TWO, a two-year-late apology
mWE MISS YOU so much, Morgan!" Marion Fallon spoke through the phone. Morgan chuckled as she set the phone on her bathroom counter.
"I miss you two more," Morgan smiled, concentrating on squeezing an average amount of toothpaste onto her toothbrush.
"It's so lame being the only two Americans back at university now," Giovanni complained as he turned his face time camera on.
Marion nodded in agreement, watching Morgan hold her hair back and spit into the sink, out of the camera frame. After finishing brushing her teeth, Morgan stared at her phone.
"If you miss me that much, I could come back for a weekend or week?"
"YES!" was the answer from the other two friends.
Morgan laughed loudly as her two friends gave each other dirty looks for being loud. Marion sighed out loud, propping her phone on her computer as she began to type.
"There's a cheap flight to Boston that leaves tomorrow morning," she shrugged, hoping she could go visit her best friend.
"Marion Jane, I only left two days ago," Morgan pouted at Marion while applying her mango lip balm. Giovanni huffed at Morgans attitude.
"It's almost like you don't want to see us," he frowned sarcastically.
"Hey!" Morgan yelped defensively. "Of course, I want to see you, asshole. I just have some things on this week and I'd feel bad if you flew all the way here just for me to be out most of the time."
Marion and Giovanni nodded understandingly, though seconds later Marion clicked aggressively on her computer mouse before smiling smugly.
"See you tomorrow, Morgie!"
"No, you did not!" Morgan gaped at her redhead friend. "Mary Jane!" She scolded her friend, unable to wipe the excited smile off her face.
"Don't look so sad Gio, you're coming too!"
That sentence from Marion Fallon was enough to wipe Giovanni's frown off his face and cause him to stand up and dance in celebration. The two girls chuckled at him waiting for the boy to calm down so they could say their goodbyes.
"I guess I'll see you two tomorrow then," Morgan smiled widely. "Do you need uncle Ted and I to pick you up or?"
"Oh that would be great, thanks Ginny," Giovanni Watson beamed.
"Okay, let me just ask Teddy." Morgan paused, walking out of the bathroom with her phone in her hand. "TEDDY?" She yelled out, unsure of where in the house her uncle was.
"In the kitchen, Morg!"
She made her way to the kitchen where her uncle sat sipping on a cafe bought coffee and reading the newspaper. How cliche.
"Mary and Gio are coming to Boston tomorrow!" Morgan quickly spoke, flashing the face time in front of the man's shocked face.
"Already?! Sweet," he laughed, waving at the two familiar faces on the phone.
"Are we able to pick them up from the airport tomorrow?"
Ted March thought for a moment, opening his phone calendar to see what he had planned for that day.
"That depends. What time?"
"We leave at six am, Boston time and the flight is almost eight hours so we'll be there by about two pm?" Marion spoke, looking at her computer with squinting eyes.
"Oh," Teddy scrunched his face up. "I have a meeting then but Morgan, you can always ask Matt, Chris and Nick to go for a drive?'
Morgan pursed her lips and nodded.
"I can go over now and ask, then let you guys know," she spoke into the phone.
"Okay, see you tomorrow, Ginny!"
"Bye guys, love you!" Morgan smiled, blowing kisses at the camera before hanging up.
Ted smiled at his niece before going back to his newspaper. Morgan shoved her phone into the back pocket of her jeans, un-clasping her bracelet from her turtleneck jumper.
"I'm going next door, be back soon," she kissed her uncle on the cheek before walking out of the house and over to the next.
Once again, Morgan braced herself, knocked on the door and gulped nervously. This time, Matt Sturniolo's face was met with Morgans.
"Morgan, hey. Come in!"
Morgan greeted the boy back, accepting his invitation to come inside. She walked through the warm home pausing to talk to Jim Sturniolo and to pet the family dog, Trevor.
"Guys, Morgan's here," Matthew smiled at his brothers as he walked into the kitchen where his two brothers were filming an outro to a Youtube video.
"Moe! Come say hi and then bye," Nick called her over. Morgan hesitantly walked over to where Nick and Chris squished her in the middle of the frame.
"Hi, I'm Morgan!" She awkwardly laughed, not knowing what to say. "Leave a like, subscribe, turn on that notification thingy and keep pussy slaying!" She spoke in a mocking tone of many of the Youtubers she used to watch.
Nick and Chris began laughing loudly and high-fiving the girl while also pulling Matt into the frame. Matt walked around the back, resting his elbows upon Morgan's shoulders.
"Okay, bye!" Matthew Sturniolo smiled, taking the camera from Nick to kiss it and end the video.
Morgan grinned in amusement at her childhood friends and followed them outside to where MaryLou's minivan was parked. The girl smiled widely, she thought the car would've been gone by the time she got back from France but it wasn't.
