Nothing ever lasts forever | Act 1
โ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒโ–ƒ

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The only thing he could hear.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The only thing he could focus on.

That beeping and the weight that lay on his chest as if he had a body on top of him. He tried to move his body, but everything felt impossible to do. He couldn't remember what happened or where he was.

Blaze squeezed his already-closed eyes before trying to open them with as much force as he could. Much to his relief, his eyes fluttered open but still couldn't focus on much. The Anderson boy moved his head, and a groan left his lips unwillingly.

"Blaze?" He could hear a voice make out, but it sounded so close yet so far. Blinking his eyes harshly, he looked around again and saw machines and wires, along with an empty-looking room that made him feel claustrophobic.

"Hey, you're okay." The voice said softly as they squeezed his hand which he finally took note of. Blaze turned his head and his vision started to clear up, allowing him to see Ryle who was sitting beside him, now wearing a blue shirt, dark grey joggers, and a grey sweater. His hair was messy, and he looked like he had little to no sleep.

"Ryle," Blaze muttered as he closed his eyes for a moment, feeling tired.

"Yeah, it's me. How are you feeling?" Ryle asked him, hiding his relief. When he had gotten the call from Stiles saying that Blaze was attacked and needed to be rushed to the hospital, he felt his heart drop. Not even 5 minutes before that were they hanging out and then he was almost killed. Everything happened so fast, Ryle barely remembered making it to the hospital.

Blaze looked up for a moment before everything finally started to come back to him.

The formal. Looking for Scott. Stiles screaming, Peter attacking him, Lydia's body-

Gasping, he sat up with wide eyes, "Lydia! Lyd-what happen to"

"Hey, hey. Calm down. She's okay, she's fine. Her family is with her right now. She woke up not too long ago." Ryle said softly as sat on the edge of the bed and pushed Blaze back down on the bed gently.

"Where's um-" Blaze went to say when Ryle cut him off.

"Your parents? They came yesterday but left and said they'd be here in the morning. They haven't arrived yet." Ryle told him.

Blaze chuckled, "Actually I was going to say where's Stiles? I remember him on the field last night."

"Stiles is fine. He called me and Jackson when the attack happened. He stayed around for a while before he left and came back. Scott and Stiles tried to visit when your parents were here, but they wouldn't let anyone in." Ryle explained to him.

"Assholes," Blaze grumbled as Ryle chuckled and nodded.

"My mom stopped by earlier. Brought you flowers." Ryle gave him a smirk as he nodded toward the yellow and pink tulips on the windowsill.

"How sweet." Blaze smiled at the gesture before he looked outside, "What time is it?"

"It's around 9:30. You've been out all night. They said an animal attacked you." Ryle told him, as Blaze looked down at his shoulder and saw a large bandage on top making him sigh.

"I feel fine except for this dry ass throat." Blaze rolled his eyes as he lightly coughed.

"I'll get you a drink and let your friends and doctor know you're awake," Ryle stated as he stood up.

"Let Lydia know, please. I want to see her soon." Blaze asked with hopeful eyes. If Peter had bitten them, then he knew exactly what was coming and he was hiding his panic and worried facade.

"I will. I'll be back." Ryle gave him a tight smile before he got up and left. Blaze thought he was acting weird but then again, a lot had happened last night, so he let it go, assuming it was nothing.

It wasn't long before the door opened again, and he looked over hoping to see Ryle but instead saw Stiles and Scott sneaking inside and shutting the door as if they weren't allowed inside.

"What the fuck happened last night?" Blaze demanded as Scott made Stiles sigh in relief seeing he was okay. Scott didn't hesitate to walk over and hug him tightly, letting our fear of losing Blaze go as he saw he was okay.

"You scared the hell out of us." Scott sighed as he pulled back and Stiles nodded.

"We thought you were as good as dead. You sure look it." Stiles said taking in the boy's pale skin and tired expression.

"Fuck you, Stilinski. But Ryle told me you had called him to take us to the hospital. I guess I owe you one." Blaze rolled his eyes as Stiles grinned smugly.

"Anyways, Peter is dead, and Derek is now the alpha." Scott blurted out as Blaze's eyes widen before he sighed.

"Thank fuck, he's gone. Does that mean it's over?" Blaze asked with hopeful eyes before it feel seeing the two boys grimace, "Oh god, what else?"

