Game of Hell | Act Two

"WHAT?"
The blonde woman across from Blaze, stared at him with blinking eyes and a half-open mouth, trying to comprehend the words that just came out of his mouth. She had no idea if this was some prank but seeing how serious the boy looked made her second guess that thought.
"I said-"
Dr. Pierce cut Blaze off, "Werewolves and hunters?"
"And a Kanima." Blaze nodded as if he didn't just spill every dark secret about Beacon Hills to his therapist. Hey, he was told to be honest to his therapist and the past few days have been shitty, so someone had to listen to his rants.
Blaze and Charlotte stared at each other for a moment. The blonde still trying to understand everything that her client has just told her — Kate Argent killed his maybe family, Peter Hale became an alpha, went around killing people until his nephew Derek killed him, then Derek processed to turn three teenagers into werewolves and someone about Jackson being a dick filled with childhood trauma that lead to him becoming a lizard that was being controlled by Blaze's stalker who was found dead. Charlotte needed a few shots of tequila.
Blaze tapped his fingers against his leg as his eyes danced around the room waiting for Charlotte to say something. When she proceeded to not say anything, Blaze spoke up, "Oh and I think Scott has feelings for me."
⸻
Blaze stood in front of his locker in the boys ' locker room getting ready for the championship shop game tonight. He had seen Scott and attempted to avoid him at all costs which was going better than expected as Scott seemed to be avoiding him as well.
"Hey, Stiles." Blaze greeted as he closed his locker and walked over to the boy.
"Hey, Blaze," Stiles stated. Since the night at the station, no one has spoken to each other, so an awkward silence filled between them making them both uncomfortable.
"I wanted to ask you about-" Blaze went to say when Coach interrupted him with his usual Independence Day speech.
"Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will be joining others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind." Coach said.
"What?" Blaze heard Scott's mother say from where she was standing behind Stiles looking around in confusion and disbelief. Blaze tensed at her presence not having noticed her before. He had no idea what was going on with her now that she knew about everything, and he didn't exactly know what to say so he avoided looking at her.
"Mankind... that word should have new meaning for all of us today." Coach continued when Melissa tapped Stiles on the shoulder.
"What the hell is he talking about?" She asked him.
"He does this every year." Stiles sighed, used to this speech already.
"Seriously?"
"Yeah."
"We're fighting for our right to live." Coach said as everyone cheered except Stiles and Blaze who looked bored while Scott had an amused smile on his face from where he sat on the bench.
"Wait, is this..." Melissa finally started to clue in.
"Yeah, it's the speech from Independence Day." Blaze nodded.
"But as the day the world declared in one voice..."
"Coach's favorite movie," Stiles added on.
"We will not go quietly into the night!"
"He doesn't know any sports speeches?" Melissa questioned.
"I don't think he cares." Stiles shook his head.
"Not one fuck." Blaze chuckled.
"Today we celebrate our Independence Day!" The entire team cheered as Blaze narrowed his eyes at the man who walked in behind him.
"Well spoken, Coach. I might have chosen something with a little more historical value, but there's no denying your passion" Gerald smiled, "And while I haven't been here long, there's no denying my pride in having a winning team for this school. I know you'll all be brilliant tonight, even with only one co-captain leading you."
Blaze and Stiles shared a look at his words before Blaze turned to look at Scott who seemed just as surprised at this.
"Now, I'm your principal, but I'm also a fan so don't think I'll be content to watch you merely beat this team. Get out there and murder them." Gerald spoke making the boy's faces drop knowing there was a double meaning behind those words.
"You heard the man. Asses on the field!" Coach yelled making the team cheer again. Blaze made his way onto the field, walking slowly as he looked around wondering if Lydia was coming tonight. He's spoken to her a little bit, but she seemed to be doing her own thing and she seemed to be doing alright so he tried not to worry too much.
His face dropped when he saw Charlotte sitting on the bleachers making him gap at her in disbelief. Why the fuck was his therapist at his lacrosse game?
"Dr. Pierce, what are you doing here?" Blaze asked as he came up to the side to speak to her.
"Oh hi, Blaze. And I'm here to watch the game of course. All I've been hearing about is this game and decided to see just how good you are. You like to brag a lot about your skills." She smiled as Blaze eyed her for a minute, "Good luck out there. Show me how good you really are."
Blaze smiled and nodded. His parents weren't here yet his therapist or as he liked to call her "his gossiping friend" just to watch the game. She seemed to be taking the whole werewolf thing alright, so he decided to go sit on the bench.
"Oh, Blaze. Wait!" Charlotte yelled when he was about to leave.
"Yeah?" He asked walking back to her.
