The Bite | Act 1
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

CRASHING MELISSA'S DATE, Jackson almost dying, Derek and Scott being shot at, Derek missing, and now Allison's life was in danger due to Peter who has threatened her, knowing how special she was to Scott, dating or not. All of that in just a mere 24 hours. Less than 24 hours to be technical.

The Winter Formal was coming up and Blaze could already see it being a disaster which dampened his entire mood. He planned on asking Ryle to the dance but with everything going on, he doubted the night would even go as planned, leaving Ryle once again disappointed. The secrets and constantly having to bail on Ryle were starting to affect their relationship. Blaze knew Ryle hated liars and that's all he ever did to him.

Lie.

Every plan they tried to make kept getting rescheduled and the lies were getting harder to come up with. Blaze was starting to rethink whether the whole dating thing was a good idea. Ryle deserved someone who could be honest with him and be able to spend time with him, not someone who has to constantly be running off to deal with werewolf problems.

He thought back to his conversation with Scott, "I don't want to break things off just because of her family and my secret."

He finally felt like he understood what he was saying. The werewolf secret wasn't even his to keep so why was he letting it ruin his relationship? He liked Ryle, beyond words he could even explain, and he's never felt like this for someone before, and the thought of even losing what they had made his heart hurt.

Blaze told Scott to let Allison go if he felt like he couldn't trust her. Asked her if she was worth it. Putting his life at risk for her instead of letting her go.

Was letting Scott go worth keeping Ryle? Letting go of all the werewolf bullshit so he could be happy with Ryle. The boy who made his heart flutter, the boy who managed to put a smile on his face at just the thought.

He liked the idea. The idea of holding hands with Ryle down the down, going on stupid cheesy dates, dancing at clubs.

Being together.

And he was not about to lose Ryle to a problem that wasn't even his own. Peter was Scott and Derek's problem. Not his.

━━━

Avoiding Stiles and Scott turned out to be more of a hassle than Blaze originally thought. The pair had been trying to talk to him all day, but he kept dodging them. The only thing he did hear from them was that Jackson was taking Allison to the formal and Scott was banned from the dance that he was going to anyways.

He didn't bother asking why or what else was happening as he just nodded and walked away to go find Allison and Lydia so they could go to the mall, and buy their dresses for the formal, they were allowed to go to.

"Why the frown? What's up?" Blaze asked the brunette who looked gloomy.

"Nothing's wrong. I just, have a lot on my mind." Allison said awkwardly. Now something Blaze picked up on was the fact that the girl was also avoiding him as he avoided Scott and Stiles which made him curious but ignored it.

"You could smile, at least. Ever heard of the saying, "Never frown-- someone could be falling in love with your smile?" Lydia said giving her a pointed look.

"Smile, Allison. She's buying you a dress." Blaze nudged the girl who shrugged.

"Have to admit, as far as apologies go, that's more than I expected..."

"Excellent!" Lydia grinned.

" ...But not as much as I'm going to ask," Allison told her.

"What? What's that supposed to mean?" Lydia asked as they walked off the escalator and stood at the front of the store.

"It means you're going to cancel on whatever dumb, 'roided-up jock you said yes to and you're going to go with somebody else," Allison said piquing Blaze's interest.

"I like this. Who?" Blaze asked her.

"Him." Allison nodded towards Stiles who was sniffing a perfume before he sprayed it in his face, making him cough and stumble before he caught sight of the three looking at him and smiled and waved.

"Don't frown, Lydia!" Allison smirked.

"Someone could be falling in love with your smile." Blaze finished as he fist-bumped Allison, glad to know he wasn't the only one wanting them together.

"Okay. Now, I'm going to go look around. I need to make sure I'm the hottest guy there. Cmon, Ali. You're with me." Blaze said dragging the brunette with him as Lydia went off with Stiles.

"So, what kind of dress are you looking for?" Blaze asked as they walked around the stores, eyeing different items that caught their attention.

"Nothing too flashy." Allison told him with a look knowing that's exactly something he'd try and pick out for her, "I don't know. I guess I'll know when I see it."

"Sounds good. I don't want a normal suit. I'm not one for a tie. I like flashy." Blaze winked at her, making her chuckle.

"How are you and Scott? Any closer to rekindling your epic love or is that done, done?" Blaze asked her, as she coughed awkwardly.

