CHAPTER THIRTEEN - PREPARE TO FAIL

I WAS SITTING IN CLASS as I was wearing a green shirt with a black leather jacket over it. "Okay. Quiet down everybody. I have the results of part one of your math test..." Mrs. Finch said as she began passing the tests back. Calvin got a B+ while Hayley got an A.

"See... studying hard... pays off. Especially for... Sarah, who got the only A+ in the class!" Mrs. Finch said. "Really? That's so cool. I got every single question right. I can't believe I studied so hard for this test, it was such a cinch!" Sarah said.

"You also weren't busy making the guest list for your wedding..." I thought, looking at my C+. "Well, part two of the test is tomorrow. And I highly recommend that everyone comes prepared." Mrs. Finch informed as the bell rang and we all left class. We were all walking on a path as Levi had his arm wrapped around me. "Okay, Hayley, Levi, how do you find the area of a right triangle?" Preston asked.

"Oh... you multiply the base by the height." Levi answered. "And then divide by two?" Hayley added. "Nailed it! Nice job—" Preston said as he high fived Levi. A girl rushed up to us. "Oh my gosh, Levi Weston! Can I have your autograph? Please?" She asked. "Um, sure you can. Yeah. I'll just be a second." Levi said.

"Oh, and when you're done, will you sign for my friends too?" The girl asked as a bunch of fans came over. "What the heck. Why not?" Levi replied. "Sorry guys... I'd better catch up." Levi asked. "Yeah. See you in, like, a million years." Calvin replied.

"Trent, are you staying?" Levi asked. I chuckled. "They're here for you. I'm just the fiancé. They have no interest in me. But I'll see you when you're done." I replied as I kissed him and followed the others. "Okay, your turn for a question, Sarah." Preston said. "Uh, hello? Earth to Sarah?" Brody said.

"Sorry guys. I am looking at show times. I'm pretty tempted to go watch a movie tonight... I'm thinking Train on the Run, Part 6." Sarah said. "Uh... but the math test is tomorrow. Aren't you gonna study?" Calvin asked. "Eh, the first part was so easy... I don't think I even need to study for the second part. Plus, I really wanna know how they stop that runaway train!" Sarah replied. "But Sarah..." Hayley started to say but got interrupted by a buzzing sound.

"Guys! A Buzz-Cam!" Preston exclaimed. We all dropped our backpacks down. "You better get over here, Levi. We've got trouble." Preston said. "Hello Rangers! Ready to face the most fearsome fighter of your lives?" Tynamon asked as we got into a fighting stance. "Who... you?" Brody questioned. "He looks like one of my grandma's lawn ornaments." Sarah added as Calvin and I laughed. "Ouch that's cold." I commented. "Not me! Introducing, the one and only, Brax!" Tynamon said as Brax appeared.

"Prepare for total annihilation!" Brax said. We got out our morphers. "Ninja Spin!" We shouted as we morphed. Brody then attacked him. "No! Ow, that hurt!" Brax said. "What?" Brody questioned. "Seriously?" Hayley asked. "Um, is that all you got?" Brody asked.

"Ahhhh! He's too strong! Basherbots, protect me!" Brax said. "Don't worry, my handsome darling!" Badonna said as all of us began fighting the Basherbots. All of them ended up leaving. "Wow, we really scared them off." Preston said. "Yeah, I guess." Hayley agreed.

"Hey, you okay Brody?" Sarah asked. "I'm just surprised." Brody replied. "No kidding." I agreed. "Hey team! Where's the trouble? What happened?" Levi asked as the rest of us demorphed. "What'd I miss?" He asked.

"Well, as a matter of fact, you didn't miss anything." Sarah replied. "That was the easiest fight... ever." Brody added. We were all at the base. "You defeated him in a single hit? That does not compute. No Galaxy Warriors monster has been defeated that fast. " Redbot said.

"It doesn't make any sense." Levi agreed. "Well, maybe they've just run out of good fighters?" Calvin suggested. "Odius running out of good fighters? I don't know, it doesn't sound like her." I stated. "What a great day, huh? The easiest fight, the easiest test..." Sarah said.

"Oh, shoot! Guys, we still need to study for tomorrow's math test." Preston said. "Yeah. We want to be ready." Hayley said. "Whoa. You saw how easy the first test was, the second part is gonna be a breeze. I'm going to the movies. Who's coming? Anyone?" Sarah asked.

