Chapter 24: The Rescue
Amaya groaned as she woke up, rubbing her eyes. She looked around in the dark room, and she felt the room spinning.
She stood from her bed, stumbling as she fell to the ground.
Groaning from the hard impact, she turned her head, squinting in the dark at her door, hearing footsteps.
She moved to stand, and she sat on her bed, looking for her phone, which was not where she left it.
She heard her door unlocked, Miles walked in hastily as he was breathing heavily, as his gun was in his hand.
He looked at Amaya in relief. "Good, you're still alive."
Amaya gave him a confused look. "Why wouldn't I be?" Miles peeked outside the door, making sure no one was out in the hallway. Amaya stood from her bed. "Miles, what's going on?"
"No time to explain," Miles told her. "Come here."
Amaya walks towards him. "What are you doing?"
"I'm helping you escape," Miles told her.
Amaya shook her head. "No, if I leave, Uncle Carter will come and find me. He always ends up finding me."
"You have a chance to leave," Miles told her. "Without being followed or hurt, you get to be free."
"You'll get in trouble," Amaya told him. "And besides, there's no escaping his men outside. There's a lot of them, you won't be able to handle them on your own."
Miles looked at her. "Who says I'm alone?" Amaya's brow raised, Miles grabbed her arm as he walked out of the room. "Come on, we don't have enough time, and they should be arriving soon."
"Who?" Amaya asked. "Who's coming?"
Miles looked back at her with reassurance. "Bea and her mother are coming to save you."
Amaya stared at him in shock.

Gabriella drove her car right into the gate, seeing one of Carter's security guards, running over him as she swerved her car, she backed up as another one of Carter's men came running, pulling on his gun as he started shooting the car.
Gabriella put her car in reverse, backing into the guard. She and Bea exchanged looks, smirking.
Many of Carter's men were caught off guard.
Gabriella put the car in park, Bea got out of the car, a gun in hand, and she wore a vest that contained two guns, daggers, and stun grenades.
The third guard ran up to Bea and aimed her gun, shooting him in the leg and then shooting him in the arm.
The fourth guard came up behind Bea, Gabriella got out of the car, kicking the guard against the behind as he stumbled forward, she grabbed his arm, slamming his head into her car a few times, throwing him to the ground.
Bea and Gabriella looked at each other, nodding as they went their separate ways.

Amaya and Miles ran down the stairs, one of Carter's men saw them as he was alerted by the commotion outside.
Miles pulled Amaya behind him, aiming his gun at the man, shooting him in the head.
Amaya gasped in shock as her hand went to her mouth as Miles led her away down the hall.
Another one of Carter's men came into view. Seeing the two, he pulled his gun, shooting Miles in his left shoulder.
Miles groaned from the pain, holding his shoulder. He dropped his gun as the man came running towards him, taking him to the ground.
Amaya moved out of the way, and she fell back to the ground.
The man punched Miles repeatedly in the face, Miles was having trouble fighting back, then pressed down his Miles wound, and Miles let out a scream in pain.
Miles glanced at Amaya. Seeing how scared she was, he looked up at the guy on top of him, having the strength to lift his hand and throw a punch in the man's face.
The man fell backward, and his hand accidentally slid over Miles' gun, which went towards Amaya.
Miles got on top of the guy, punching in the face repeatedly.
Amaya glanced at the gun, picking it up, noticing how heavy it felt in her hands. She looked at Miles and the man.
The man rolled Miles over and started punching him.
Amaya aimed the gun at the man's head. "Hey!"
The man looked at Amaya as she pulled the trigger, closing her eyes as the bullet went straight through his head.
Amaya opened her eyes as the man's body lay on top of Miles, who pushed the body aside.
Amaya dropped the gun in shock, looking back at Miles.
Miles turned to face her, standing up, holding his shoulder. He bent down, picked up his gun, and glanced at Amaya. "You did what you had to do."
Amaya looked down, her hands shaking, Miles gently led her down the hallway.