"Done. Done. Wouldn't you know? You're pretty close to him." Allison said eyeing him from the side.

"I guess so, but I've been avoiding him lately. Much like you've been avoiding me." Blaze shrugged.

"What, no, I-"

"Save it, I don't care nor am I hurt about it. I'm sure you have your reasons as I have mine. I'm too focused on my relationship with Ryle to care about other people's problems." Blaze exclaimed as they walked down a wall of dresses.

"That sounds lovely." Allison said awkwardly, "How did you and Scott even become friends? You seem so different."

"I met Scott and Stiles when they were being picked on one day. Scared the bullies off before deciding to introduce myself. They were alright so I hung around them every once and a while and now here we are." Blaze told her.

"For just friends, you guys seem close lately," Allison said wanting to know how he felt about Scott as she already knew his feelings towards him.

"We've had mutual troubles lately. I've been helping him out with it. He's a good person, almost too good for his own good. He also reminds me of a puppy so it's hard to deny anything he asks." Blaze rolled his eyes as Allison looked at him and nodded.

"But enough of your ex-lover, if I were to ask Ryle to the dance, you think he'd say yes?" Blaze asked Allison as he tried not to act as if he was nervous.

"Do I think your boyfriend would say yes to going to the winter formal?" Allison repeated as Blaze nodded, "Obviously he'd say yes. That man is head over heels for you."

"Good because I have yet to ask him, and the dance is coming up. I've never felt his nervousness over something as stupid as a dance." Blaze chuckled in disbelief.

"You really like him, don't you?" Allison couldn't help but smile as did Blaze who looked away.

"Shut up." Blaze told her as the brunette laughed, "But yes. I do. Have you met the guy? What's not to love?"

Allison glanced at him in surprise, but Blaze didn't seem to notice what he said as he picked up different dresses, so she decided to keep quiet about it and let him figure that stuff out on his own. She couldn't help but wonder how Scott was dealing with this. Allison had seen the way they interacted that night at the school and the way they look at each other. It made it hard for her to believe that there was never something more going on between them. Especially as Blaze looks at Ryle and Scott, the same.

"Okay, because you off into your own head. I'm going to look around and you can figure out own in your head." Blaze smirked at the brunette, snapping her out of her thoughts.

"Might as well go naked. That's quite flashy." Allison called after him, as he turned to look at her.

"Trust me, I'll hopefully be quite naked and flashy after the dance." Blaze winked at her as she cringed, making him chuckle as he walked over to the suits to find something he would look amazing in.

He walked around for a bit, looking at different clothes but nothing seems to catch his attention. What did catch his attention was Scott who was hiding behind a wall, looking like a creep.

"The fuck are you doing?" Blaze asked him, making the boy jump out of his skin as he spins around to face him.

"W-what. Nothing. Just looking around." Scott coughed as he touched a random shirt as if he were shopping around.

"Right. So, you're not standing behind a wall looking like a stalker. What are you doing?" Blaze asked with a raised eyebrow.

So much for ignoring him.

"Allison." Scott sighed as Blaze took a deep breath before nodding, "What are you doing?"

"Unlike you, I'm actually shopping. Or at least trying to." Blaze shrugged.

"You're also trying to avoid me—us," Scott said blankly, quickly fixing his wording before he could notice which he thankfully didn't.

"Yes, I have been. But I can't do that when you're looking like a creep and piquing my interest." Blaze said bluntly, making Scott frown.

"Why are you avoiding us?" Scott asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"Because Scotty, your terrible life is starting to affect mine. I know you're having a rough time lately but unfortunately, I'm not willing to ruin my relationship with Ryle—who I barely get to see because I'm constantly with you. So, I've decided to ignore every supernatural problem and try to live a normal life instead of dealing with a problem that isn't mine to deal with." Blaze exclaimed.

Scott looked at him for a moment before he gulped and looked away and nodded, "So you've just decided to act like I don't exist? Like werewolves don't exist to-to have a normal life. Knowing about this makes it just as much as your problem Blaze."

