𝟎𝟏𝟑 A New Friend

Chapter 13: A New Friend

The next day, Brian was having trouble getting Bea out of her room, the girl refused to see her uncle after hearing such harsh words.

She didn't even care if he talked bad about her, but about her mother.

She felt her blood boil as she never wanted to hear anyone talk bad about the women who raised, and was trying to keep her safe.

Deep down Bea knew her uncle Brian wouldn't understand, no one would understand what she and her mother went through.

Running wasn't new for Bea, after all she and her mother had been running and hiding for a few years.

But Bea knew she couldn't keep running forever, as she believed her past will catch up to her one day and she won't be ready to face it.

But for now she would rather just enjoy her life, only her life isn't so enjoyable at the moment and she blamed her uncle Brian.

She couldn't understand why he would never take her side of things, or listen to what she had to say.

All Bea wanted was her mom, she was always good at calming her down, telling the things Bea needed to hear.

Especially since Gabriella told from her heart and not just with her thoughts like Brian had did.

Bea sighed as she let a few tears roll down her face, closing her eyes tightly.

Meanwhile, Brian sat on the couch, head in his hands.

Brian has thought he had it all figured out in his life, that is until Bea came in the picture.

Things changed for him, and at first he did know if it was for better or worse.

When he first met Bea, he found her to be a spitfire with no off button, and had the tendency to say whatever was on her mind, no shame at all.

Yep, she was definitely Gabriella's daughter, he couldn't deny that, the same resemblances, foul mouth, witty attitude and all other traits Gabriella had while growing up.

Brian knew no doubt that Bea would end up like her mother, or different if things ever change between them.

They both didn't know that they were lonely in the world, with no other family members to look after them or take care of them.

They were all alone in the world, yet they had each other, they just didn't know it, yet. But soon they will come to understand what their roles were in each other's lives.

Brian looked down at his watch, 12:30, he had to go see a friend, but didn't want to leave Bea all alone.

There was a knock on the door, Brian stood, walked towards it, opening it.

He had seen a little girl about Bea's height and a man who stood behind her, wearing a Navy Blue blazer with a black button-down shirt, and suit pants, the man looked very serious.

Brian looked at the two confused as the girl smiled brightly at him. "Um, hello?"

"Hi," The girl said. "I'm Amaya," Amaya looked at the man behind her. "And this is my overprotective butler Miles, he may look scary, but he's actually pretty cool."

Amaya looked past Brian as she looked inside the house, curiously.

"How can I help you?" Brian asked.

Amaya looked up at him eagerly, trying to calm herself. "Are you Bea's dad? Correct me if I'm wrong, but she does live here, right?"

Brian raised his eyebrows at her. "Are you a friend of Bea's?"

"Yea!" Amaya said. "I mean, no, at least not yet, is she here?" Amaya looked past Brian again, looking for Bea. "I brought her homework, I thought since she was suspended, she shouldn't have to miss the work we do in class."

Amaya smiled nervously up at Brian, who looked down at her amused.

"She's in her room," Brian said as moved to the side. "You can come in if you want."

Amaya walked in immediately. "Thanks." She looked around the house, she was very curious about what Bea's living conditions were like. "So, this is where she lives, not bad for an average house, I guess you're not making that much money, huh?"

"Amaya," Miles warned. "Have some manners, young lady."

Amaya looked down sheepishly. "Sorry, sometimes I have no filter. Meaning, I just keep saying whatever is on my mind and not realize how it may hurt others."

Brian chuckles. "It's okay." Brian looked towards Bea's room, sighing, walking towards it. Hesitating as he knocks on her door. "Hey, Bea, you have a guest." When he got no response, glances back at Amaya and Miles as they watch him. "She's a classmate of yours, her name is Amaya." Brian still got no response from his niece. Brian looked back at Maya, who frowned. "Why don't you go inside, she's a little upset with me."

Amaya wasted no time, walking past Brian to Bea's room, hesitating as she opened the door, and walked inside.

Bea, who still had her face buried in her pillow, didn't acknowledge Amaya's presence.

"Hey, Bea," Amaya said. "It's me, Amaya, your classmate, and the girl you saved from getting punched in the face." Bea looked up from the pillow, glancing at Amaya. "Glad to see you up, how are you?"

"Peachy," Bea told her. "What are you doing here?"

Amaya smiled nervously. "I came to give you your homework, I mean after yesterday's incident, I kinda figured you didn't get the lesson plan we had for some of our classes." Bea barely nods her head. "I also came to check in on you, I wanted to know if you were okay?"

"I'm fine," Bea told her.

Amaya sat down at the end of Bea's bed. "You don't seem fine to me. What's wrong?"

"It's none of your business," Bea told her. "Just leave me alone."

Amaya sat there in silence, looking at Bea concerned. "You know, my mom and dad used to tell me that it's easy to talk to strangers about your problems than your close friends and families."

Bea gave Amaya a look. "You're not a stranger, I have you in most of my classes."

"Well, we're not exactly friends either," Amaya retorts. "You don't have to tell me anything, I just thought you should know, I'm here if you ever need anyone to talk to." Amaya stood from the bed, walking towards the door. "I'll see you at school, whenever you come back."

