쉰여덟. Pursuing you.
"And take your vitamins, you never take them!"
"I will, I will!" His mother handed Sunoo's luggage, and Sunoo took it in his hand and planted a kiss on his mom's cheek.
The car door suddenly opened, revealing Kaito in sunglasses and rushing to help Sunoo with his bags.
"I'll take that. Good morning!" Kaito bowed and greeted Sunoo's mother, as she raised her eyebrows, seeing a handsome man come pick up her son had her overwhelmed.
"Is this your work friend?"
"Ah, mom, this is Kaito, he's the CEO of the company we're partnering with, Kaito, this is my mom."
"Pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Kim." Kaito shook hands with her to show manners as she was obviously flustered, making Sunoo roll his eyes.
"Well, you two have a lovely time~"
"It's not just the two of us-"
"Now go go, hurry! You'd wanna be there by eleven." Sunoo deeply sighed at his mother, heading to the car as Kaito put his bags on the trunk. Sunoo placed his phone on the stand, opening the map app and inputting the address Taki texted him.
Kaito on the other hand just stared at Sunoo doing his thing. He pinched himself ever since he woke up this morning, cannot believe that he was going on a trip with the one he liked. Although Taki would be there, it would still be great.
The engines started, Sunoo rolling down the windows to wave bye to his mom.
"You've never been far away from your mom?" Kaito asked whilst driving.
"I have, I studied in Korea for high school and she stayed here, in Japan." Sunoo smiled, bringing out a book that he had inside his backpack, bought not too long ago.
"You and your mom must be close."
"Without her, I don't know where I'd be. I grew up not having my father around much, but at least I had her." Kaito nodded, admiring Sunoo's warm words towards his mother.
"What are you reading?" Kaito never took Sunoo for someone who loves to read, but maybe he is.
"Oh, I bought this book last week. It's called Apocalyptic, it's about a zombie apocalypse, basically."
"Sheesh, why don't you wanna read like realistic stuff?"
"My life's already miserable enough."
-
With 100 pages that Sunoo flipped, 30 minutes of sleep, and another 30 minutes of going through social media, They finally reached their destination, and wow was Taki's house quite modern and big.
"The things I'd do to live at a place like this.." Sunoo mumbled getting out of the car and helping bring out his bags.
"I'll bring it-"
"No, I will-"
"Hey, guys!"
Sunoo and Kaito turned around to see Taki and Hana jogging to them. Sunoo's face dropped, gripping the fabric of his pants. He was fine with Hana being there but not him.
"What's he doing here?" Kaito asked, teeth clenching as he stared at the guy in sunglasses beside Taki.
Ni-ki.
"You didn't tell us he was gonna be here.." Sunoo mumbled, looking everywhere except Ni-ki's direction.
"Are you guys..fighting?" Taki gritted his teeth, feeling nervous. He didn't want any flame coming into the supposedly great trip he planned.
"I-It's fine, Taki." Sunoo smiled, patting Taki's shoulder, before glancing at Ni-ki and passing by with his luggage in his hand.
Taki and Hana followed behind Sunoo, helping him with the bag on top of the luggage as Kaito and Ni-ki looked at each other for what seemed to be two minutes.
"Don't ruin this trip."
"No promises."
-
"Here you go." Hana and Taki placed the bowls of food on the table, sitting down since almost everyone hasn't eaten lunch yet.
"Is that the ocean I hear?" Sunoo asked.
"Ah, yeah, the sea is like a ten-minute walk from here. You guys can go there if you'd like."
"You wanna go there later?" Kaito asked, nudging Sunoo's arm, as the younger nodded whilst smiling. Ni-ki who was in front of them sighed, crossing his arms. Was he going to have to sit through THAT the whole trip?
As the group ate, Ni-ki can't help but be bothered by how much Kaito was treating Sunoo as if they were together. Giving him his extra side dishes, like what is he, a baby?
"You guys can drink right?" Taki asked, making everyone turn their head to him and nod.
"Why?"
"Cause I want us to drink together, maybe add a little game later, I don't know. We're adults, it's fine."
Sunoo bit his lip, knowing that he doesn't have a good alcohol tolerance. But if it was with his friends, for sure it's fine since he's in good hands. Aside from one person though.
"Who'll wash the dishes?" Hana asked with a smile, making everyone back up.
(A/N: Lmao me kapag sinasabihan ako na maghugas ng plato HHAHHA)
"Me and Hana cooked, you guys do the dishes!" Taki complained, making everyone think. Isn't he the host..
"Show some manners." Taki huffed along with Hana, making Sunoo sigh and grab three plates.
"I'll do that one, you do the little ones." Kaito grabbed the big plates used for the main dishes from Sunoo's hands, receiving a smile from him.
