CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE - GREETINGS

"ALL RIGHT, I GOT A good feeling about this match!" Kobayashi announced as they were in the building.

"Really, Kobayashi-san? They're going against Ushijima." Uyeda stated.

"No, they are definitely goners." Kobayashi said as he cried out anime tears.

"You have so much faith in them..." Uyeda muttered with a dead pan expression.

Takashi glanced over as he saw a very familiar person looking around with caution. He sweat dropped as he walked over to him, with Nagata, Kobayashi, and Uyeda following.

"Teru, that disguise is shit." Takashi commented, making his friend yelp.

"Gah, Takashi!"

"What do you mean 'gah?'"

"Funny, Kichiro said the same thing, actually." Akiteru sighed out.

Takashi raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Kichiro?" He questioned, not recognizing the name.

"He's someone I met recently. He just moved to Miyagi." Akiteru explained. "I wanted him to come to Kei's match with me, but he had some uh... business back in Tokyo to take care of. So he might come later. Or not, depending on how long it takes."

"Ah, you should have him be your plus one at my wedding. I would love to meet this guy." Takashi said.

"I don't think you'll have the same reaction when you find out he's a delinquent." Akiteru thinks to himself.

"Anyways, I thought you weren't going to show up." Takashi continued, snapping Akiteru out of his thoughts.

"Kei didn't want me to come to the match." Akiteru explained.

"Well, that explains the disguise." Uyeda muttered.

Takashi just sighed before bidding Akiteru farewell as the four of them entered the seating area where the other spectators were. Kobayashi, Uyeda, and Nagata sweat dropped when they saw the state Karasuno was in.

"Their lack of confidence doesn't help my nerves." Kobayashi stated as he nervously chuckled.

The sound of drums banging caught the attention of the Karasuno alumni and the players on the court.

"Shiratorizawa!"

"All right, here we go!"

"Our opponent today... is Karasuno High School!"

"Nice to meet you!"

"I expect nothing less from a powerhouse school." Nagata commented.

"Yeah." Uyeda agreed.

"Wow..." Sugawara muttered.

"Yeah, they definitely feel like a powerhouse school." Asahi commented.

"Come to think of it, the other team hasn't shown up yet." Tanaka pointed out.

"Yeah, they're late." Asahi agreed.

"Damn it. They must be taking their sweet time." Tanaka said.

"Maybe it's their dignity as champions, or something." Asahi guessed.

"Are they underestimating us?" Nishinoya questioned.

The sound of footsteps were heard, getting the attention of Hinata. "They're here!" Hinata announced as the doors opened. Takashi saw Ushijima walk out with his team behind him, causing the Shiratorizawa cheer squad to go wild.

Takashi watched as Ushijima had spiked down the ball Shirabu had tossed as it went into the audience in which Izumi caught it.

"D-Did that guy seriously spike the ball all the way up here?" Uyeda asked, shaking a little.

"Yeah. He's quite the ace." Takashi hummed. "I know Karasuno has Asahi, but I can't help but be a little worried."

Hinata and Tobio could only watch as Shiratorizawa was warming up. "Ushiwaka's amazing... I'm excited!" He exclaimed.

"Yeah." Tobio agreed.

TWEEEET!

It was finally time for Karasuno to warm up next. "Hey, you two. Do that thing you did yesterday!" Tanaka told them.

Takashi could only watch as Tobio tossed the ball up for Hinata as he slammed it down, shocking the audience.

TWEEEET!

"Their starting lineup is just as we thought." Ukai began. "Did you memorize their characteristics?"

"Yes!"

"We're not going to let Ushijima decide how this goes! If they score, switch gears and get the ball back! That's all you need to do!" Ukai informed. "They aren't machines over there. They'll mess up sometimes. You know what you need to do, right?"

"Yes!"

"All right, everyone. This is the finals. Since we got this far, let's win and go to nationals!" Takeda exclaimed.

"Yeah!"

TWEEEET!

Both teams had lined up. "We will now begin the Japanese National High School Volleyball Tournament, Miyagi Prefecture Qualifiers, Boys' Finals. Miyagi Prefectural Karasuno High School versus Shiratorizawa Academy." The woman on the intercom announced. Daichi and Ushijima shook hands with one another.

"We will now introduce the Karasuno High School starting lineup." The woman on the intercom continued.

"#1, Sawamura Daichi."

Daichi gave high fives to Kiyoko, Ukai, and Takeda as he stepped onto the court.

"#3, Azumane Asahi."

"#5, Tanaka Ryunosuke."

"#9, Kageyama Tobio."

Tobio headed onto the court with confidence. His surname catching the attention of Shiratorizawa's cheering squad.

"Kageyama?"

"As in the pro setter, Kageyama? There's no way he can be related to that guy, right?"

"Perhaps they just have the same surname."

"#10, Hinata Shoyo."

Hinata was next to head onto the court.

"#11, Tsukishima Kei."

"#4, Libero, Nishinoya Yuu."

Nishinoya cheered as he jumped up in excitement.

"Coach, Takeda Ittetsu."

Takeda frantically bowed when his name was called.

"Next, we will introduce the Shiratorizawa starting lineup."

"#1, Ushijima Wakatoshi."

Takashi saw Ushijima coming out and giving a high five to Saito, Miura, and Washijo. As expected, the audience went wild.

"#4, Ohira Leon."

"#5, Tendou Satori."

"Yay!" Tendou announced, throwing up peace signs.

"#8, Goshiki Tsutomu."

"#10, Shirabu Kenjiro."

"#12, Kawanishi Taichi."

"#14, Libero, Yamagata Hayato."

"Yeah!" Yamagata exclaimed.

"Coach, Washijo Tanji."

"Ladies and gentlemen, please cheer on both teams and wish them the best."

The audience then began clapping. "I'm starting to feel their nerves." Kobayashi mumbled.

"Our guys are facing their first finals, and their first center court." Nagata stated. "I don't blame them for being nervous."

"This is their first five set match, as well." Takashi informed.

"Oh! You're right!" Kobayashi exclaimed.

Takashi looked over at Karasuno as he scanned them with his eyes. "I'm worried about their stamina for it. Their numbers seem fine now, but that can change." He continued. "Not to mention, Shiratorizawa has ridiculously high stats, but that's expected."

"They'll be fine... they'll be fine." Uyeda muttered, sweating with nerves.

Kobayashi looked over at him. "How are you possibly more nervous than them?" He questioned.

"Shut up, Kobayashi-san! Who said I was nervous?!"

"Bring it!"

"Daichi-san, nice serve!" Tanaka encouraged the captain.

TWEEEET!

The crowd cheered as Daichi served the ball in which Goshiki immediately received it. "Ushijima-san!" Shirabu called out

Takashi narrowed his eyes. "They're starting off with him." He thought as Ushijima began running forward.

Tobio, Tsukishima, and Asahi jump up to block just as Ushijima jumped up to spike. He spiked the ball as Nishinoya tried to receive it, however it was out, making Shiratorizawa get the first point.

"Nice kill, Ushijima!"

"Ushijima! Ushijima!"

"Don't mind!" Yamaguchi shouted.

"Next, next!" Sugawara added on.

Nishinoya turned back around and faced Shiratorizawa, smirking as he did so. "Well hello, Left." He said.

A/N: The first chapter of season three is finished! Which crossover do you think my Tsukishima Akiteru fanfic will be? I'm quite curious since I gave some clues. (Though, people might only get it if they've watched the anime).
