31.
"Ma'am, it's already been over a month since she was admitted, three weeks since she was last operated on, and two weeks since she fell into a coma. She hasn't been responding to anything, and the fall she had seriously injured her brain. It's a wonder that only her nervous system has failed."
I felt like I was actually, mentally paralysed. I couldn't think straight.
It's been over a month since I got injured? But that can't right. . . I was with you a few moments ago!
And. . . I went into a coma? But what had happened to you? (Yes, I was much more concerned about your wellbeing than my own.)
I was so confused, I had so many questions, and I needed answers, ASAP.
Unfortunately for me, I couldn't do anything, because I had no energy left in me.
To add on to that, I was apparently hooked on to life support, and a couple of people were contemplating on pulling the plug, which would thereby kill me. Permanently.
But, I didn't want to die.
I wanted to be with you, my love.
I thought furiously, where are you? I desperately need you right now, please help me.
My prayer was answered, because I heard a soft whisper that felt familiarly warm in my ears, unmistakably in your voice, "Open your eyes."
I didn't need to be told twice.
It was as if hearing your voice had given a burst of energy. None of my known, and unknown, injuries mattered anymore. All that mattered was your voice.
I opened my eyes.