"Which ones Scott?" Charlotte asked with a cheeky smile as Blaze scoffed with a laugh and walked away making her chuckle, "I'll figure it out!"
"Good luck with that!" He yelled back when he saw Scott and Stiles sitting on the bench looking nervous and anxious.
Taking a deep breath, he sat down beside Stiles just as Scott spoke up, "Your dad coming?"
"Yeah, he's already here." Stiles nodded pouting towards his dad who was sitting next to Melissa and a few benches down from Charlotte.
"You seen Allison?" Scott asked again.
"No, have you seen Lydia?" Stiles asked.
"Not yet." Scott rubbed his hands together.
"My therapist is here, and I think it's because I told her about werewolves and the hunters and Jackson." Blaze blurted out as Stiles and Scott's eyes went wide as their heads snapped over to him.
"You what?"
"Why would you do that?"
"Are you out of your mind?"
"Which one is your therapist?"
"The blonde one, two rows up from your parents and I was stressed out and it all just happened to come out. You guys told me to give her a chance and open up to her, so I did. She seems to be taking it well." Blaze rambled as Stiles sighed in disbelief.
"I'm going to pretend like I didn't hear anything you just said. Do you guys know what's going on?" Stiles asked the boys beside him.
"Not yet."
"Nope."
"It's going to be bad, isn't it?" Stiles asked bouncing his leg nervously, "I mean, like people screaming, running for their lives, blood, killing, maiming kind of bad?"
Blaze felt himself getting more nervous than before and he started to regret Charlotte being here and he suddenly hoped Lydia wouldn't show up.
"Looks like it." Scott nodded.
Stiles gulped as he rubbed his hands together, "Scott, Blaze, the other night seeing my dad get hit over the head by Matt, you know, while I'm just lying there and I can't even move, it just. I want to help, you know, but I can't do the things that you guys could do. I can't..."
"It's okay," Scott reassured him as Blaze nodded.
"We're losing dude." Stiles sighed.
"The hell are you talking about? The game hasn't even started yet." The coach appeared out of nowhere as he looked at Stiles, "Now put on your helmet and get out there. You're in for Greenberg."
"What? What happened to Greenberg?" Stiles perked up looking around the field.
"What happened to Greenberg? He sucks, you suck slightly less." Coach said as Blaze and Scott shared an excited look.
"I'm playing? On the field? With the team?" Stiles asked in disbelief.
"Yes, unless you'd rather play with yourself." Coach told him.
"I already did that today, twice," Stiles said shamelessly making Blaze bark out a laugh.
"I change my mind, Stiles. You and Lydia are my best friends." Blaze smiled at the boy, ignoring Scott's offended look as Stiles's smile grew.
"Did you hear that? I'm Blaze's best friend!" Stiles said excitedly.
"Get the hell out there!" Coach yelled in his ear making Stiles jump up, stumbling to grab his stuff before running out into the field.
"He said I was his best friend first," Scott yelled after Stiles who didn't hear him, making him huff on the bench.
"Oh, god." Stiles bounced on his heels as Blaze chuckled and tapped him on the arm.
"Good luck, Stilinski. Remember what the scary animal doctor said? Imagination." Blaze winked at him as he moved to his spot.
"Imagination is more important than knowledge." Stiles nodded recalling the quote on Harris's car.
Blaze looked around when his heart fell when he saw Lydia walking up the bleachers to sit next to Melissa and Noah making him tense. He looked over at Scott who seemed to be focused on nothing in front of him making him focus on his hearing.
"Let's put a real clock on this game, Scott. I'll give you until the last 30 seconds. When that scoreboard clock begins counting down from 30, if you haven't given me Derek then Jackson is going to kill someone." Blaze heard Gerald say as he pretended to be focused on something other than eavesdropping on them,
"So, tell me, Scott, who's gonna die tonight? Should it be your mother who so bravely came out to support you? Or the Sheriff, your best friend's father? Or how about the pretty little redhead who survived the bite of an alpha? Or how about the boy you try so hard to hide your feelings from?" Blaze looked at the clock on the board to avoid his eyes from glancing over to Scott. He genuinely wished he could tear that old man apart right here, right now, "Or one of these innocent teenagers with their whole life ahead of them. Or should I do everyone a favor and kill that ridiculous coach? It's up to you, Scott, but you are going to help me take Derek down. Because if you don't, I'll have Jackson rip someone's head off right in the middle of the field and drench everyone you love and care about in blood."
The whistle blowing snapped Blaze out of his thoughts as he looked over at Scott who caught his eye. Both of them were on edge and more scared than they'd like to admit. Blaze was okay with taking Derek down to keep his loved ones saved so he didn't get why Gerald was forcing Scott to help him and not him.