"Guess you're on your own. We'll see you later." Brody replied as we all left. We were all in class as the tests were out. "Okay class, you have one hour to complete part two of your math test. No eating and no talking. Huh? Beans?" Mrs. Finch questioned. I looked at the test. I actually studied this time. "Ah, Mrs. Finch?" Sarah said.

"Yes, Sarah?" Mrs. Finch replied. "I ah — I think you gave me the wrong test." Sarah informed. "Uh... Nope, that's the right one." Mrs. Finch told her. "Okay, class. You can begin." Mrs. Finch said. I began working on the test. That's when Monty suddenly farted loudly.

"Oh. Was that me? Sorry..." Monty said. Victor then farted loudly. "Come on." Calvin said. "That's ripe." Brody added as the farting continued. I covered my nose with my shirt. "Hey we can't help it. Hey teach, we can't work in this air. Maybe we should postpone the test?" Victor suggested. "Yes! Yes, that's a good idea." Sarah agreed. "Nice try, but I'm onto your tricks... I saw you ate beans again. That's why I brought gas masks!" Mrs. Finch said as she pulled out two of the masks. Victor continued to fart.

"Quickly, take a gas mask everyone. Take one, pass it on and keep doing your tests." Mrs. Finch said as I grabbed a mask and put it on. She reached Victor and Monty. "Oh, shucks... no more masks left. I do understand if you guys want to leave... But you'll both get F's." Mrs. Finch said as both Victor and Monty sat back down.

Victor and Monty ended up breaking the door as they left the room. Finally, the test was done as everyone returned their gas masks. "Well that was brutal. I'm lucky to have a B." Brody said. "You said it, Brody. I'm happy with a B as well." I stated.

"I got a B+. I'm good with that." Hayley added. "Sarah, you okay?" Brody asked. "Yesterday's test was so simple... but today's test was so much harder." Sarah replied. "I don't think it was that hard." Levi said. "I agree. And that's coming from me who's really horrible at math." I added.

"I got an F!" Sarah informed, showing her paper. Calvin gasped. "It was not fair for Mrs. Finch to make today's test so much harder than yesterday's." Sarah said as Mrs. Finch came up from behind her. "Excuse me..." Mrs. Finch said as Sarah turned around.

"Now did I say today's test was going to be easy?" Mrs. Finch asked. "No." Sarah replied. "No, Sarah. Some tests are tougher than others, just like the challenges that we face in life. Today's test was tough. So I suggest that next time... you come prepared." Mrs. Finch said as she walked off. That's when our Ninja Comms went off.

"What's up Mick?" Brody asked. "Brax is back." Mick replied. "Really? Some monsters just don't learn. Let's go." Brody said. We all appeared at the location Brax was at morphed. "Give it up Brax. You said it yourself, you're no match for us." Brody said.

"Come on, we don't have to fight. Just — just give me your Power Stars... Pretty please?" Brax asked. "I guess you're gonna have to learn this lesson the hard way." Sarah said. "I'm outta here." Brax said as we chased him. That's when he stopped and we began fighting him.

Brax laughed. We were all confused on how he became strong. "Fools!" Brax said as he attacked us. "Whoa, how'd he get so powerful?" Preston asked. "Not as powerful as our team!" Sarah replied. "Let's attack him together!" Levi exclaimed.

We tried to attack him but he fired our attack right back at us. We were all on the ground as Brax laughed. "Who's laughing now, Rangers?" He asked. "This guy's no wimp, he's crazy strong!" Preston exclaimed. "Don't worry, you won't survive another hit!" Brax said.

"He's right. We gotta get out of here!" Hayley said. Sarah called her Zoom Zord as we disappeared. We all entered the base. "Sarah! Brody! Are you okay?" Mick asked. "I thought you said Brax was a weakling?" Redbot added. "He suddenly got a lot tougher. We're lucky to escape." Brody replied. "Yeah, that monster went from nil to nasty in a day!" Calvin agreed.

"How is that possible?" Levi questioned. "Wait a minute." Sarah said. "What is it, Sarah?" Levi asked. "Maybe Brax didn't get stronger at all. Maybe he was just pretending to be weak." Sarah replied. "And it worked. We all slacked off, thinking it would be easy." Preston said.