"The hunters know about me. Allison found out last night, shot me and Derek with an arrow, Kate Argent is dead, and you and Lydia magically healed from Peter's bite which means..." Scott trailed off.

"The werewolf life." Blaze sighed with fake enthusiasm as he fiddled with his fingers.

"We're going to help you. You'll be just fine." Scott reassured him as he sat on the edge of the bed.

"Exactly. Scott got through it and so will you. Now you guys can go running in the woods together, howling at the moon." Stile grinned before it fell seeing the annoyed look, he was getting from both of them, "Or not. Eat people together with those expressions."

"Did you guys tell Lydia yet?" Blaze asked the pair who shook their heads.

"No. We're not for sure certain you guys will turn as Peter is dead so we're just going to keep an eye out just in case. The full moon isn't for a few more days." Scott shrugged as Stiles rolled his eyes at Scott's way of hoping they weren't going to turn by thinking of every possibility. He didn't want them turning either but they were bitten. Werewolf rules.

"Wait, how did you guys know I healed." Blaze wondered curiously as he moved the banged and indeed saw nothing of there.

"We snuck in last night and checked you and Lydia while you were sleeping. Neither of you has a mark." Stiles shrugged as Blaze just nodded. Not even surprised.

"It healed pretty fast though. Mine lasted longer than a day." Scott grumbled before he shook it off and assumed it was nothing.

"Nice flowers." Stiles snickered as he saw the small pot of flowers on the windowsill.

"Thanks. Emily brought them." Blaze sighed as he laid his head down, feeling tired.

"Emily?" The boys asked in unison, both wearing confused expressions, making Blaze remember that they didn't know Ryle's mother, "Thorn. Ryle's mom."

"Oh right." Scott nodded. Glancing at the tired boy on the bed, he couldn't help but wish to hold him, ask him if he was okay and what happened on that field. Why he was on the field in the first place? Or ask him how he was handling everything about the werewolf bite and what's to come.

"If Argent tries to kill me, I'm killing Allison and his wife just to give him a reason to do so," Blaze said bluntly as Stiles nodded and Scott shook his head.

"He won't find out about you. We'll make sure of it." Scott patted his leg, just as the door opened and Ryle walked back in, holding a bottle of water.

"Oh, hey guys." Ryle smiled at the unexpected arrival, not expecting to see them in the room.

"Hey, Ryle." Stiles smiled as Scott coughed and stood up, feeling awkward being so close to the boy he liked with his boyfriend in the room, it was bad enough when he was gone.

"I didn't see you guys when I left. Your parents are here." Ryle directed the last part at Blaze who groaned.

"Don't let them in." Blaze pleaded with Ryle who gave him a tight smile.

"I'm sure they're worried about you," Scott told Blaze who looked at him for a moment before he remembered that no one knew much about him, and his parents except for Ryle and Lydia.

"Whatever, you guys should probably go. I'm sure they'll kick everyone out because their fuckers like that." Blaze sighed as Ryle nodded.

"Alright, my mom said she'd visit you later if you're up for it which means Cassie will come too and that means I'm going to be anywhere else," Ryle exclaimed as Blaze chuckled. Every time they were together, and Cassie showed up, Ryle would do anything to get away from her before she decided to ruin his life anymore.

"Yeah, I don't mind." Blaze smiled.

"We will see you later then. Don't die on us, Blaze." Stiles smirked at Blaze who gave him the finger and a fake smile.,

Scott went to say something, but nothing came out, so he just nodded and turned around. He didn't want to leave him, but he figured his parents wouldn't be happy as Blaze had mentioned and the last thing he wanted to do was be on his friend's parents' bad side.

"Text me later, and don't do anything as stupid as visiting Lydia." Ryle gave him a pointed look as Blaze frowned knowing that was exactly what he was going to do. He'll just wait for Lydia to come to visit him.

"Or getting mauled again." Stiles piped up, as Scott slapped his arm, and gave him a look making him wince, "Ow, okay. Never mind."

"I'll see you, later?" Ryle muttered to him as Blaze nodded, allowing him to place a kiss on the injured boy's lips. Standing by the door, Scott looked away from the couple, ignoring the way he could feel his heartbreaking, knowing he was never going to get to experience that with Blaze.

