ELLY-one week later
"Do you have everything?" Griffin asks, scanning over the hospital room. He gazes over my head and around me, then behind him.
"Yes," I reply.
"Let's go, then." Griffin wraps an arm gently over my shoulder and leads me out of the hospital room and down the hallway. A nurse nods to him, and he waves back.
"Do you know her?" I whisper.
"Elly, I've been here every day. I've met most of the nurses in this hallway by now," he responds, patting my shoulder before he lets go of me. He clicks the elevator button, and we wait until the doors open before getting on. We only have one floor to go down, and then we get off.
"Do we have to sign out?" I ask.
"I already did. The car is right out here." Griffin points as we exit through the sliding glass doors at the hospital's main entrance. The car that he is pointing to, which I assume is a rental, is parked in the front of the lot.
"What about the rest of tour? You said we would talk about it." I look up at Griffin, and he sighs.
"Elly..." he turns to me as he trails off. "You've already missed some of the stops."
"That wasn't my fault, though. I can still go to the rest of the meet and greets, right?" I look up at him, but he turns and starts walking again. "Griffin?" I follow after him.
"The managers asked me if you were going to be coming back, Elly."
"Griffin, don't tell me-"
"I said no," he cuts me off.
"What?" I stop beside the car. Griffin looks across the top of it at me.
"I said no, Elly. You aren't finishing the tour."
"But I only got to do one meet and greet!" I sigh.
"Elly, you have to understand. It's what I thought would be best for you," Griffin says.
"Why didn't you ask me?" I raise my voice.
"Elly, everything I've done these past three years has been for you! Everything!" Griffin yells.
"Why? Who asked you to?" I scream at him.
We stand there, breathing heavy after screaming at each other. I see Griffin take a step back from the vehicle, and I crumple to the ground with shaking sobs.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean it!" I whisper. Griffin walks around the vehicle and crouches down next to me, pulling me up against him as we both cry. We haven't fought since our parents died. Even before that, it was just petty arguments. "I didn't mean it," I whisper again.
"I know. Let's get you back to the hotel room and then get back home."