Bea sighed. "He doesn't understand me."

Amaya looked back at her. "Who?"

"My uncle Brian," Bea told her. "He said some really hurtful things to me yesterday."

Maya walked back to the bed, taking a seat closer to Bea. "What happened?"

"A lot of things happened," Bea told her. "He basically admitted that he didn't want to take care of me, and how irresponsible my mom was." Bea looks down at her hands, tears in her eyes. "I hate it here. I hate everything that's happened to me, I hate my life, and I'm even starting to hate my own mom." Amaya gave her a sympathetic look as she tried to comfort Bea. "I don't want to hate her, but after everything uncle Brian told me, I realize he's right, she did abandon me, and now I'm all alone."

Amaya rubbed her shoulders. "You're not alone, you have your uncle."

"Who doesn't want me in his life," Bea told her. "And I don't want him in my life either, he's controlling and is always lecturing me."

"Well, that's his job," Amaya told her. "He may not be your father, or nowhere as close as your mother. But he's here for you and is doing his best to watch over you. He's struggling too, you think taking care of kids is that easy?"

"No," Bea answered. "But I didn't think he would be such a jerk to me."

Amaya smiled sadly. "All adults are jerks, especially the ones who don't understand us the most."

Bea looked at her curiously. "I take it you're going through the same thing?"

Amaya shrugged. "Kinda, my uncle's been too busy with his business to ever focus on me. And it gets lonely when you have no friends to hang out with."

"What about Emily?" Bea asked. "Aren't you two friends?"

"We're more like acquaintances," Amaya told her. "We rarely talk, and that's because my uncle doesn't want me hanging out with those who are in the lower class than me."

Bea tilted her head. "Lower class? Do you mean poor?"

"Yes," Amaya said. "He thinks that I should not associate myself with people who are lesser than us and I deserve better."

"Your uncle is a jerk," Bea told her. "And you are dumb."

Amaya furrowed her eyebrows. "Excuse me?"

"Look no offense, but you're both dumb," Bea told her. "There is nothing wrong with hanging out with those who are not rich as you or have as much money as you." Bea looks around her room. "I mean, look at me, I live in an average house and my uncle is barely getting buy."

"I guess you're right," Amaya said. "But arguing with him is annoying, and he never has time for me. It's lonely at home."

"What happened to your parents?" Bea asked.

Amaya looked down sadly. "They died in a car crash a few months after I was born, my uncle had been looking after me ever since."

Bea gave her a sympathetic look. " I'm sorry to hear that."

"So what about you?" Amaya asked. "What happened to your parents?"

Bea stayed silent, looking down, not sure what to say. She didn't know anything about her dad, except that he was a dangerous person that her mom wanted her away from.

But her mom on the other hand, was conflicted, between hearing what her uncle had said and what she thought, she didn't want to believe that she was abandoned by her own mother.

She knew her mom loved her very much, but was only keeping her safe. But Brian didn't know that, he didn't know the real reason why Gabriella had left him back then and why she left Bea now.

"I don't know anything about my dad," Bea said. "But my mom is out there, and she left me with my uncle Brian in hopes of keeping me safe."

Amaya tilts her head. "Safe from what?"

Bea looked up at her. "From bad people. That's all you need to know."

Amaya looked at her confused, wanting to know more, but didn't want to push Bea into talking about something that she wasn't comfortable with.

"I think it's time for me to take my leave," Amaya said. Bea looked at her, nodded her head slightly. "I'll bring some more work from school for you. Goodbye."

Bea watched as Amaya stood, ready to leave, though was hesitant. "You can stay if you want."

Amaya whipped her head back. "Really?"

Bea chuckles at the girl's excitement. "Yeah, maybe you could explain what I'm supposed to do with the homework."

Amaya nods her head, eagerly. "Yeah, of course. Just let me go tell Miles that I'm staying for a bit."

"Miles?" Bea questioned. "Who's that?"

"My butler," Amaya answered. "Bodyguard and personal driver."

Bea raised her eyebrows, intrigued as she stood from her bed. "Okay, I have got to see this."

Amaya chuckles as she follows Bea out of her room.

Bea stood outside of her room, as she watch her uncle and Miles talk, tilting her head as she observes Miles.

He looked to young to be a butler, but who was she to judge based on appearances.

Brian felt that he was being stared at, turned his head to see Bea, smiling in relief.

Bea looked at uncle who smiled at her, rolling her eyes as she lets out a sigh.

Amaya, noticing the tension between the two, cleared her throat. "Miles, I'm going to be staying here for a few hours, please tell my uncle we won't be back home until later."

Miles nods his head. "Of course Miss Verone."

Brian looked at Bea with raised eyebrows, walking towards her. "You made a friend?"

"She's not really a friend," Bea told him. "She's just here to help me with homework, so you can go and do whatever the hell you want."

Brian sighed. "Bea, we'll talk later, but have a good time with your classmate."

Bea tilts her head. "I don't think doing homework counts as a good time, but whatever and goodbye."

Bea turned as she walked towards the couch as Amaya brought the work she was supposed to do.

Brian watch the two as they converse, looking at Miles, nodding his head as he walks out of the house.
