열셋. Wish me luck!
Next day, bright sunny morning, students swiftly walking to their lockers, the blue sky great weather breeze, Sunoo admired the good start of the day whilst walking through the halls before turning left to the vending machine.
"Hmm, Orange juice? ew no, ah! Come here red bull baby!" Sunoo smiled whilst searching for his money in his pants' pocket, but the cash wasn't found.
"I must have left it in my locker.." Sunoo mumbled under his breath, gently banging his head on the machine.
"Hey ddeonu!" Sunoo heard Heeseung's voice from afar, his waving figure coming closer to his.
"Oh hey hyung, you want a soda?"
"Uh, sure!"
"Me too, give me money." Heeseung looked weirdly at the younger, the younger smiling widely with his hands out for the money.
"Fine, but you give me back 1000 won later." Sunoo nods his tiny head as the older gives him the money before he puts the bill in the slit before 2 cans of Red Bull came out of the compartment.
"Here's your beverage, Mister single." Sunoo giggles and hands Heeseung the other can of soda, happily opening the drink before taking a good sip.
"You don't have the right to call me that, You're single too." Heeseung says after his sip, pushing his finger on Sunoo's forehead before walking down the school campus together.
"Yeah, but you're older by 2 years and you still don't have a girlfriend." Sunoo teased, hearing his hyung sigh as he feels his arm swing over his shoulder.
"And you have a girlfriend?" Heeseung asked with a smirk on his face, making Sunoo smile.
"Nope. But I will." Sunoo proudly speaks, looking at his hyung with bright eyes.
"Who says?" Heeseung asks with a raised eyebrow.
"Fate."
"Fate?" Heeseung asks, with obvious confusion in his tone as Sunoo turns to his hyung.
"Mhm, Fate. I can hear the Gods of love calling for me, saying it's almost time for me to find my significant other!" Sunoo breaths proudly as if the angels of romance were right beside him.
Sunoo can't help but think about Runa, finding a girlfriend wouldn't be so hard now cause well, he has Haruna Atsuko!
"One day hyung, one day this year, I will be hit with a love arrow." Those were Sunoo's words to his Heeseung hyung before getting hit by a basketball on the left side of his waist and falling down, hearing Heeseung laugh with all his heart.
"Hit with a love arrow? More like hit with a ball!" Jay says before shaking hands with Heeseung, hearing a 'Good one, Jay' from the eldest.
"You both are horrible!" Sunoo hisses and stands up with his strength, wrapping Jay's neck in his arms to suffocate him.
"Yeah keep doing that Ddeonu, I'm sweaty, you know?" Jay chuckles, making Sunoo back up with disgust.
"Ew! You're disgusting, hyung! Do you even take a bath?"
"Chill, I was just practicing. We have a basketball competition tomorrow." Sunoo turns around and sees the gym in front of him, there sure were a lot of sweaty people on the court.
"Where's Niki?" Heeseung asks as Jay points to the figure shooting some hoops.
"Niki's part of the basketball team with you?" Sunoo asks Jay.
"Yeah, didn't Heeseung hyung say that on your first day when you and Niki first met each other?"
"Oh sorry, I don't listen to information of irrelevant people." Heeseung smacks the back of Sunoo's head, making him hiss even more.
"Yeah sure he's irrelevant, of course the one that fell on top of him at the haunted house and drove the bus with him says that." Jay teases, making Sunoo puff his mouth.
"He's still cold. But I guess he's okay sometimes.." Sunoo mumbles under his breath, his gaze averting to the younger's figure playing basketball.
Ring
The bell for when morning classes start rang, making Heeseung's senses alert.
"I have science. You?" Heeseung points to Sunoo, making the younger snap out of his gaze and thoughts.
"O-oh, me too."
"Mkay, you guys go to your classrooms. See ya on lunch!" Jay chuckles and finger guns them, going back to their coach to continue practicing.
The 2 started walking, the oldest demanding money from the younger but the younger was stubborn enough to run away, chasing each other on the hallways.
-
"That's all for today, you may be dismissed."
The professor bowed as the students thanked her as she walked out of the room. It was lunch time and Sunoo was very hungry. He heard that today's special was Seolleongtang which was one of his favorite meals and he can't wait to digest the delicious food.
