Chapter 25: It's Not A Goodbye
After receiving a text from Brian, Gabriella arrived at the place where Brian and Roman were to pick them up.
Bea's brow furrowed in confusion, as she saw an ambulance and many police cars parked, quickly she exited the car along with Amaya.
Bea ran towards Brian, hugging him. "You're okay."
Brian looked down at her, smiling, returning the hug. "Yeah, I am."
Roman cleared his throat. "Uh, what about me Little B? Don't I get some love and attention?" Bea pulled away from Brian, rolling her eyes, turning to face Roman, walking towards him as she gave him a hug too. "Aw, now that's what I'm talking about, guess who's her favorite uncle now?"
Roman looked at Brian with a smug expression.
Brian waved him off. "Still me."
Gabriella shook her head as she approached Brian. "Are you good B?"
Brian looked at her. "Yeah, what about you? You look tired."
Gabriella shrugged her shoulders. "I am, I had a long night."
She looked at Amaya who stayed behind, further away from everyone.
Brian follows her gaze. "You brought Verone's niece?"
"Something happened last night," Gabriella told him. "Long story short, she's staying with Bea and me." Brian looked at her confused. "Don't ask."
Amaya saw her uncle, her brows furrowed as she noticed he was covered in blood and had a bandage on his shoulder.
She walked closer, standing beside Bea.
Roman laughs as watches Carter. "Don't drop the soap, big homey."
Carter smirked snugly.
"I hope to know when he gets out, he's going to kill your ass," Brian told him.
"He ain't getting out," Roman said.
Amaya catches Carter's intense gaze, grabbing Bea's hand as she feels nervous.
Bea gave her a reassuring nod. "It's okay."
Carter stood, looking straight at Amaya. "I'll see you soon."
The police escorted him to the car.
Roman's smile dropped. "You think he's going to get out?"
Amaya looked up at Roman. "I hope not."
"He'll be out," Brian said.
He walked away as Bea narrowed her eyes at him.
"No for real," Roman said. "You think he's getting out?"
Amaya looked down as she felt her uncle's intense gaze coming from the car.
Bea gave her a sympathetic look.
"Hey," Monica said. She walked towards Amaya. "Look, I just wanted to say how sorry I am for not being there to help you."
Amaya looked up at her. "It's okay, given the situation you and I were in, it was unlikely anyone would help us, or me for that matter." Amaya looked down again. "But I had a savior who helped me and for that, I am eternally grateful."
Amaya let go of Bea, and walked towards Monica, hugging her. "Take care, Monica."
Monica hugged her back. "I should be the one saying that, hopefully, you stay out of trouble."
Amaya pulled away, smiling, she glanced at Bea. "That's highly unlikely since I'm going to be around her and from what I can tell her, her life is gonna be rocky."
Monica smiled. "Well, she's gonna need someone by her side, and you too."
"Yeah," Amaya said. "Bye Monica."
"Bye," Monica said.
Amaya watched her walk away, turning to face Bea.
Bea looked at Gabriella. "Hey." Gabriella looked at her. "I think I made my decision."
"You've decided?" Gabriella asked.
Bea nods her head slowly. "Yeah, I'm going with you."
Gabriella smiled sadly. "You know he's gonna be hurt. Are you going to say goodbye?"
Bea shook her head. "It would be too painful to say goodbye."
"But it's more painful leaving without saying anything," Gabriella told her. "I would know, and I don't want history repeating itself."
Bea looked at Uncle as he was laughing with Roman, she shook her head, turning away, and Amaya and Gabriella followed.

Brian and Roman arrived at the boathouse, where Tej let them stay there temporarily.
Brian frowned as he saw no sign of Bea or Gabriella.
Roman looked around, seeing a letter with Brian's name on it.
Roman looked at Brian. "Yo, B." Brian turned to face him, and Roman held up the letter. "This is for you."
Brian took the letter, reading it.
Uncle Brian, I don't know what to say. Goodbyes suck and we both know I'm not the one to express my feelings very easily, and that is probably because of my mature personality and terrible past that you still know nothing about.
The point is goodbyes suck, and I think that the reason it sucks is because, how can you tell someone you love and care so much goodbye when you know you'll see them again, it may not be now, but it'll be someday.
I know I've been a pain in your ass for these two years, and I wasn't the levelheaded person you know, but let's be honest, I get it from my mom. And I know you two still have a lot to discuss why she left you, just know everything she was both doing is to keep you safe and out of danger, which is why I chose to go with the momma.
Because I don't want to see you or anyone close to me get hurt, including Roman. But don't tell him that. If I'm being honest, you were more like a father than an uncle to me, you treated me as if I was your daughter, and that made me happy a little bit because I never had a father figure until I met you.
So thank you for looking after me, and for putting up with me and my issues, you're the best uncle anyone could ask for. To clarify, this isn't a goodbye, it's an I'll see you again."
Brian lets out a sigh, feeling tears in his eyes, turning to Roman.
Roman looked at him, concerned. "What's wrong?"
Brian looked determined. "Come on, we gotta get to the airport."