"No, it doesn't actually. Being around you and being your friend has put my life at risk. Ryle and I almost died, we all almost died because the alpha wanted you. We were supposed to have a good night together but like usual I got dragged into your werewolf problem and we all almost died. I almost died! And now, all I do is blow Ryle off, and not in the way that I want to because I'm too busy with you and your problems. So, yea, I am going to stop being your friend because I actually want to be with Ryle. I want to be happy with him and unfortunately, that's not in the cards for me if I'm around you and Stiles." Blaze ranted as Scott tried to hide his hurt by nodding his head.

"Fine. We won't bother you with our problems anymore while you run off and play in fairytale land. You chose to stick around us and to help out. You could've left, you could've ignored this from the beginning, but you didn't want. So instead of blaming me for something I didn't ask for, perhaps ask yourself why you chose to hang around us, even after your life was in danger. Ask yourself why you choose to put your life in danger by coming with me that night at the school because I never asked you to come." Scott said snidely as he pushed past a surprised Blaze and left the store.

What the fuck just happened?

━━━

"Fuck, yes," Blaze smirked, as he admired himself in Lydia's mirror. The strawberry blonde had helped him pick out a simple suit after Scott had left and he knew he looked good. He always did.

"If you weren't my best friend and gay. I would totally date you." Lydia nodded, as she looked him up and down, messing with his hair a bit so it looked good.

"And if pussy didn't disgust me, I'd date you, too, Lyds." Blaze winked at her through the mirror, where she sat at her vanity table applying her makeup, wearing a nude dress.

"Are you nervous? First real dance with the boyfriend." Lydia grinned happily at Blaze who chuckled.

"A bit yeah. Fuck, I had to ask him over the phone because we took too long at the mall, and it sort of dampened my mod on tonight." Blaze frowned. If he hadn't been so busy with the werewolf drama, he would have remembered to ask his boyfriend to the formal.

"Perhaps ask yourself why you chose to hang around us."

Scott's words rang in his head. He knew why he hung around them. He got dragged into the supernatural world, kind of hard to walk away from that. Scott might have made a point but that didn't change the fact that his whole life was starting to become shit because of that, so he is doing what he should've done from the beginning. Walk away. Truth be told, he didn't want to, he enjoyed the losers' company from time to time, but he couldn't seem to do both, and he refused to lie to Ryle even more than he already has.

Maybe I could tell Ryle everything and then I wouldn't have to lie, and I could still hang around Scott and Stiles. Blaze suddenly thought. It was dangerous for him to know and not to know but he'd have a better chance at surviving if he did, so maybe that's what he should do.

"Blaze!" He snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Lydia who was giving him an annoyed yet concerned look.

"What?"

"I said you're name like three times. What are you thinking so hard about?" Lydia asked him.

"Ryle," Blaze muttered as he played with the sleeves of his jacket and sat down on her bed.

"Thinking about how good the sex will be to tonight? You are planning on doing that right?" Lydia spun around in her chair with an excited grin on her face.

"That's not something I can plan by myself." Blaze chuckled as he rolled his eyes.

"Blaze Anderson, planning a night of sex instead of just seducing them into it. You sound so... responsible." Lydia shivered dramatically at the word 'responsible'.

"I'm most definitely not responsible, I just... I just want to have a good night. That's all." Blaze shrugged a small smile that grew as Lydia sent him a teasing smile, "Shut up."

"You excited for tonight?" Blaze asked the strawberry blonde who sighed and rolled her eyes.

"My ex-boyfriend is going with my best friend and I'm forced to go with some kid whose name I can't even remember. My night is already ruined." Lydia frowned as she applied red lipstick.

"Jackson is an idiot who doesn't deserve you and if you ever take him back, I'm ruining your reputation. Stiles is kind and sweet. He's also hilarious. You'll have a great time with him. Give him a chance, will you? The same thing you told me with Ryle." Blaze gave her a look.

"Whatever. If I had it my way, I would've gone with Allison's ex-boyfriend just to be petty." Lydia rolled her eyes as Blaze laughed.

"Scott? Yeah, he's cool too. You'd like him if you ever actually bothered to be friends with him." Blaze said as Lydia scoffed.

"I have better things to do when befriending some random boys whose name I never remember." Lydia said as she stood up and walked over to her bed where she left her heels, "Especially when I've seen you ignoring him all day. Any reason for that?"

"I'm just too focused on other things." Blaze shrugged as he glanced down at his hands, wondering if he was doing the right thing. He hated to admit it but he felt bad for just trying to ditch them so he could have a good life without that drama.

