𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲, 𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿

𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗡 were sat on the ground in the main camp. Rick and everyone else still hadn't returned a silent worry had set in on the group.

"That was a shit move" Hallie pointed out as she moved her stone with the letter X carved onto it, into the middle box.

They pair had decided to play X's and O's to try and relieve their boredom but it only lead to frustration. Roman was annoyed that he kept losing and Hallie was frustrated that she had "no real competition".

Roman placed his rock beside his previous one, only needing one more to get his first win. Smirking Hallie put hers into the empty area left on the top row. The look on Romans face causing her
To laugh gently.

"This is SO not fun" Roman huffed kicking the ground where they were playing, ruining the game. he understood that he was acting like a child but he didn't care.

"Your worse than Carl, dude" Hallie teased lightly, laughing at his slight tantrum.

"Shut up" he mumbled, a red tint on his cheeks.

"It's not my fault you fucking suck at a kids game" Hallie laughed, slightly looking around her surroundings to make sure no one could her the foul words that seemed to constantly leave her mouth.

"Okay, shut your worm trap" Roman halted yet the words that he spoke caused Hallie to fall into hysterics.

"What do you mean by worm trap" Hallie gasped as she held her ribs, an ache residing in them from her laughter.

"My maw' used to say it after-" Roman paused an embarrassed look present on his face. "After she caught me eating... worms. I was seven by the way"

Hallie stopped laughing. A face of pure disgust took over her features. "You— that's, that's disgusting" she spoke flatly. "Daryl Dixon 2.0, here" she mumbled.

Roman glared at her playfully regretting telling her that he used to eat worms. But he was dumb, and she would never let him live it down.

Dale had informed the group that Jim; a member of their group had been out in the sun digging holes all day. The group made their way up to him, sweat was causing Hallie's hair to be tied up in a loose bun.
Romans hair was stuck to his forbear slightly, his curls slightly more defined.

"Hey Jim. Jim, why don't you hold up all right?" Shane said, as he walked closer to Jim.

"What do you all want?" The man asked loudly, Carol and Lori holding onto their children tightly.

"We're all just a little concerned, that's all" Shane explained.

"Dale said you've been out here for hours" Morales added.

"So?"

"So why are you digging? Are you headed to china jim?" Shane questioned, his patience becoming ware.

"If he'd been' digging for china he would've started closer to the sea level, not a hill" Hallie butted in, a snicker arouse from Roman but a quick glare from Shane shut him up.

"What does it matter. I'm not hurting nobody" Jim bit back at Shane.

"Yeah, except maybe yourself. It's a hundred degrees out today. You can't keep this up" Shane warned the man.

"Sure I can. Watch me" the man challenged.

"Jim, they're not gonna say it so I will. You're scaring people. You're scaring my son and Carol's daughter" Lori spoke up, the strong tone in her voice was enough to make a grown man sit down and behave like a child.

"They got nothing to be scared of. I mean, what the hell, people? I'm out here by myself. Why don't you all just go and leave me the hell alone?" Jim angrily spoke, his patience diminishing.

"We think that you need to take a break, okay? Why don't you go and get yourself in the shade? Some food maybe. I'll tell you what... maybe in a little bit I'll come out here and help you myself. Jim, just tell me what it's about. Why don't you just go ahead and give me that shovel?" Shane said as he held his hand out towards the man.

"Or what?"

"There is no or what. I'm asking you. I'm coming to you and I'm asking you, please. I don't want to have to take it from you" Shane warned once again.

"And if I don't, then what? Then you're gonna beat my face in like Ed Peletier, aren't you? Y'all seen his face, huh? What's left of it. See, now that's what happens when someone crosses you" Jim asked, he didn't like the way he was being spoken to, how he was being treated.

"That was different, Jim" Shane explained.

"You weren't there. Ed was out of control. He was hurting his wife" Amy explained, she had barely left Andrea side since she arrived back.

"That is their marriage. That is not his. He is not judge and jury. Who voted you king boss, huh?" Jim argued loudly.