"It doesn't get better," Stiles whispered to Scott seeing the look on his face and he knew by experience how that felt. His comment got him another glare from Scott who opened the door.

"Let the devils in," Blaze said sarcastically as they chuckled and walked out of the room, leaving him to the wrath of his parents.

โ”โ”โ”

The sun was beginning to set which made the sun glow orange and yellow in Blaze's hospital room. His parents had stayed for a bit while talking about different bullshit that Blaze had zoned them out after the first 20 minutes of them being there.

Thankfully, the doctor had seen that the bite was gone which confused everyone greatly, but they couldn't do anything but release him as he appeared to be fine. His parents had left to sign the papers, leaving Blaze with Ryle who had come back and surprisingly wasn't kicked out by his parents.

"I can't wait to leave this place." Blaze sighed happily as Ryle nodded, not saying much. Blaze felt like something was wrong with him as he had been quiet ever since he came back, and it started to get on Blaze's nerves.

"Is everything okay with you? You're quiet." Blaze asked him. Ryle glanced up from the book he was staring at before taking a deep breath. He didn't want to do this, but he knew it was for the better.

"We still have a few questions left from our game," Ryle said, standing up at the end of the bed.

"Okay?"

"How long have you been lying to me?" Ryle asked bluntly, no expression on his face as Blaze's eyes went wide.

"W-what? What are you talking about? I'm not lying about anything." Blaze shook his head as his heart begin to race. This is exactly what he didn't want to happen.

"Yes, you are and you're lying to me now," Ryle exclaimed with a scoff.

"Ryle, I'm not-"

"I think you lying about what happened last night on the field."ย  Ryle stood up and crossed his arms.

"What? Why the fuck would I lie about being attacked on the field?" Blaze laughed with no humor.

"I don't know. I just find it odd, then you happen to be on the field at the same time as a mountain lion. "Ryle scoffed.

"Do you think I fucking called it up just to attack not just me, but my best friend?" Blaze snapped angrily.ย

"No, but I don't think it was a mountain lion at all." Ryle smiled tightly as Blaze stared at him, trying not to appear so frantic, "Do you think I'm a fucking idiot or something?"

"No-"

"I was the one that found you, Blaze, after Stiles had called me. Yet, he was nowhere to be found when not only his longtime crush, but a best friend was lying half dead on the ground. That's the part that throws me off, but you know what throws me off? The fact that I spent 10 minutes straight, holding my hand over your shoulder because you were bleeding out so God damn fucking fast, I thought you were going to die! and yet there's not a fucking scar to prove it." Ryle exclaimed as he looked at Blaze's shoulder.

Blaze didn't know what to say as he glanced down at his hands, leaving Ryle more upset than mad, "It's fine if you don't want to tell me the truth. I know there's weird shit in this town that appears to have you gotten wrapped in it and I assume you're not telling me for a good reason, which is why I never brought it up." Ryle bit his lip.

Taking a deep breath, Ryle moved to sit down beside Blaze on the bed and grabbed his hand, making Blaze look up at him, "That does not even want I wanted to talk to you about. That was just one of our current problems."ย

"What's the other?" Blaze muttered quietly. This night was not going as he planned.

Ryle was quiet for a moment, " I love you, Blaze."

Four little words made Blaze's eyes snap towards him, completely in shock as he didn't expect that words to come out of his mouth. He didn't even know how to comprehend those words. Those words no one has ever told him. He couldn't even remember the last time his parents said those words to him.

"Hell, I'm so fucking in love with you, that I thought about not doing this, just suffering through it but I can't." Rye closed his eyes and shook his head.

"What are you talking about?" Blaze tensed, hating the way he said those words. He felt like he knew what was to come and his heart was slowly breaking, hoping he was just overthinking it.

"I know you like me, and I have a feeling you love me as well. I know you wouldn't have tried so hard to be with me and keep your little secrets if you didn't." Ryle chuckled lowly.

"Of course, I love you. How could I not?" Blaze smiled at him, but Ryle looked away with watery eyes, "Ryle-"

"You may love me, but you're not in love with me." Ryle said as Blaze appeared confused, "What are you talking about? I am-"

"You're not. Not in the way you love him." Ryle blurted out, leaving Blaze more confused than ever.

"I'm not in love with anyone else. I don't even know what you're talking about." Blaze exclaimed with wide eyes.