"Well then, my date should be here any minute. Shouldn't you be leaving?" Lydia told the boy whose heart started to race as he nodded and stood up, "Wait let's take a picture."

"Of course." Blaze shook his head fondly as they took not one but at least 20 pictures until they heard a honk from outside, making the pair grin at each other.

"I'll meet you there?" Lydia asked the boy who nodded and went their separate ways until they meet up at the dance.

━━━

Blaze pulled into the school parking lot already seeing people making their way into the school, "Is that Lydia with Stiles?" Ryle asked as he saw the boy fumbling out of his car before opening the door for Lydia.

"Yep. Allison made her go with Stiles for kissing Scott. Perfect karma if you ask me." Blaze grinned as Ryle chuckled. Blaze thought his best friend was a cunt for kissing him but who was he to judge? They were cunts together, so they had to support each other.

"I thought she didn't like Scott, why'd she kiss him?" Ryle asked in confusion as they got out of the car, "Does she even know his name?"

"Barely and I have no idea and I don't care. You ready for this boring night?" Blaze shrugged he rose an eyebrow at Ryle who rolled his eyes playfully as he grabbed his arm.

"Well, it's no party without us. I hope there's alcohol." Ryle said, as the pair laughed and started making their way to the dance.

"I told Danny to bring some," Blaze said as he glanced up at the roof and saw Scott walking across, making him chuckle.

"What's so funny?" Ryle asked him, making Blaze cough awkwardly.

"Um, nothing. Come on. Let's go find, Danny." Blaze shook his head as they walked inside the gym and automatically began to look for their other gay friend.

Eventually finding Danny and introducing boyfriends, the four of them drank spiked punch while giggling around a table like a bunch of schoolgirls.

"I don't think they're having much fun," Ryle told Blaze as he pointed towards the table where Stiles and Lydia who sitting, looking bored out of their minds.

"I'm sure they'll get up eventually, if not. I'll make them." Blaze smirked as Ryle chuckled, "Allison and Jackson look even worse."

They all looked to see Allison and Jackson awkwardly dancing but had small smiles as they tried to enjoy their time together, "I have the worst secondhand embarrassment and that's not helping." Blaze cringed.

"I thought she liked Scott. What happened to them? It didn't last long." Ryle wondered aloud.

"Scott said he wasn't feeling it and Allison's not a complete idiot, so she dumped him. He'll find someone else eventually. I won't be surprised if it's soon." Blaze shrugged as he gulped down his drink.

"Enough gossiping. Wanna dance? I see Stiles trying to drag Lydia as well." Blaze said as he stood up, looking down at Ryle with a look saying that he didn't have a choice in the matter.

Ryle glanced down at Blaze's awaiting hand before looking back at him and smiled as he softly shook his head, "I'd rather not be dragged out there." Ryle smirked as he grabbed Blaze's hand and they joined everyone on the dance floor.

The pair danced together and quietly laughed for each other as they gossiped about everyone around them until Ryle left to get them new drinks.

"You too seem happy," Danny said as Blaze walked back over to their table with a smile on his face.

"Yeah, we are. Not something that happens often huh? Where's your date?" The Anderson boy asked him as he stood with his hands in his pockets.

"Getting us drinks as well," Danny said before Scott rushed over to the pair looking in a panic.

"One of you dance with me," Scott said urgently, making them confused.

"What?" Danny and Blaze asked in unison.

"Dance with me." Scott said looking at Danny who pulled a face, "No."

"Please! Right now. Right now!" Scott practically begged as Blaze saw Coach coming towards them, making him roll his eyes as he grabbed Scott by the waist and pulled him into the dance floor.

"McCall! You're not supposed to--" Coach snapped before he paused at the sight of the two boys dancing, "What the hell are you doing-- What the hell are you doing?"

"Yes, Coach?" Scott asked innocently as he stepped close to Blaze who wore an amused smile on his face.

By now, everyone had stopped what they were doing to watch them as the music stopped playing making Coach nervous, "Okay, ho-ho-ho, ha-ha. Hold on, you-- I was just saying he's not supposed to-- I mean, I wasn't saying that he shouldn't-- You guys don't think-- You don't-- I-I was--"

"You were what?" Blaze asked with a raised eyebrow as the older man gulped and started to back up into the crowd.