"Jim, I'm not here to argue with you, all right? Just give me the shovel, okay?" Shane spoke calmly

"No, no, no"

"Just give me the... Jim!" Shane said,Jim shoving Shane away and then threatening to hit him with it. Sighing deeply Shane tackled Jim to the ground.

"Okay, shh shh" Shane comforts.

"You got no right!"

"Jim, just stop it. Hey hey hey hey"

"Don't!"

"Jim. Jim, nobody's gonna hurt you. You hear me? Shh. Jim, nobody is gonna hurt you, okay?"

Roman leaned into whisper something in Hallies ear quietly "poor son of a bitch. Dudes gone mad"

"You got that right" she agreed, sympathy in her tone for the man who obviously hadn't been grieving properly.

"That's a lie. That's the biggest lie there is. I told that to my wife and my two boys. I said it 100 times. It didn't matter. They came out of nowhere. There were dozens of 'em. Just pulled 'em right out of my hands. You know, the only reason I got away was 'cause the dead were too busy eating my family" Jim cried as he leant against a tree in the shade.

"Man, don't get me wrong; I'm grateful — but damn this fish is burnt" Roman said quietly to Hallie, he still hadn't managed to widen his circle of acquaintances past Hallie and the Grimes family.

"Yeah, I think my dad cooked it" she laughed quietly, picking at the fish that she had been given.

"I've got to ask you, man. It's been driving me crazy" Morales asked Dale, as he watched the man checking his watch.

"What?"

"That watch"

"What's wrong with my watch?" Dale questioned.

"I see you every day, the same time, winding that thing like a village priest saying mass" Morales insisted.

"I've wondered this myself" jacqui added.

"I'm missing the point" Dale said, confusion written on his face.

"Unless I've misread the signs, the world seems to have come to an end. At least hit a speed bump for a good long while" Jacqui explained their meaning.

Morales: But there's you every day winding that stupid watch.

Sighing deeply Dale began to speak "Time... it's important to keep track, isn't it? The days at least. Don't you think, Andrea? Back me up here. I like... I like what, um, a father said to son when he gave him a watch that had been handed down through generations." Pausing he continued

"He said, "I give you the mausoleum of all hope and desire, which will fit your individual needs no better than it did mine or my father's before me; I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you may forget it for a moment now and then and not spend all of your breath trying to conquer it." ....." he finished

"You are so weird" Amy joked lightly.

"It's not me. It's Faulkner. William Faulkner. Maybe my bad paraphrasing" Dale defended lightly.

Standing up Amy headed towards the RV. "Hey where are you going?" Andrea questioned.

"I have to pee. Jeez, you try being discreet around here..." Amy spoke awkwardly walking into the RV, her response making the group break out in quiet laughter.

After a few minutes Amy walked out of the RV, "hey we're out of toilet paper" she informed before letting out an ear piercing scream. A walked had bit onto her arm.

They quickly littered the camp, the group scattering. Abby had quickly grabbed the bat, slamming it down onto a walkers head. After a few blows the walker dropped, it's reanimated corpse finally falling still.
She swung her arm, causing the next walker to fall onto the ground.

Hallie had lost her father almost immediately, but could hear his calls for her. A Walker had been making its way towards her, causing the girl to quickly walk backwards—stumbling over a corpse.

Tears brimmed the sixteen year olds eyes as she watched the corpse growl trying to reach her as she crawled backwards. A gunshot rang out, the walker dropping as Shane had run over to the girl pulling her off the ground—handing her a hand gun. "Do not hesitate" he instructed.

Lori, Carl, Carol, Sophia and Roman were stood behind Shane as he calle spit orders to head to the RV.

More shots fired as Rick and the group entered the camp site, shooting down any walkers in sight. When they made it to the RV Andrea was leant over a dying Amy, sobs and murmurs could be heard from the distraught woman.

"We're in a fucking show or something... this isn't supposed to happen" Hallie spoke out, a single tear rolling down her face.

Shane immediately brought his daughter into a hug, kissing her forehead. "I love you" he mumbled against her hair. "I love you too" Hallie spoke as she clung to her father.

Abby and Roman look each other in the eyes. They were alone.
