EIGHT, three big babies
TONIGHT WAS supposed to be a quiet night for Morgan March but knowing her three best friends, no night would ever be a quiet one. Especially the ones when the triplets were sick.
Morgan had received a video call from Matt at eleven pm, the poor boy's nose was red and stuffy and his voice croaky. The three boys had explained to Morgan that the night before when they slept over at Nate's house, they jumped into the pool at three am.
Hence why they were sick. It was the middle of winter for crying out loud. Morgan had walked over to the Sturniolo household at midnight, she packed a small bag with a book, headphones and other things for herself if she was going to be there a while.
As the girl walked, a cold breeze hit her exposed shoulders. Morgan was in pajama pants and a tank top as she was being rushed by the triplets and had forgotten a hoodie.
She unlocked the door with the spare key and walked into the warm, toasty house with a sigh. She was aware that Marylou and Jim, the triplets' parents, had gone out for the night which left her as the trios 'babysitter'.
"Morgie!" Matt grinned like a child, before violently coughing. Morgan inhaled deeply and smiled at the boy. Christopher and Nicolas trudged through the hallway before stopping next to their brother to say hi.
"Hi, Moe."
Morgan smiled at the other two boys, taking in their lazy appearances. She sighed, placing her bag next to the kitchen island before slowly walking towards the three boys. She stretched out her arms to offer a hug.
As Nick went to hug Morgan, Matthew and Chris pulled him back. Worried that she would also get sick.
"Guys, it's okay," Morgan giggled at their protectiveness over her.
Nick smiled widely, embracing the shorter girl. Matt and Chris shared a look before joining in on the hug, feeling a little better than before already.
"Okay I want you all to go to your own rooms right now," Morgan softly ordered, cringing at how mother-like she sounded.
"Yes, ma'am!" All three boys saluted before marching in the directions of their own rooms.
As the trio left the kitchen, Morgan made three mugs of soup and toasted sandwiches for each boy. She also carried a cup of water and an Advil in case any of them needed one.
First, she went into Nick's room and handed him his food. She also ended up staying in there for twenty-odd minutes to watch an episode of Love Island with him.
Next was Chris's room. The only light source the boy was currently using was his LED lights, Morgan didn't mind but only engaged in a small conversation with him before leaving for Matt's room.
Matt's room was practically pitch black, which came as no surprise to Morgan because that's how it always was. She moved around in the dark until she found herself sitting next to the boy on his bed.
"Thank you," Matt gratefully smiled.
"It's no problem at all, Matty."
Morgan and Matt sat in a comfortable silence as the boy ate his food. After a while Matt felt his eyes get tired, it was a struggle to keep them open for the sake of talking to Morgan. The March girl seemed to notice and shifted into a more comfortable position.
"Go to sleep," she whispered sweetly.
Matt pouted but rested his head on her chest, Morgan began to play with his hair before the two drifted off.
———
When Matt awoke he felt a weight on his chest, he squinted his eyes in an attempt to see who, or what, was on his chest but only smiled softly as he saw Morgan's peaceful face.
The boy took this moment to take in her features, he adored the way her face had a perfect proportion of freckles, the way her pink-tinted lips were parted, the way her messy hair sat on her head, to Matthew, Morgan March was literally perfect.
"You're staring," the girl's voice caught him off guard. Matt chuckled awkwardly while pushing some of Morgan's hair behind her ear.
"You look cute when you're sleeping," he innocently replied.
Morgan bit back a smile and felt her cheeks turn a soft pink. The girl hid her face in Matt's pillow, grinning into it.
"You look cute all the time," she gave the boy a cheeky smile, resting her head on his shoulder. Matthew smiled bashfully, a small blush creeping onto his cheeks.
"Shut up," he whined, unable to accept her compliment.
Morgan giggled at how flustered the boy had become and hugged him. Something Morgan loved was giving people hugs, even if they don't give you them back, it may always brighten someone's day if you just harmlessly hug them.
Matt smiled down at the girl, wrapping his arms around her.
"I missed you, Moe," Matt broke the silence.
"I've been back a month now, Matt?"
"I know but I still feel shitty about what happened," he honestly told her.
Morgan frowned, looking at the boy's eyes that were avoiding her eyes. Morgan smiled softly at how truthful he was being right now.
"Matt, look at me," she quietly asked. He hesitantly met her eyes that were calm and kind, "it's all in the past now, none of it matters anymore. I get you feel bad but honestly, Matt, you have nothing to feel bad for. I love you and I'm over it, okay?"
"Okay," Matt smiled. The pair began to lean in without realization until the door was slammed open by none other than Chris and Nick Sturniolo.
The pair in the bed jumped back in fright, staring at Nick and Chris who were grinning widely. They obviously felt much better.
"Hello," Morgan rolled her eyes playfully. Chris hopped onto the bed, laying on top of his brother while Nick squished in next to Morgan and happily cuddled her.
"Thank you, Morg," Nick whispered to her. Morgan smiled over at the boy, leaning into him as if to say it was no problem. Chris repeated his older triplet brothers' words which earned him a blown kiss from the girl.
"Are all three of you feeling better?" She asked them.
Nick, Matt and Chris all nodded their heads with smiles on their faces. Morgan grinned, clapping her hands. Chris suspiciously stared at her, knowing there would be a catch to her question.
"Good because Matt breathed on me too much in his sleep," she joked, making the triplets laugh with her before she sneezed.
Nick jumped in fright but continued to hug her, only because she covered her mouth.
"Doctor Matt has activated!" Chris laughed loudly as Matthew got out of the bed, put on a hoodie and made his way to the kitchen.
"I love you, Benny!"
Matt heard the girl call out which only made him smile and shake his head. There was no way this boy wasn't slowly falling in love with her.
Ten minutes later the boy came back to his room with a mug of soup, just as Morgan had done for him and his brothers last night.
"Thank you!"
"Of course, darling."
Even though he had muttered the last word, Christopher caught onto it and snapped his head to his brother who widened his eyes and put a finger to his lips.