"Just dance, everybody! Just dance! Dance! It's a party!" Coach laughed it off before he disappeared.

Scott glanced back at Blaze before the two of them started to laugh, "Oh my god. He looked so scared." Blaze chuckled.

"Thought he was about to faint or something. Perhaps quite his job." Scott laughed before he stopped seeing how close he was to Blaze and the fact that they were still slowly dancing making him drop his arms and step back, "Thanks for that. I owe you."

"Don't worry about it. What are friends for?" Blaze asked with a smirk, but he didn't notice the uncomfortable look on Scott's face. He had watched Ryle and Blaze laugh and dance all night and all he felt was his heart breaking even more.

"I-I should go." Scott stammered as he went to leave when Blaze caught his arm.

"Are you okay?" Blaze asked him, concern written on his face as Scott stared at him for a moment before nodding and giving him a tight smile.

"I'm fine." Scott nodded as he hit his lip and turned around to walk away, leaving behind a confused Blaze who didn't like seeing him so upset but he assumed it had to do with their fight earlier and how Blaze said he didn't want to be around him anymore. He felt guilt, something he didn't feel often as he watched Scott walk away, clearly upset but didn't make a move to follow him.

While he was watching Scott, he didn't notice Ryle watching him as he leaned against the wall near the drink table. He saw the entire interaction, and it was not the first time he'd seen it. The eye contact, the closeness, the connection they seem to share.

It didn't take a genius to figure out that Scott had a crush on Blaze, and he was trying to hide it which Ryle respected him for, but it also didn't take a genius to see that Blaze felt something for him as well. Maybe he doesn't even realize it, but Ryle could see it. Especially the night at school. The way Blaze risked his life just to make sure Scott was safe was enough for Ryle to know that they shared something, even if it was something small. Something that went deeper than what he and Blaze shared.

━━━

The dance was starting to get boring as Blaze sat on the bleachers drinking the spiked punch as he watched everyone dance. He could see Ryle talking with a few of the players from the lacrosse team and he could see Lydia and Stiles still dancing making him smile.

He saw Allison leave with Scott earlier, so he assumed they were up to no good as they'd been gone quite a while. He wondered if they ditched, seems like something they'd do.

"Fuck." Blaze muttered under his breath. He completely forgot that he wanted to ask Scott about the telling Ryle thing. It wasn't his secret to tell, and he doubt Scott would be okay with it, as he has a huge hero complex but if he still wanted to be friends then perhaps, he'll let him.

Getting up, he began to walk down the steps to find Scott when he ran into Ryle, "Oh hey, Blaze. I wanted to talk to you for a minute." Ryle said which made Blaze grimace.

"Can it wait just a minute? I'm looking for Scott and it's really important. I'm sorry, I'll be right back." Blaze said with an apologetic tone, but he was already walking away before Ryle could respond to him.

Blaze had no idea where the two ex-couples were so he opted to walk around until he could find them. He wondered where two exes go for such a long period and soon enough found himself walking across the lacrosse field.

"Scott?" Blaze called out as he looked around the dark idea, "Allison!"

"Jackson!" Blaze suddenly heard from behind him, making him turn to see Lydia also walking across the field.

"Lydia. You, looking for Jackson?" Blaze asked as they met in the middle of the field.

"Yeah, I can't find him anywhere." Lydia huffed in annoyance when the lights above the bleachers started turning on.

All four of them. One after the other.

"Jackson? Is that you?" Lydia put a hand over her eyes to focus more on the figure she saw by the bleachers.

"What are you looking at?" Blaze asked in confusion as he turned around and his heart dropped when he seen the figure walking towards them. He grabbed Lydia's hand as he took a step backward, feeling as if they shouldn't be there.

"Lydia maybe we should-" He was cut off once more by a loud yell.

"LYDIA! BLAZE! RUN!" Stiles screamed as they turned around to see Stiles rushing towards them in a panic, making Blaze and Lydia confused before they turned back towards the figure and Blaze froze at the sight.

Peter Hale in front of them, fangs bared before he felt a sourcing pain shoot from his shoulder, making Blaze scream in pain, his body stumbling before his legs gave out and he collapsed on the grass, feeling his eye life grow heavy.

The last thing he knew was Stiles's screams and Lydia's equally bloody body falling beside his, before they both fall unconscious, not having any idea what was going on the rest of the night.