"You wanna go for a drive?" Matt asked her, dangling the keys in front of her face.
"Fuck yeah."
The quartet drove by their old favorite places, stopping at one in particular. One with many memorable backstories. Matt and Chris's lacrosse practice field.
"No way!" Morgan gaped at where Matt pulled up. So many old memories flooded her mind, one, in particular, made her turn away from the triplets while turning a dark shade of red.
Chris opened his door, waiting patiently for the rest of them to climb out of the car.
"Last one to the bleachers has to pay for McDonald's on the way home!" Chris yelled, taking off towards the pitch, Morgan not far behind him.
Matt, being the last out of the car, sprinted as if his life depended on it (his wallet did!) and overtook Nick who screamed in annoyance, then tackled Morgan, who was celebrating her win, to the ground.
"Gosh, Matthew!" She gasped for air as her back came in contact with Matt Sturniolo's arm. He winced at the impact but shook it off.
"Sorry!"
She rolled her eyes, a grin still on her face freckled face. She gladly took Nicks arm and stood up, showing Matt her middle finger and letting him get up by himself.
Chris yanked on his brother's hair, making Matt flinch and grab the back of his head, shooting a "what-the-fuck-was-that-for?" look at him.
"You had a leaf in your hair," Chris innocently spoke, trying to hide his laughter as he held up the tiny leaf he pinched from Matt's hair.
The middle triplet rolled his eyes and nudged Nick. Nicolas knew exactly why Matt nudged him but decided to play dumb.
"OW! Why did you nudge me?" He purposely spoke in a loud tone.
Matt yanked him by his shirt to whisper in his ear. Nick smirked and continued to play dumb.
"Apologize to Morgan for what?"
Now that caught Morgan March's attention. She spun her head around and glanced suspiciously at the three boys who now stood in a line.
"Chris would love to start. Right, Chris?" Matthew asked, turning to the boy on his right. Chris rolled his eyes and looked Morgan in the eyes.
"Okay, sure," he began. "Morgan, we're really sorry for ghosting you. It was mainly Matt's fault!"
"What?!" Matt shrieked in offence, gaping at his brother.
"I can vouch for that," Nick raised his hand, once again Matt gaped in shock at how his brothers were dobbing him in.
"What do you mean? I know you ghosted me and shit but how was it mainly Matt's fault?"
"Matt, it's your turn to speak," Nick teased, messing up the boy's hair.
"It wasn't entirely my fault! We were just so busy with starting our YouTube career that we began to grow more distant."
Morgan did not buy his poor excuse. She appreciated him not telling the truth in case it may start a fight but she wasn't stupid enough to say "oh okay!" and get over it.
"Matthew, you started your YouTube channel five months after we became distant," she furrowed her eyebrows, glancing between Nick and Chris who were silently nodding.
"Oh."
Chris coughed to cover up his laugh which made Nick stomp on the ground and hold his mouth so he didn't laugh loudly. Morgan pursed her lips, ignoring the two so she could hear what Matt had to say.
"Fine, we started ghosting you because I had this idea in my head that you would make better friends and be better off without talking to us. Trust me it took forever to convince these two but after a while, we decided it would be best," he explained, speaking very fast and hoping Morgan wouldn't catch what he said. Though she did.
Now it was Morgan's turn to say, "Oh."
It was silent. Chris and Nick had let out their laughter and were waiting anxiously for the girl's reply. Morgan stared at her shoes, gathering her thoughts.
"You didn't think to tell me any of this? Wouldn't it have been easier if you told me too? I wouldn't be shutting myself out from everyone, thinking my bestest friends in the world hated me. Instead I would've tried to get over it sooner than I did."
Matt sighed, he knew she had a point. A very good point. Chris and Nick were impressed by her response, though they knew to keep quiet because she could get snappy fast.
"Fair point."
Morgan nodded, satisfied. She was glad he could at least admit she was right in some way.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you. Sixteen year old me was too stupid to think of that. Do you think you can forgive us?" He asked.
"Yeah please forgive us, Moe!"
Morgan thought for a moment, there was no way she could entirely forgive them for making her upset for a year but she was willing to get over it.
"Fine," she spoke, smiling as the boys burst out in celebration, engulfing her in a big group hug. "On one condition though," she added.
"Anything!"
"You drive me to and from the airport tomorrow to pick up my two friends," she grinned.
The three brothers huddled in together just for dramatic suspense before turning back to Morgan.
"My brothers and I have agreed to your condition, your Majesty" Chris spoke with a straight face.
"Excellent! Tell the guard on your far left he's paying for my Mcdonalds," Morgan replied, playing along with him.
"Nick, you're paying for everyone's food!" Chris yelled, punching Nick's arm and sprinting back towards the Minivan.
Nick yelped before chasing after Chris, leaving Matt and Morgan to walk back to the car in comfortable silence.