"I've seen it. The way you act with him and the way you seem to have something more with him than you'll ever have with me." Ryle asked as a small tear from his eye.

"Who the fuck are you talking about?" Blaze asked as his eyes glossed over and he sat up, knowing this was going exactly where he knew it was going.

"The fact that you don't even see it, seems to make this worse. Everyone sees it but you." Ryle told him softly. "You have feelings for more than one person and yes it's possible to not even know it."

"Ry-"

"It's okay. I'm not angry. Ryle held his hand tightly, "I know you can't help who you love. But because I love you, I can't be with you."

"Don't do this." Blaze shook his head as for the first time in his life, he felt utter pain.

"You need to figure out your feelings. Figure out all of this. You can't even tell me whatever is going on with you, or what truly happened, and as I said, that's okay but I want to be with someone who feels the need to lie to me instead of trusting me." Ryle exclaimed.

"I will, I'll tell you anything." Blaze tried to tell him, but all Ryle did was shake his head, "I don't even care. It won't change anything about us."ย

"So, you're breaking up with me, because you claim I have feelings for someone else, yet won't even tell me who I supposedly have these feelings for. Are you fucking serious right now?" Blaze snapped as he started to feel anger course through his body, "Who exactly is everyone actually? Because I would love to know who knows about my feelings more than I do."

Ryle didn't say anything as he glanced down at Blaze's hand which was still in his hand, "I will always love you, Blaze. You never really forgot you're first love. But you have more things to worry about so yes, I'm letting you go. I want you to be happy."

"I am happy. I'm happy with you." Blaze reasoned but stopped talking when Ryle leaned forward and placed the smallest kiss on his forehead, leaving tears to well up in his eyes as he realized he wasn't going to change his mind.

He was losing Ryle.

"Just be happy. That's all I want." Ryle muttered to him as a few tears left his eyes before he got up and grabbed his jacket before walking out, taking a pause and making Blaze think he was going to say something else, but he didn't as he stepped out and walked away.

Leaving a shocked Blaze to overthink everything that just happened as he stared at the spot, Ryle was just at. A spot that was soon occupied by Lydia who demanded to come to visit her best friends but paused when she saw the expression on his face.

"Hey, what happened? Where did Ryle go?" Lydia asked, having seen the boy leaving own the hall.

"Left," Blaze muttered as tears appeared in his eyes and he looked away as his lips begin to tremble, he came to terms with the fact that he was just dumped by his boyfriend who just confessed to being in love with him.

"Oh, Blaze." Lydia understood right away, and her heart broke for her best friend as she walked over to him and engulfed him in her arms as he began to cry. Holding him and comforting him as he did for her so many times.

โ”โ”โ”

Lydia held Blaze as he numbly lay on the bed, having yet to be released from the hospital. He barely said a word as Lydia muttered curses about the boys whose death she was planning. She had no idea what had happened but all she knew was that he broke her best friend's heart, so she was planning on breaking his face, life, and reputation.ย

While they lay quietly, the door suddenly opened, "Hey, Blaze. I heard someone is-" Stile's loudmouth said as he walked inside with Scott who nudged him in the ribs as they saw the glare Lydia was sending them and the look on Blaze's tear-stained face.

"Woah- What happened?" Stiles asked with wide eyes as Blaze sighed and moved from Lydia so he could sit up.

"What are you guys doing here?" He asked them, not in the mood for any more of their wild behavior.

"Your parents wanted me to tell you that they are waiting in the car for you, and to give you these." Scott gave him a small smile, as he handed him the bag filled with clothes and anything else he might need.ย

"Fucking assholes," Lydia muttered under her breath. They couldn't even wait until their son was ready or even okay. Nope, just in a rush to move on with their day.

"Where's Ryle?" Scott asked looking around for the boy who Stiles said was here earlier. Lydia glared harshly at him as Blaze tensed.

"Don't know, don't care." Blaze scoffed, rolling his eyes as Scott and Stiles shared a look, coming to realize that whatever Blaze was so upset about had something to do with Ryle, making Scott feel bad for bringing him up.

"We will leave so you can get ready. I will be outside until you're done so I can say goodbye to you. Luck you can leave." Lydia gave him a fake smile which Blaze barely returned but it was enough for her.