"You coming, hyung?" Sunoo makes his way to Heeseung who was on the teacher's desk, he looks like he was counting papers. Ah right, Sunoo forgot for a second that he was the class president for science and physics.
"You go ahead Sunoo, I'll finish this first then I'll head to the cafeteria in 10 minutes."
Sunoo nodded and grabbed his bag from his seat, sliding the classroom door open to be shocked by someone's greeting.
"Hi Sunoo!" Runa's bright tone startled Sunoo, but Sunoo immediately smiled when she saw her right infront of him.
"W-what are you doing here?" Sunoo smiled, still surprised that Runa was beside him.
"I was gonna ask if we could eat lunch together!" Her warm smile after her sentences always softened Sunoo's heart, it made him happy.
"Of course! But, how'd you know where to find me though?"
"Went to the basketball court and asked Jay."
"You went all the way there to just ask me what period I have before lunch?"
"Mhm!"
Lies.
"Hm, Okay! Let's go eat lunch now!" Runa nods her head, walking beside the boy to the cafeteria.
Lies.
Runa didn't just go to the basketball court just to ask where he was. He also just wanted to stare at Niki. It made her smile that the boy that used to be jealous of other boys playing basketball with their friends, was now part of a basketball team himself.
Maybe Runa still likes Niki. But not in a friendly way.
In a romantic way.
But, of course she wasn't sure of her own feelings yet. Cause how embarrassing would that be if Niki found out that the girl that broke his heart likes him now, that he's all happy and living a better life?
-
Lunch break was over, meaning it was time for students to go back to their classes.
Sunoo had history next, meaning he has a class with Jungwon.
Jungwon always loved clinging to people, especially to his friends. Sunoo didn't bother getting hugged so much by the younger though, it makes school more fun!
Sunoo finished walking to his locker, and as he was about to get his materials for history class, a bubbly Runa jumped out of nowhere.
"Hi!"
Sunoo stumbled from her sudden appearance, smiling but feeling weird.
She seems extra clingy today, why does she suddenly appear out of nowhere? But not that he has any problem with it, he was just curious.
"Hey! Don't you have chemistry next?" Sunoo asks her, trying to get the stuff from his locker.
"Yeah!"
"So, why aren't you in class-"
"Let's skip school today!"
Sunoo looked weirdly at her, his hand movements stopped as soon as the female said her sentence.
"W-what? No Runa, we can't skip, that's a school viola-"
"Oh c'mon! Do you really wanna be stuck at such a boring history classroom with the teacher talking nonsense for one whole hour?!" Runa whined and jumped around, making Sunoo confused.
"W-well-"
"No right? So let's skip! C'mon, I already know where we're going!"
She planned ahead without knowing I would say yes or no?!
This girl sure was driving him nuts. But in a good way, his heart somehow fluttered when she's around, and he wanted to keep feeling that!
"I-I guess..? But if we get caught-"
"Don't worry, we won't." She winked at him and pulled him by his wrist, careful with her surroundings before dragging both of them out of campus.
Sunoo was worried for his and her reputation. They were both new students, it might affect their grades!
But that didn't occur out of Sunoo's mouth, because his heart was slightly pounding that he now has a whole day to spend with his crush.
-
"R-Runa.."
Sunoo panted and wore his backpack properly, seeing Runa admire the city view.
It was currently 8 pm, and Runa had just dragged him to a hill park near his neighborhood.
"Isn't it so pretty, Sunoo-ssi?" Sunoo heard her ask him, standing beside her whilst looking at the view.
"Hm, It really is."
Runa turned her head and expected Sunoo to be facing her, like you know, those cliche scenes that happen in movies where the protagonists go sight seeing and the female lead says how pretty the view is and the male lead replies with a yes, meaning the beautiful view was the girl.
But unfortunately, Sunoo really meant that the view was beautiful, he was clueless about those types of flirty moves. Runa didn't know why but she felt somewhat disappointed, but immediately hid her expression with a smile.
"It's getting pretty late." Sunoo says and turns to Runa, smiling at her.
"But, it's just 8:30 pm?" Runa replies, opening her phone to check the time, not forgetting to smile at her lock screen.
It was her and Niki when they were 10.
"Really?" Sunoo leaned forward and tried to check the time on Runa's phone, but she immediately shut it off, not wanting Sunoo to know that her lock screen was her and Niki.
"Y-yeah, it's still early!"
