thirty-three
ELLY
I pour myself another drink, not even sure how many I've had tonight. I don't really care at this point as I go back into the crowd with the people from school that I mostly don't know.
My phone buzzes. Elly, if you see this, please call me right away, Jaden says. I laugh. Why would Jaden be texting me? I don't reply and put my phone back in my pocket.
A few minutes later, as I'm sipping down my drink and dancing with someone, my phone buzzes again. Elly, Griffin is really worried. Please talk to me.
If he wants me to talk to him bad enough that he's lying and saying Griffin is worried, he must be desperate. He should've talked to me when we got back from tour.
"Let's go upstairs," the person I'm dancing with says to me, just loud enough for me to hear over the music. I nod and smile as we make our way upstairs. Why are we going upstairs? I think to myself, then giggle as he pulls me into a room.
"What are we doing up here?" I ask as he pulls me into a bedroom. He smiles and starts kissing me, but I push him away. "What are we doing up here?"
He says something inaudible and goes to kiss me again, knocking my phone out of my pocket and taking my keys with it. I try to push him away when I hear my phone buzzing with a call.
"Get off," I mumble, but he doesn't budge. After a few minutes of struggling against him, I get a bright idea.
"What the heck?" he screams when I knee him in the balls. Griffin would be very proud of me, I think, then hurry to grab my phone and keys before racing out of the room and down the stairs.
I look at my phone as I push through the crowd, seeing missed texts and calls from Griffin and Jaden. Griffin must've actually been worried about something if he messaged me this many times.
Eventually, I get out of the house and onto the front steps. I start down the sidewalk before realizing I don't have a way of getting home because my ride is still at the party.
However, by the time I realize this and turn to go back to the house, I'm already lost. I look around, but I don't recognize any of the houses, and nobody is around to ask for help.
"Hello?" I call out, wrapping my arms around myself when a breeze blows by me. Eventually, when nobody replies, I go to call Jaden or Griffin for help. But just by my luck, I drop my phone, and it breaks.
A/N: the next and final chapter should be out within the next week or so.