As the game went on, Stiles managed to miss the ball or be taken down repeatedly making Blaze huff but encouraged him anyway. For his first game, plus knowing something bad might happen tonight, he wasn't surprised that Stiles wasn't doing that well — or maybe he was just absolutely terrible and that's why this is his first game.
Blaze had scored a few goals, but it wasn't enough to surpass the other team. His mind wasn't focused on the game but more on Gerald's words and trying to let Stiles try and score a goal — which wasn't going too well.
"Help me take down some of our players so we can get Scott in the game to help us keep Jackson from killing anyone." Issac appeared from behind him, making Blaze raise an eyebrow at him.
"Let's go then." Blaze sighed. Blaze and Issac took off down the field and began to knock down their players which seemed to piss off Coach.
"Anderson, Lahey! Seriously, what the hell is your problem?" Coach yelled at them from the sidelines. Issac shrugged his shoulders as Blaze laughed and ran back toward the others.
The whistle blew again as Issac and Blaze went to take down the next player when Jackson appeared and knocked them both down, nipping them with his Kanima venom as they fell to the ground.
Scott ran into the field and crouched down beside them, "It's not broken but I can't move it." Isaac grunted.
"Fucking asshole." Blaze tried to move his body, but he was stuck. It felt like one of those dreams where you're trying to run but your dream decided to be a bitch and run in slow motion.
"I think Jackson nicked me, 'cause I can feel it spreading," Issac said in a hushed tone as the medics arrived to get them off the field.
"I can't feel anything either." Blaze shook his head when he overhead Gerald's disgusting voice.
"You want to play chess, Scott? Then you'd better be willing to sacrifice your pawns." He stated as Blaze glared at the dark sky above him. If Scott didn't kill him then Blaze was going to. He wondered how Allison was related to any of them, he liked her a lot more than the rest of them.
⸻
Grunting, Blaze and Isaac pulled their bodies amount the locker room floor as Gerald stood behind them with two of his hunters holding an Argent weapon.
"It was a good effort Issac, Blaze. It was." Gerald said as they heard what sounded like a sword making them share a look, "This would be so much more poetic if it were half time."
"What's poetic is an Agent hunter saving a werewolf. I never got to thank your son for saving me 6 years ago or letting me live at the rave after he shot me. Before you perform a Hemicorporectomy on us, be a dear and thank him for me" Blaze leaned against the sink as he glared at Gerald who seemed surprised by his words.
Gerald raised the sword as Isaac and Blaze smirked in amusement when the old man looked in the mirror behind them and caught sight of Scott with glowing yellow eyes. Scott took out the two hunters as Issac and Blaze continued to use their claws to heal themselves.
"Where is he?" Scott asked, turning around as he found Gerald was gone.
"Go find him! The game is almost over." Blaze told Scott sternly who looked hesitant on leaving them alone, "Go. We're almost healed. We'll meet you out there."
Scott left Issac and Blaze to heal themselves before they met him back out on the field where the lights were off, and everyone was running around screaming.
"The hell happened when we were gone?" Issac yelled over the screams.
"Gerald," Blaze said his name with so much rage that he preferred Jackson over him which was saying something. Blaze ran onto the field, looking for any of his friends when he ran into Charlotte, "Charlotte!"
"Oh, Blaze. Are you alright? What's going on?" Charlotte asked him as she quickly scanned him for injuries making sure he was alright.
"I don't know but you need to get out of here." Blaze said calmly as he saw people surrounding someone behind the blonde making him confused, "Who is that?"
"I don't know, someone is hurt and down on the field." Charlotte shook her head as the pair walked over. Blaze hoped that it wasn't Scott or Stiles, but his worries turned to confusion as the stadium lights turned back on and they saw Jackson lying motionless on the ground.
"Jackson! Jackson! Jackson!" Lydia screamed as she pushed her way through the small crowd and gasped as she saw her ex-boyfriend on the ground, "Jackson, what's happening."
"Lydia, come here." Blaze pulled the strawberry blonde into his arms.
Melissa pulled Jackson's jerseys up to reveal blood making everyone gasp and Lydia hid her face in Blaze's chest, "Oh my god. There's blood. There's blood."
"He did it to himself?" Blaze heard Issac's question which confused them all. What the hell was going on?
"Get down here. Get down here and hold his head, tilt it up!" Melissa demanded from Lydia who was hesitant at first but dropped to her knees to do as she had said.
The Sheriff arrived and began to look around, "Where're Stiles? Where's my son? What? Where's my son?"
Blaze's heart dropped as he began to look around for the hyperactive buzz-cut boy, but he was nowhere around.
It was a distraction.
Gerald took Stiles.
