CHAPTER ONE - THE EMPEROR

Beep! Beep! Beep!

TAKASHI'S ALARM WENT OFF AT 7am as he groaned and quickly turned it off so it wouldn't wake up his partner. "Kashi, why are you up so early?" His boyfriend, Udai Tenma asked.

"Volleyball practice... Remind me why I decided to do it professionally?" Takashi replied as he groaned once more, sitting up from the bed.

"Because you wanted to be someone that your brother looks up too?" Tenma guessed.

"Yeah but... Volleyball isn't the same without you to spike my tosses." Takashi admitted. "Miura is a great ace and all. But he's not you."

Tenma smiled as he kissed Takashi. "Oh, I almost forgot. I'm going to Karasuno today. Keishin wanted me to help train the current volleyball team." Takashi said.

"Weren't you just at Date Tech last week?" Tenma questioned.

"Yeah. But Keishin told me that Karasuno is going against Nekoma at the end of Golden Week, and he wants me to help train them for it." Takashi explained.

"Sometimes I hate how you're a famous volleyball player. All these high schools want you to train them." Tenma said.

Takashi chuckled, getting up from the bed as he put on a black shirt, black shorts, and his white tennis shoes. "I'm excited to meet Karasuno's current volleyball team though. All I know is that Tobio is their new setter." He said.

"Taking after his brother, huh?" Tenma said. Takashi rolled his eyes playfully as he placed extra clothes in his volleyball bag and put on his Japan National Volleyball Team jacket.

"Bye Ten. I'll see you later." Takashi said, using his nickname that he gave him when they were in high school as he kissed him goodbye.

Takashi finally arrived at the gym where his team played. "Takashi! You're finally here." A male with messy black hair and gray eyes greeted.

This man was known as Matsuda Ren. Despite him being 177 cm, he was a great libero on Japan's National Team. He also graduated from Nekoma. Which is why some of their teammates were shocked when him and Takashi became friends.

"Good morning, Ren." Takashi yawned.

"Did you hear about Karasuno's practice match against Nekoma?" Matsuda asked.

"Yeah. Keishin wanted me to stop by their practice so I could train the current volleyball team." Takashi replied.

"Guess we'll be rivals then." Matsuda said as Takashi raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Nekomata wanted me to come watch the practice match between them and give a few pointers to the current team. I'm assuming you're going too?"

"I most likely will. I want to watch Tobio. I never went to watch his junior high matches because I was busy during those times. I think Tobio hates me because of it." Takashi responded.

"He's your younger brother. He could never hate you. I think he understands that you're busy being a professional volleyball player. You'd do anything for him." Matsuda reminded him.

"If you say so... I still think he still has a grudge on me because I taught Oikawa how to set and not him." Takashi said.

"Oikawa... Isn't he that third-year at Aoba Johsai?" Matsuda questioned.

Takashi nodded. "He actually invited me to Aoba Johsai's practice match against Karasuno. But we had practice so I couldn't attend." He replied.

"Yama-chan!"

"Oh god... Please kill me now." Takashi muttered as Matsuda chuckled. The red headed ace ran towards his captain as Takashi moved out of the way, letting the ace meet the floor.

"You're annoying, Miura." Takashi mumbled.

"That's cruel, Yama-chan!" Miura fake cried, getting up from the floor. "Anyways, Captain. What are you doing after practice?"

"Not like it's any of your business. But if you must know, I'm visiting my old high school to train the current volleyball team for their upcoming practice match." Takashi answered.

"And Miura?"

"Yes, Captain?"

"I'll remind you for the millionth time, I have a boyfriend. So stop trying to ask me out." Takashi stated as he walked away. Matsuda laughed loudly as Miura scowled.

"Stop laughing, Matsu-chan!"

Takashi placed his phone back in his bag after texting Tenma. He stood in front of his old high school, Karasuno High, still wearing his volleyball jacket."Damn, it's been so long since I've been here." He thinks to himself as he headed towards the gym.

"I invited someone to help you with your training. Actually, he should've been here earlier." Takashi heard Ukai say.

Takashi entered the gym doors, getting everyone's attention. "Sorry I'm late, Keishin." He apologized, dropping his volleyball bag down.

"It's no problem, Takashi. Thank you for taking your time out of your schedule to train these boys. I know you're busy." Ukai said.

"Nii-san?!" Tobio exclaimed when he saw the sight of his older brother.

"Oh, it's nice to see you again, Tobio." Takashi waved.

"Huh? Kageyama has a brother?!" An orange haired male shouted.

"Everyone, this is Kageyama Takashi. Captain and setter of Japan's National Volleyball Team. As well as an alumnus of Karasuno." Ukai introduced him. "Please introduce yourselves."

"Sawamura Daichi, captain and third-year!"

