~ Making rules ~
"Rules?" Yoongi asked, his eyebrows almost knotted together.
"Yeah, let's write a contract," Bella said, grabbing a piece of paper and skipping over to the small dining table in the kitchen. She picked up the pen that was on the table and pointed at the seat opposite for Yoongi to sit at.
He stared at her as she wrote 'THE CONTRACT' on top of the page.
"The contract. Rule number one: lock the door if you're in the bathroom. I don't fancy seeing your cock and balls thank you-" Bella grimaced before being cut off by Yoongi.
"Why not? People would pay to see these bad boys and I'm offering them to you for free. Think of it as a roommate privilege," Yoongi smirked.
"Yoongi please..." she trailed off, already done with her roommate.
"Alright, alright. Carry on," he gestured.
"Rule number two: we split chores. So if I cook one night it means you're doing the dishes and vice versa. Except laundry. We do our own laundry so I don't have to touch your mouldy socks," Bella continued.
"Ouch. my socks are not mouldy," Yoongi held his hand to his heart, feigning pain.
"Rule number three: no falling in love. In fact, just, no feelings at all." Bella finished, ignoring her roommate's previous comment.
"Wait, what? Why would you write that?" Yoongi asked.
"Why? Are you planning on falling in love with me?" Bella teased.
"No but, I thought that was obvious. Why do you need to write that?" He elaborated.
"Well, if you must know, it's more for me. I need to get into the Olympics and having feelings for someone would only come as a distraction and I can't afford that. But because it's in the contract, you must obey it too." Bella rambled, pointing at Yoongi with warning. He held his hands up in defence.
"Okay, okay. I get it. I won't do anything to make you fall for me. But don't blame me if you do anyway, I'm quite charming," he said with pride, raising his shoulders in a smug shrug.
Bella scoffed and chose not to reply.
"Why are you so desperate to go to the Olympics anyway?" Yoongi asked after a minute or so to break the silence.
"That's a story for another time, Mr Min. It's been a long day and I'm very tired so if you'll excuse me..." She got up to go to her room but Yoongi caught her arm as she was passing him.
"You haven't eaten anything," he said in a scolding tone. Bella sighed and sat back down. Yoongi stood up and went to the cupboard next to the sink in the kitchen.
"What flavour?" Yoongi asked, his back still facing her as he rummaged through the cupboard.
"For what?" Bella replied.
"Noodles. I'd order takeaway but I'm too hungry to wait that long."
"Oh okay. I like chicken the most."
Yoongi pulled two packets of chicken ramen out of the cupboard before going into another to get a frying pan.
"What are you doing? You're not supposed to fry noodles," Bella scoffed out a laugh, readying herself to get up and overtake the dinner situation but Yoongi shakes the pan at her in place of his finger.
"I know that and I'm not going to fry them. I'm doing noodles á la Yoongi." After silencing Bella with his words, Yoongi went to the fridge and pulled out some chicken and an onion. He diced both before throwing them into the pan along with a little oil.
Once the chicken was cooked through and the onions had begun to caramelise, he poured in boiled water from the kettle and added the noodles, using a chopstick to break up the instant noodles and mix in the flavouring packet.
Bella watched in awe of Yoongi's cooking skills. Her father, the only male figure she'd ever really had in her life until now, was never a good cook. This imprinted the stereotype that men couldn't cook on Bella's mind, which only made the sight of Yoongi moving around the kitchen like he belonged there all the more surprising.
After cooking the dish, Yoongi parted the noodle, chicken and onion mix in the pan and filled the gap with grated cheese, leaving it on the heat until the cheese had melted. He then placed a wooden cross in the centre of the table and balanced the hot pan on it, handing Bella a pair of chopsticks in the process.
She just stared at the utensils, making Yoongi laugh. "You don't know how to use chopsticks?" He asked. Bella shook her head.
"My parents never allowed me to eat things like this, or anything with carbs for that matter," she confessed.
"Well then, I hope you enjoy. Let me teach you how to use them. It's really easy, I promise," he replied.
Bella nodded and allowed Yoongi to grab her hand and position it how it should be with the chopsticks between her thumb and ring finger, her index finger resting on top of the first chopstick and her middle finger between the two to allow for movement. He then showed her how to move them by lifting her middle finger, which separated the top stick from the bottom one.
She got the hang of it quickly and went to pick up her first taste of 'noodles á la Yoongi'.
"Okay so, you want to make sure you get a bit of everything so go near the cheese and kind of scoop with the chopsticks before lifting them up," he demonstrated, putting the food into his mouth after and attempting to smile with his lips pouted.
Bella laughed and copied him, but before she could put the noodles in her mouth, Yoongi placed a piece of chicken on top of her chopsticks with his own, smiling fondly at her. She quietly thanked him and proceeded.
"Oh my God," she said, eyes wide and mouth full of food. "This is amazing!"
Yoongi laughed loudly, the sound coming out like a squeak. "Thank you," he said, his mouth also full of food, making Bella laugh as well.
When they finished eating, Bella felt more and more tired as she watched Yoongi finish up the last of the dish.
"I'm going to sleep," she announced, standing up and stretching her arms. She was about to walk away when Yoongi's voice stopped her.
"Oh no you don't. The contract says if one of us cooks, the other cleans. And since I cooked, you're cleaning." He finished his statement by throwing a dish cloth at her and walking to the couch.
Bella flipped him off behind his back before doing the washing up.