"But if I don't send you home right now, It'll be too late for you to arrive, and it's bad for girls to go walk late at night."
"It's okay Sunoo, you don't have to-"
"There's a cab!" Sunoo waved his hand at the vehicle as the cab stops in front of them.
"Get in." Sunoo smiles at Runa as she smiles back, getting inside the car as the window rolls down.
"Thanks for today, Runa. I had fun." Sunoo smiles at her, bending down his knees slightly to be on her level.
"N-no problem, I had fun too..Take care!" Sunoo nods as Runa tells the driver her adress, before waving at Sunoo as the car drives away.
Sunoo stands up straight and stretches his arms, it sure was a tiring day. He didn't mean to send Runa home so early though, he was just really concerned about her going home safely.
"I'm hungry, again.." Sunoo rubs his tummy, looking around to see his daily convenience store nearby, walking there whilst yawning.
-
Sunoo swiftly grabbed a bag of chips from the chips aisle of the convenience store, humming through the music the store was playing, specifically No rules by TOMORROW X TOGETHER.
"I just wanna dance, dance until we ca..n't?" Sunoo slowed his sentence down when his eyes averted to a sleeping figure on one of the chairs outside. The figure looked familiar, but Sunoo ignored it.
"Thank you!" Sunoo thanked the cashier lady from the convenience store and pushed the glass doors open.
Sunoo walked slowly and turned his head, to see a sleeping Niki with his head rested on his arm.
"Ah, forgot tomorrow is their basketball match. He seems worn out..." Sunoo mumbled to himself, putting his finger below Niki's nose to check if he was really sleeping.
"Should I wake him up or.."
"Go wake him up, he's been sleeping like that for an hour." An old man spoke put of concern, making Sunoo bow.
"A-ah.." Sunoo stuttered, sighing before crouching down in front of Niki's sleeping figure.
He looks decent sleeping, Sunoo blushed thinking to himself, how cute he thought.
EW WHAT?! KIM SUNOO WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!
"Ni.."
Sunoo was about to place his hand on Niki's head, but the younger's eyes started flickering open.
"Why are you here?" Niki asked, resulting to Sunoo immediately standing up, puffing his cheeks and looking the other way.
"To buy chips." Sunoo huffed, whilst Niki rubbed his eyes and had a clearer vision.
"Were you spying on me?" Niki teased, making Sunoo let out a scoff.
"Tch, as if. I'm sorry for waking you up, why don't you go pass out here and let some stranger carry you home, that would be nice." Sunoo replied back, leaving with the plastic bag of chips on his hand.
"Wait up!"
Niki grabbed his bag and chased after the older, walking beside him.
"Since when did you care for me?" Niki wiggled his eyebrows and nudged Sunoo's shoulder, frustrating the older.
"I don't care about you, and I never will." Sunoo huffed and turned his head away, making Niki laugh.
"It's okay if you like me Sunoo, I won't mind." Niki teased in a flirty tone, making Sunoo's ears red.
"You? Why would I like a dumbass?" Sunoo walked ahead, the younger was really really REALLY getting on his nerves.
"EH?! I'm not a dumbass!" Niki catched up on Sunoo, who turned around and took 2 steps up on a short stair.
"You passed out on the convenience store, that's something a dumbass would do. And I bet you didn't even know we have homework due tomorrow for math."
"Wait, we had homework?"
Sunoo face palmed himself, turning around to unlock his house doors.
"What are you still doing here? It's my house." Niki looked up and down, Sunoo's house sure did look huge.
"Hm, okay I'll leave. Wish me luck on tomorrow's game!" Niki waved his hand at Sunoo, walking away from his home.
"Yeah yeah whatever." Sunoo replied, puffing his cheeks. He was never this friendly to Niki. He hated Niki. But it didn't seem like he did right now.
"See ya tomorrow, Kim!" Niki giggled, before skipping his way out of Sunoo's neighborhood.
As Sunoo went inside his house, Niki looked back to see no more sight of the older.
Niki turned around and smiled at himself. Maybe there's a chance he can be really good friends with Sunoo.
Niki didn't know why he was being in a good mood, and being friendly with Sunoo just moments ago. He usually acts cold, maybe it's just how his mood changes when he feels like changing it.
With that thought inside his head, Niki stretched his arms, yawning while walking.
"Today's a good day."