"Sugawara Koushi, vice captain and third-year!"

"Azumane Asahi, third-year!"

"Nishinoya Yuu, second-year!"

"Tanaka Ryunosuke, second-year!"

"Ennoshita Chikara, second-year!"

"Kinoshita Hisashi, second-year!"

"Narita Kazuhito, second-year!"

"Y-Yamaguchi Tadashi, first-year!"

"Tsukishima Kei, first-year..."

"I'm Hinata Shoyo, first-year! My goal is to become a player like the Little Giant!"

"Huh, who knew Tenma had a fan..." Takashi thinks to himself. Tobio didn't have to introduce himself since he was Takashi's brother.

"As I said, Takashi will be helping you train. But first..." Ukai started to say. "Take off your shirts!"

"What?!"

Tobio was the only one who took off his shirt as everyone stared at him. "I'm really sorry, everyone. It'll be quick." Takashi apologized.

Every one of the members lined up as Takashi went down the line. He started with Nishinoya as his eyes scanned him, looking at his numbers. "Hmm... Nishinoya, are you a libero?"

"Y-Yes, senpai!" Nishinoya replied.

"Thought so. Your numbers are really high at your arms and your legs. I only see that with liberos. As my best friend is the libero on my team." Takashi said. "Keep it up."

He continued moving down the line. Giving advice to the members such as more stretching or training. "Wahh! He's so cool! How does he know what advice to give them?" Hinata asked.

"Nii-san has a Scan ability. He can see a body's capabilities and flaws just by looking at it. It's why so many high school volleyball teams want him to train them." Tobio explained.

Takashi finally stopped at his younger brother as he scanned him. "Tobio, I heard you had a reunion with Tōru. How is he?" He questioned.

"Still annoying as ever..." Tobio replied. "Tch, asshole. Don't even ask me how I'm doing. You just ask about your precious student, because obviously you care more about him then your own flesh and blood."

He thought back to the time where he asked his brother to teach him to set, and immediately got denied. But when Oikawa asked, he quickly accepted.

"Nii-san! Teach me how to set like you!" A 11 year old Tobio begged his older brother.

"For the last time, I'm not teaching you! Leave it alone, Tobio!"

"Taka-chan! Can you spare some time to teach me how to set?" A second-year Oikawa questioned while Takashi was visiting Kitagawa Daiichi with his brother.

"Sure, Oikawa. I can teach you." Takashi replied, not noticing how heartbroken his brother looked.

"Eh? You know the Grand King?" Hinata questioned.

"Of course I know Tōru. Who do you think taught him how to set?" Takashi responded as a lightning bolt struck Hinata.

"W-Wait... If Kageyama is known as King of the Court, and Oikawa is known as the Grand King. Then that means..." Hinata started to say. "You're the Emperor!"

"The Emperor, huh? Haven't heard that nickname in years." Takashi said. "Good work, Tobio. Keep working."

Finally, Takashi scanned Hinata. "His numbers... They're similar to how Tenma's were." He thought. "Your numbers... They're exactly the same as Little Giant's were." He said.

"You knew the Little Giant?" Hinata exclaimed.

"Mmm, yeah. I played volleyball with him. I was his setter, and now I'm his boyfriend." Takashi replied, shocking everyone on the team, except for Tobio.

"Kageyama! You never told me your older brother is dating the Little Giant! That means you met him before me!" Hinata shouted angrily.

"I knew Nii-san was dating him, and the only times I met him was back when I was younger, idiot!" Tobio shouted back.

"How is he doing in volleyball?" Hinata questioned.

Takashi looked at him. "I can't tell him that his inspiration isn't doing volleyball anymore... It's better if Tenma tells him." He thought.

"It's better if you ask what he's doing when you meet him." Takashi replied. "I can tell you're straining yourself. Don't overwork." He added. Hinata just nodded respectfully. In his eyes, anyone who played with his inspiration had his respect.

The volleyball team was practicing as Takashi was walking around, pointing out their mistakes and trying to get them to do better. "Takashi, there's something I need to show you." Ukai informed as he raised an eyebrow but followed the older male anyway.

Inside the locker room, there were boxes. Ukai opened them up and there stood the Karasuno uniforms. Ukai took out one specific number.

Number 9...

Takashi's jersey number when he played for Karasuno.

Ukai passed the jersey over to him as the black haired male held it. "I figured you wanted to hold your old jersey before we dispute them to the team tomorrow." He explained.

"Have you decided who to give my old number too?" Takashi asked.

"I was thinking your brother." Ukai replied.

"Yeah... I think I would like Tobio to wear my old jersey. It seems right for him to wear it." Takashi stated as Ukai nodded in reply.

Takashi clenched his old jersey tighter in his hands.

"How could one simple jersey hold so many memories?"