Sunoo grabbed the small ones, only for Ni-ki to grip them.
"I'll do it." Ni-ki offered, making Sunoo look at him right in the eye with much blankness.
"No it's okay, I'll do it-"
"Just let me do it." Sunoo was caught off guard by Ni-ki's sudden serious voice, sighing and letting go of the plates as Ni-ki went off with it inside the rest house.
Ni-ki placed the plates on one of the two sinks, as Kaito looked at him with raised eyebrows. He didn't even bother to make conversation, knowing he doesn't have a place to talk since it's between Sunoo and Ni-ki.
Sunoo on the other hand, went to go unpack in one of the guestrooms, placing his luggage down and unlocking it.
"Coming in!" He heard Hana's faint voice outside, slowly opening the door with an awkward smile.
"Heyy, do you have toothpaste? I forgot mine." Sunoo nodded, bringing out his pouch with his toothbrush and lending the toothpaste to her.
"Ah, did you know Ni-ki was coming?" Sunoo asked, to which Hana replied with a head shake meaning 'no'.
So Taki didn't inform every one who was coming? That must mean Ni-ki didn't know he was coming too, maybe, he doesn't exactly know.
"Thanks, and uh, I hope things get better." Hana smiled, leaving the room as Sunoo wondered how she knew, maybe she heard.
He wanted this to be a good trip, with the people he wanted to spend it with but it won't be enjoyable if Ni-ki takes the chance to ruin it. Surprisingly he hasn't done much except show up.
"It's alright Sunoo, just enjoy the day." Sunoo checked his phone for the time, it was currently two in the afternoon, and he had a lot of time to enjoy the scenery in front of him, smiling to himself that he was finally able to take a 'break.'
He went down, going to the living room to look for Kaito, seeing him using his phone quietly, smiling softly, and tapping his shoulder.
"You wanna go to the beach already?"
"Sure."
Ni-ki mumbled, mimicking Kaito's reply as he watched them exit the rest house and make their way to the beach house as if they were a couple. How disgusting.
"Taki?"
"Yeah?" Taki replied as Ni-ki called out his name, sitting on the couch beside him.
"Do you know if Sunoo and Kaito like each other?"
"Oh, I..uh..I mean they sure do blush around each other? Why don't you go ask them?" Ni-ki turned his head to Taki, throwing a pillow at his face.
"Don't be stupid."
-
"I think it's gonna snow today." Sunoo placed his hands around his arms, rubbing it to warm himself up despite wearing two layers of clothing.
"The sea looks pretty though." Kaito commented on how the pastel color of the sky complimented the clear ocean, admiring the beautiful scenery in front of them.
Sunoo sat on the sand, letting out all the breath he had been holding in. He hasn't been to the beach in years and it felt so good to be able to do and see things he always wanted to do.
"My friend back in Korea has a beach house, the six of us would hang out there all the time every weekend ever since I was seven. This brings back a lot of good memories." Sunoo reminisced his time growing up, always visiting Jay's beach house when there were no school days, playing with his friends that he considered his brothers.
"Do you miss your friends?" Kaito asked as Sunoo didn't hesitate to nod.
"Of course I do. They're my family, they were with me in both my hardest and happiest times. That's why it was a bit hard to leave Korea, meaning I'd leave all of them. But maybe I'll get to see them in a few months once I've gathered enough money for me and my mom to go back to Korea." Sunoo smiled, reminding Kaito about the fact that he wants to leave.
"But..won't you miss your friends here too?" Kaito asked, making Sunoo think. He only had Emi, Kaito, and Taki anyways.
"Are you trying to get me to stay?"
"No, I..I mean- Life would be boring with you, I guess? I used to wake up in the morning with no energy and lazily go to work, and now I have a reason to happily look my best and-"
"Look your best?" Sunoo laughed.
"No! I mean..what I'm trying to say is that..I'll miss you." Kaito pouted, making Sunoo raise his eyebrows. He's never seen Kaito act so, cute and emotional? So that was a shock, but it was so nice to hear those words. That someone would miss his presence once he's gone.
"I'll..miss you too." Sunoo chuckled, trying his best not to blush at a good moment.
"I can't stay here forever, you know? I want to make the most out of my life." Sunoo tapped his shoes on the sand, giggling at the thought of finally having the life he dreamed of for years.
Kaito's knuckles turned into a fist behind him, deeply sighing.
"Well at least before you leave, can I tell you something?" Sunoo chuckled, turning his body to Kaito.
"It's not like I'm leaving today, but sure. What is it?" Sunoo asked. A snowflake caught his eye's attention and gasped from how pretty it was. He knew it would start snowing, winter was his favorite season.
"Can I court you?"