Roman gave a confused look as Brian walked away, he followed after him.

Bea sat in her seat at the airport, with Amaya beside her as she was playing a game on her phone, Amaya looked around anxiously.
"What is wrong with you?" Bea asked.
Amaya looked at her. "Who? Me?" Bea nods her head, focusing on her game. "Nothing."
Bea rolled her eyes. "I'm not stupid, I can tell when something is bothering you, so spill it."
Amaya gave in. "This is the first time I'm ever traveling, so, of course, I'm nervous."
"I see," Bea said. "It's not something to get worked up about, trust I remember I was like you when I first went on a plane, and it's not all that out to be."
"Still, everything just feels weird," Amaya told her. "I mean, I'm actually leaving this hellhole and never ever returning here." Amaya looked at Bea curiously. "What about you?"
"What about me?" Bea asked.
"You're leaving your uncle," Amaya said. Bea went stiff at the mention of Brian. "Aren't you sad? Or upset to not even say goodbyes."
Bea stared at the phone, frowning. "Goodbyes suck, plus why say goodbye when I'm most likely going to see him again one day?"
Amaya shrugged her shoulders. "I guess you got a point."
Gabriella walked towards them, boarding pass in hand. "You guys ready? We will be boarding soon."
Amaya jumped from her seat. "I can't wait! I've never been on a plane before and or seen the clouds up close, or see how big a city looks from above."
Gabriella chuckles. "Trust me it's nothing special." She looked at Bea. "What about you? You are ready to leave."
Bea stood from her seat, putting her phone away. "Yep, I got tired of Miami. And I'm ready for someplace new."
"Boarding Flight 117 to London" the announcer spoke.
Gabriella sighed. "Looks like it's time to get a move on." She grabbed her duffle bag, looking at the girls. "Make sure you gather your things."
Bea grabbed her backpack while Amaya grabbed two suitcases and her backpack.
Bea looked at Amaya, as Gabriella handed them their boarding pass.
"Why did you pack so much?" Bea asked.
"I didn't pack much," Amaya told her. "I packed lightly."
Bea rolled her eyes. "Sure you did." Bea followed her mother to check in. "Let's go."
She waited in line, looking around in boredom.
"Bea! Gabriella!" She whipped her head around, seeing Brian running with Roman following close behind. "Bea!"
Gabriella turned around, seeing Brian and Roman, moving out of the line.
Bea moved out of the line. "Uncle Brian?"
Brian who was looking around frantically, turned around, smiling in relief to see Bea and Gabriella there.
He walked towards them, out of breath. "I made it in time."
"What are you doing here?" Gabriella asked.
"I wanted to see you guys," Brian told him.
Roman held up Bea's letter.
"He wanted to give you guys a proper goodbye," Roman told them.
"You're not mad are you?" Bea asked.
Brian looked at her confused. "Why would I be mad?"
"Because I chose momma over you," Bea told him.
"I'm not mad," Brian told her. "Am I sad? Yes, but I'm not mad." Brian kneeled down. "Look, I wanted to tell you that, though we had our ups and downs."
"Mainly downs," Bea told him. Brian chuckles. "But continue."
"Right, look, our time spent together, you were always a pain in my ass," Brian told her.
Bea rolled her eyes. "Thanks for the unneeded feedback."
Brian gave her a look. "But, over time I've come to realize how important you are to me, and in a way, you were like a daughter to me." Bea smiled. "And I'm glad that I got to spend time with you because a part of me realized that I also had my sister there with me." He looked up at Gabriella who smiled slightly, he stood. "Listen, Gabby, I'm sorry for taking you for granted, and not realizing what you had to sacrifice for me and how you've been watching over me for a long time, even if from afar, you still took care of me, and for that, I am eternally grateful to you."
Gabriella smiled. "Oh, B, all I wanted was for you to be happy and live your life the way you wanted to, I didn't want you getting dragged into my mess when I should be the one to fix it."
"I know," Brian told her. "And you're the best sister and brother you would be lucky to have."
The O'Conner family heard sniffles, turning their heads to see Roman who had tears in his eyes.
Amaya, who was beside him, looked up. "Are you crying?"
Roman wiped his tears and nose, and he scoffs. "No, just some dust happens to get into my eye, and I'm allergic."
Amaya nods her head, unconvinced. "Sure you are."
Bea walked towards Roman. "I'll see you soon Uncle Roman."
Roman gasped as he looked at Brian. "You hear that man?" Brian rolled his eyes. "She called me Uncle, see I told you."
"This is the last call for Flight 117 to London. I repeat the last call for Flight 117 to London." The announcer spoke.
Bea chuckles, turning to face Brian. "I guess this goodbye."
Brian shook his head. "It's never goodbye, you'll see me soon."
Bea smiled. "See you later, Uncle Brian."
Bea turned to walk to the boarding station with Amaya following close behind.
Gabriella turned to Brian. "Until next time brother."
Brian nods his head. "Until next time."
Gabriella walked away, seeing as Bea and Amaya boarded the plane, she handed her boarding pass to the lady in charge of check-in, taking it as she boards the plane.