The fifth guard ran towards Gabriella. He tried to kick Gabriella, but she caught his leg, pulling him forward, Gabriella gave him one punch that knocked him out.
The sixth guard appeared behind Bea, picking her up in a bear hug. Bea struggled in his hold, looking down to her vest, grabbing one of her daggers. She stabbed the guard in the shoulder blade, screaming out in pain he dropped her. He pulled out a dagger, glaring down at Bea, who pulled out a pepper spray sprayed into his eyes. He screams as he stumbles back, Bea kicks him in his stomach as he flies back a few feet away from her.
The front door opened, and Bea turned her head to see Amaya helping and injuring Miles outside the house.
Due to her distraction, the seventh guard had his gun aimed at Bea, though she hesitated on shooting her as she was a kid.
Bea turned around, seeing the gun that was aimed at her, seeing the guard's hesitation, she slowly moved her hand up to her vest, taking one of the stun guns off her vest, she pulled the pin and threw it at him, turning around quickly, closing her eyes as a bright light flashed behind her.
Amaya turned her gaze towards Bea, smiling in relief to see her friend, though she pulled her gaze away as she heard grunting.
Turning in the other direction, she saw Gabriella.
The seventh guard had Gabriella pinned down as she struggled to get out of his hold.
Amaya turned towards Bea. "Bea." Bea looked at her as Amaya pointed in the direction of Gabriella. "Your mother."
Bea's eyes widened as she ran towards the guard that had her mother pinned down, she tackled him to the ground, and standing up, she went to her mother, helping her stand on her feet.
The guard behind her stood as Bea turned to face him. She roundhouse kicked him and fell back down, unconscious.
More guards started making their way, surrounding Gabriella, Bea, Amaya, and Miles.
Bea looked at Mother.
Gabriella looked down at Bea, nodding toward her.
Bea's hands went to her vest, taking up two stun grenades and handing one to her mother. "Ready?" Gabriella nods, and Bea turns to Amaya and Miles. "Close your eyes." They did as they were told, "On three, one, two, three." Both Bea and Gabriella pulled the pin off the grenades, throwing them toward the guards that surrounded them.
They closed their eyes as the bright light flashed, and they reopened them, taking the opportunity to make a run for it.
They ran to Gabriella's car, though Amaya and Miles were struggling as Amaya was helping walk Miles to the car.
Bea turned around, seeing Amaya struggling, running towards her to help bring Miles to the car.
Gabriella started the car, getting back out to see Bea and Amaya helping Miles.
Her eyes widened as she saw two of the guards standing as they aimed their guns at Bea, Amaya, and Miles. "No, no, no."
Miles glanced at Gabriella. Seeing her panicking, he turned his head slightly to see the guns that were aimed at him and the girls.
(Slow motion)
His eyes also widened, and turning his head back forward, he stopped walking, making Bea and Amaya stop, he pushed forward to the ground as the shots were fired, and he covered them, as bullets went through his body.
Amaya and Bea grunted from the impact of the ground, turning their heads as they watched as Miles' body went down.
Gabriella pulled out her, aiming as she shot the two guards that shot Miles, watching as their bodies went down.
Amaya gasped as she stared at his unmoving body, getting up as she ran towards him. "Miles! Miles, hey, stay with me." She had tears in her eyes. "Keep your eyes open, please."
Miles turned his head towards her. "You remind me so much of my kid, you know that?"
Bea stood and watched them sadly.
Amaya cried. "You knew, didn't you?" She received no response. "You knew this was gonna happen, and you took the risk of getting me out."
Miles smiled sadly. "You are free now. You can choose your own path and without the consequences." Amaya silently cried. "One day when you're older, you should meet my kids, I have a son and daughter. They're around your age, I think you would like them."
Amaya shook her head. "Don't leave me. Don't leave your family. They need you."
"I did my job," Miles told her. "Now it's time to do yours." He looked at Bea. "Take good care of her for me. She's something special, she'll change the world one day."
Bea nods her head as Miles takes his last breath.
Amaya cried harder as she held onto his body, Bea looked at her mom, unsure what to do.
Gabriella nods towards Amaya, giving Bea a look.
Bea walked towards Amaya, kneeling behind her and putting a hand on her shoulder. "I--I don't know what it feels like to lose someone so precious to you, but just know I'm here for you, always." Amaya looks back at Bea, who holds out her hand. "I know it's hard, but he wouldn't want you to keep crying. He would want you to move forward with your life."
Amaya accepts Bea's hand, and they both stand as Bea leads her to the car, getting in, Gabriella gets in as well, as she reverses and drives out of the gate.