"Just like I did in Math class. This is exactly what Mrs. Finch said — "Some tests are tougher than others, just like the challenges we face in life."" Sarah said. "Great... Does Mrs. Finch have a way to beat Brax? Because, right now, we can't even leave our hideout unless we want to get our butts kicked." Calvin informed.

"Mrs. Finch said to come prepared... With preparation we can beat Brax." Sarah said. "You're ready to complete your Superstar Blade." Mick said. "Exactly." Sarah told him. "So, Brody, what should we do?" Preston asked. "We need to figure out a way to wear Brax down." Brody replied. "Yeah. When we see Brax again, we'll have a plan." Hayley agreed.

We all had our swords out. "Seven... Eight." Brody said as we all grunted. "Okay guys, that's enough." Brody said. We all joined Sarah, Mick, and Redbot. "That means it's going to work with all of our Ninja Stars." Sarah was saying.

"That's so much cooler than I imagined." Calvin said. "What's so special about it?" Hayley asked. "Well, it's stronger, and..." Sarah replied. "Just watch guys." Mick said. "And— it aligns my energies, so I can do this!" Sarah said as she locked in the star.

"So you made a more powerful sword that works with the Lion Fire Armor star too!" Brody said. "Brax is in for a real surprise." Levi said. "All this prep is about to pay off big time." Preston added as he fist bumped Sarah. "Then let's go!" Sarah said. We were at a location when Brax appeared.

"You gutless Rangers finally showed your faces... just in time for me to grind them into dust!" Brax said as he laughed. "They'll be no escaping for you Rangers this time." He said. "Sorry, Brax. Third time definitely won't be a charm for you! It's Morphin' Time! Power Stars!" Brody said. "Lock in! Ready! Ninja Spin!" We shouted as we morphed.

"Power Rangers, Super Ninja Steel!" We shouted. We began fighting Brax. Sarah, Preston, Calvin, and Hayley used Whiplash while Brody, Levi, and I joined together.

"Red Ninja Strike! Steel Slash!" Brody shouted. "Green Ninja Strike! Steel Slash!" I added. "Storm Star! Tornado Slashes!" Levi added. "Final Attack!" Brody, Levi, and I shouted. "Is that all you've got?" Brax questioned. "Not even close!" Sarah replied.

"Bring it on!" Brax exclaimed. "Hyper Arrow Blast!" Sarah and Hayley shouted. "Hyper Blade Slash!" Calvin, Preston, and I shouted. "Hyper Claw Shred!" Brody shouted. "Final Attack!" We yelled. "Nice try. But I can do this all day." Brax said. "Ha! He's worn out. Looks like it's time for the next part of the plan!" Brody said.

"Great, let's see how strong our new Superstar Blade is! Lion Fire, Ninja Spin!" Sarah shouted. She attacked Brax with pink fire. Brax fell to the ground. "What?" Brax said. "Let's finish him off!" Sarah said. "Superstar Slash!" Sarah shouted.

"Final Attack!" We all shouted as we destroyed him. That's when Brax grew big. Brody, Calvin and Preston got into the Ninja Steel Megazord while Levi, Sarah, Hayley, and I got into the Ninja Blaze Megazord. "The gloves are off, Rangers!" Brax said. "You said it, Brax!" Brody said. We began fighting Brax. We continued fighting Brax until four Skullgators appeared.

"Look at all my Skullgators! Can you take on all four?" Brax asked. "Four?" Sarah questioned. "We have to fight all four of them?" Levi asked. "And Brax too!" I added. Brax laughed. "Your fate is sealed! I'll enjoy watching your destruction from the ship!" Brax said.

"Brax thinks we're done for, but it's not over yet!" Hayley said. "Then let's take down these Skullgators!" Preston said. We began fighting the Skullgators. "Ninja Steel Megazord, Master Slash!" Brody, Preston, and Calvin said. They continued attacking the Skullgators.

We were all back at school after the Skullgators were defeated. Sarah went to go talk to Mrs. Finch. Mrs. Finch ended up letting Sarah take the test again. Monty ended up farting as they destroyed Mrs. Finch's door again.

"Noooooo!" Both Victor and Monty said.