"Get out!" Lydia hissed at the two boys who scrambled to open the door, making Blaze over at them, but his eyes drifted behind them, towards the emergency door where an ambulance had just shown up and doctors were rushing towards the door.

The EMTs and Doctors rolled in somebody who the group could barely see but out of curiosity, Blaze walked towards the door to watch with the others, "Blunt force trauma to the head, chest, and abdomen. Persistent hypotension, after two liters of saline, poses thready at 130." The EMT said to the doctors.

"He is not going to live." Lydia frowned as they watched the doctors from across the hall, but Blaze had caught onto something. The victim's hand lay resting beside him, a blue and red threaded bracelet that Blaze knew all too well.

"How the fuck are you doing this? Mine won't turn properly." Ryle frowned as he sat in the library with Blaze, making bracelets instead of studying.

"Here. Have this one. I'm already done. I'll keep the black and red one." Blaze chuckled as he handed him the blue and red one, he had just finished making.

"Put it on for me," Ryle smirked at him as he held his wrist out and leaned his chin n his other hand as he watched Blaze smile before tying the bracelet around his wrist.

"Ryle," Blaze choked out with wide eyes as his body started to feel cold. A dreadful feeling traveled through his body.

"What?" Stiles, Scott, and Lydia asked him in confusion. They didn't hear the doctors say his name so how could he tell it was Ryle? Blaze ignored them, as his feet moved on their own, closer to the door.

"Ryle!" They heard Emily's frantic voice as she ran into the hospital with Cassie behind her, "Where's my son? They said he was in an accident." She asked one of the nurses who tried to calm her.ย

"Oh, my god." Lydia gasped as she realized that the victim was indeed Ryle.

Emily moved beside them as she saw her son in the room and begin to cry. Stiles grabbed Cassie's hand and moved her away from the scene, so she didn't have to witness, her brother in such a state.

"Blaze-" Scott said putting a hand on his shoulder, waiting for him to leave as well so he didn't have to watch this happen, but he was ignored by Blaze who started at the scene in front of him with a dazed expression.

Muffled noises rang through his ears as if someone had put earplugs in his ears and tried to block out the sound of the doctors rushing to save Ryle, who lay perfectly still. Not a finger moved, or a small heave of breath came from his body.

Voices were heard around Blaze but all he could focus on was the doctors pounding on his boyfriend's chest, doing everything in their power to stop the boy from dying, but it wasn't enough as someone had pulled the earplugs from Blaze's ears, allowing him to hear the sound of the flatline.

"NO! NO, NO, NO. RYLE!" Emily screamed as she begins to frantically sob, making the Sheriff who arrived grab her to stop her from running toward him.

Lydia put a hand over her mouth to stop the cries from escaping her lips. She looked at Blaze who was paler than usual and didn't have one tear in his eye, making her worry.

All he could focus on was the flatlining sound ringing in his ear, he stumbled back as his chest begin to move faster than usual and his throat felt like it was closing in.

"Blaze-" Scott went to say but his words went straight through Blaze's ears.

"Time of death. 15:07." Was the last thing Blaze heard before a small sob escape his lips.

"Oh, my god." He gasped as his eyes filled with tears as he snapped out of his shock and began to sob violently for the first time in weeks, "Ryle-" He cried as his legs felt weak as he went to walk over to the room, but Scott grabbed him before he could.

"Scott-" Blaze tried to fight out of his grip but with how weak his body felt and the werewolf's strong grip, he didn't get very far. He couldn't do anything but sob as he came to realize that the love of his life was gone. He was dead and never coming back.

He cried as he realized all of the things he could never get to experience. Traveling the world, graduating, all of the little things in life that he wanted to do, he would now never get the chance to do.

Ryle would never know that he was wrong. That Blaze was in love with him, and he always had been.

Before he had left, Blaze came to terms that he was losing Ryle but as he cried and watched the lifeless body of his first love, he realized that he was no longer losing him as he had already lost him.

I'm sorry

This is honesty my first time writing a scene like this which is a bit unbelievable but whatever, it's done and I tried to skim right through it to keep the sadness at bay. (Which didn't work)

I'm so in love with Ryle and Blaze and I'm sad they have to go but they had their time and I need to prepare for Blaze and Scott (who don't happened until book 2, another sorry)

Ryle was such a kind and understanding soul and I really did him dirty but it was needed so I love you Ryle and goodbye.
