˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚ ❀ ATTICUS-GREY AND ANIA-GRACE were working their shift at their local supermarket, currently restocking the shelves.
atticus was stocking the toilet paper down the aisle, whereas ania was stocking the cleaning products.
then, their boss came to them holding a phone to her ear.
"ania, atticus. phone for both of you." kelly, their boss, says whilst handing the phone to the 18-year-old boy.
atticus-grey puts the phone to his ear, ania listening too, hearing their mother on the other end.
"please go check up on your grandfather, your father and i are both stuck at work." their mother, susan, drones in an uninterested voice.
the younger girl rolls her eyes at her mother's lack of care for her father-in-law.
"okay mom, we'll go see if he's alright." the boy sighs.
-
the two teenagers got into ania's car, and started to drive to their grandfather's house.
"call grandpa, see if he's okay." ania commands quietly, not taking her eyes off of the road.
atticus pulls his phone out his pocket, quickly dialling his number. he puts it on loud speaker, and eddie answers right away.
"where's the key?" there was a panic that they could sense in his voice.
"grandpa? are you okay? have you taken your meds?"
"of course i have. now where is the key to my gun cabinet?"
"dad took it away from you grandpa, he didnt think it was safe."
"how am i supposed to fight them without a bloody gun?" the old man's english accent came through efficiently when he was frustrated.
"fight who? grandpa we'll be there in a few minutes." ania put her foot harder on the pedal, speeding a little down the road.
"no!" the old man exclaims. "do not come here, its not safe!"
atticus continued to reassure their grandfather that everything is okay, and that they'll be there soon.
however ania got a sinking feeling, like she knew something bad was going to happen. and ania was rarely wrong.
they even almost hit a guy while going down the street in which their grandpa lived at.
"was it me or was that guy creepy as hell? dude had white eyes."
all of a sudden, when they were entering the driveway, eddie hung up the phone.
atticus quickly got out of the car to bang on the door, and there was no answer, so he went around the back.
the boy enters the land at the back of his grandfather's house, which lead to the woods. he searches for edward.
after a few moments of scanning his eyes across the area, he sees eddie laying on the floor, and quickly runs over.
the state that eddie is in, is a sight that should never be seen by his grandchild.
his eyes were gone. completely out of his head.
"grandpa?" he shakes the man. "grandpa wake up!"
the boy gets out his phone again, this time dialling 911.
"911, what is your emergency?"
"Yeah, um my grandpa has literally no eyes-"
a hand sharply grasps his arm. he looks down, dropping the phone.
the person on the phone repeats the question, going unheard by atticus.
"atticus. they're coming." eddie gasps for breath. "go to the island. find the bird."
"she'll explain everything." then he goes limp.
atticus-grey felt a rather large shadow over him. he looked up, seeing an 9ft thing with no eye sockets, and a large mouth with tentacles for a tongue.
"ania!" he finally yells for his sister, to which she appears at the scene rather fast. "right there!"
the girl couldn't see anything, but blindly shot the gun that she found at the huge shadow-like thing.
it dropped to the ground with a very heavy thud, dead.
-
"how are you okay with this? grandpa is dead!" ania exclaims as her father was putting her grandfather's belongings in the bag with no emotion on his face.
steven turns to meet his daughter's furious face.
"sweetheart. it's time you realise that you and atticus were way closer to grandpa than i or you're uncle ever were."
"still doesn't mean you can't be affected by his death? you're literally getting rid of everything." atticus cuts in.
"he was a great grandfather to you guys, but he wasn't a great dad. he was never around. always off travelling, we thought he was cheating on mom at one point."
ania-grace shakes her head and scoffs, storming into another room, atticus following his sister.
it was so unlikely for gracie to be like that, as she was usually a very happy girl. so her father was very confused. did eddie's death really affect them that much?
-
"i just dont know why he seemed happy that hes gone?" ania cried softly to her older brother.
"i know ani, but its okay."
a knock on the door startled them both.
"come in." atticus mutters, and their father walked in. he was holding something. it looked like a present.
"i found something, it's addressed to the both of you."
ania snatched it out of steven's hand, opening it messily when he left. she was usually a polite girl, but her father was not in her good books right now.
it was a box. "the memory box." she utters, looking up at her brother.
she opens the box, and there were all the photos, along with a post card at the top.
atticus picks up the postcard. the photo displayed on said postcard was awfully familiar.
"the island." they say in unison, making eye contact.
"what does it say?" ania asks, to which atticus is confused by.
"what do you mea-"
"the back, idiot." she turns over the postcard, revealing a short, neat handwritten message.
Dear Eddie,
I haven't heard from you in awhile, so I pray that you receive this message, and are well.
This will be the last message for awhile, since the loop is going into hiding. It got her, Eddie, and I couldn't stop it.
Keep your children safe, talk soon.
Sincerely, Bria Willow Cerise.

"well, there's a possibility that she could still be alive," their therapist, ms. morrison says, handing atticus the post-card back.
ania didnt even know why it was her business anyway. she couldn't stand that woman one bit.
"exactly, we should go and see her. we should let her know grandpa died." atticus presses, looking at his parents.
"i've already said," their father sighs, rubbing his forehead frustratingly. "its too far-"
"it might be good for them. they might get closure that way." their therapist cuts in, to which ania raises an eyebrow.
she always knew ms. morrison had a weird aura, so the girl never told the woman anything of any importance, no matter how hard she pressed.
however, her brother did, so she never said anything. but she trusted her instincts.
"yeah, i dont think it's a good idea." their mom denies, shaking her head.
"dad could take us." ania speaks up. although she didnt like ms. morrison, she wanted to meet the peculiars more.
"yeah." atticus adds. "there should be more stamps you can get for your collection."
the older man contemplates for a moment, before looking to his wife, who raises an eyebrow.
"fine. let's go."
