Prologue

━━━━━━━༺ - ༻━━━━━━━

Loud painful cries rang out through the Red Keep, it was nearing nightfall when the Sky suddenly turned dark, and loud winds started to blow around. The waves of Blackwater Bay began to grow loud as mighty waves started to form.

Inside, a chamber of the west of the Red Keep; Princess Rhaenyra heir of the Iron Throne was bringing forth the newest Targaryen into the world, Harwin Strong her bodyguard| lover was standing by her side holding her hand as she let out a piercing scream, another wave of contraction washed over her causing her uterus muscles to loosen in an attempt to push out the child within.

" AAAH! Fuck this hurts!" Rhaenrya cried out.

Ser Harwin held onto his Princess tightly, pressing kisses into her hair whispering endless promises of love. " My Love, it's alright everything will be fine, you must push."

Rhaenrya snapped her head towards her. " Shut up, you cunt... don't tell me what to do."

" I see the head." Lady Elissa Massey cried out, as she was helping Midwife Elaine deliver the Princess's child.

Rhaenrya gripped onto one of her lover's hands pushing with all of her might, her face contorted with pain until she felt the baby emerging out of her body.

Silence washed over the room, there was no loud cry, only quietness. Midwife Elaine took the small infant in her arms. Rhaenyra lifted her gaze up to Midwife Elaine," What's wrong, why isn't my son crying?" She asked , in a panic tone.

Midwife Elaine turned to the Princess. " The Princess is fine, just unusually quiet than most newborns."

" A daughter, my daughter . Rhaenrya's eyes began to tear up, tears streamed down her cheeks.

Midwife Elaine and Lady Massey began to clean the baby up and wrapped it in a Targaryen cloak. She held her breath waiting for her child to make any noise or movement, but nothing came out of her infant's mouth. "She should be crying."

" I'm sure she is fine, my love." Harwin whispered, pressing a kiss to her forehead. " I'll go check on her."

Harwin walked over towards the two attendants and gazed down at the young Princess, expecting to find brown hair and brown eyes like him. Only to find dark skin, silver hair and violet eyes staring back at his reflection. " This baby was Laenor through and through."

" Harwin, is she alright?" Rhaenrya asked.

" Yes, she's fine." He answered, taking the baby from Midwife Elaine's arms walking towards Rhaenrya, his eyes never leaving the infant.

" Give her to me." Rhaenrya said.

He handed her the young Princess in her arms carefully, Rhaenrya gently held her daughter in her arms, gazing down at her deeply; a gasp escaped her mouth as she noticed the coloring of the baby skin, it was brown the small babe had the shiniest silver gold curly hair and light lilac blue eyes features like that only belonged to the Vealyrons.

This child was not Harwin rather Laenor's child, Rhaenrya felt a chill rise within her knowing well aware people would begin to question her son's Jacaerys's parentage even more.

Midwife Elaine and Lady Massey left the room leaving the two alone with the young Princess. " She's beautiful." Harwin said, gazing down at the baby softly. " You've done amazing job, my Love."

Rhaenyra said nothing, instead continuing to gaze down at her daughter. " She is not ours, Harwin." She mumbled. " She's Laenor, she's a Velaryon not a Targaryen like Jacaerys."

She started to stroke her daughter's silver locks, but was met with a loud wail from the young infant. Stunned, Rhaenrya removed her hand.

" Yes, but she is your daughter and I'll protect her no matter who fathered her." He answered.

Rhaenrya never imagined in her wildest dreams for her and Laenor to sire a child together, within the three years of marriage not once had Laenor visited her bed chambers until one night he had stumbled drunk in bed chambers wishing to perform his duty to her.

It wasn't good, but it was more than enough to get her with child. Now, as she stared at her daughter she hated how she was Laenor's child. The presence of her newborn daughter threatened her, as it raised questions of Jacaerys parentage.

She felt a sense of uncertainty and anxiety unsure how this would affect her claim to the Iron Throne. If people learned the truth of her son's parentage he and Harwin would be put to the sword.

" Have you decided on a name for this little one, my love?" Harwin asked, cutting her from her thoughts.

Rhaenrya shook her head. " I don't know, maybe I'll call her" She was about to say, but was interrupted when the doors to her chambers opened with a bang, Laenor and little Jacaerys popped into the room.

" I heard we have a newborn son." Laenor said, with a smile walking toward his wife. .

" It's a girl." Rhaenrya said, in a dull tone.

Laenor's eyes widened in surprise, happy tears streaming from his face . " We have a daughter."

" I have a sister, mother." Jacaerys said, with a joyful tone.

She nodded. " Would you like to hold her, husband?"

Laenor opened his arms out widely, as Rhaenrya passed him their daughter, holding her gently he began to rock her back and forth. He gazed down at her softly and was surprised to see she had taken after him.

" This was not Harwin's daughter, it was his daughter. A child he could call his own." He thought.

Though he did love Jacaerys as his own, this little bundle was different, she was his creation, his blood. " She's beautiful, Rhaenrya."

" Yes, she takes after you it seems." She said, not bothering to look at her husband and newborn daughter instead turning her attention to her son.

Laenor continued to gaze down at his daughter, he grabbed her tiny hand in his palm. The young Princess lifted her gaze to her father and raised her small hand to his cheek, she let out a happy babble, smiling at him brightly

It was only then, when Rhanerya turned her gaze to her daughter. " She's finally made a sound."

" What do you mean?" The young Vealyron asked, not taking his eyes off his daughter.

" She hasn't once made a sound like that from the minute she came into this world." Rhaenrya said. " I held her in my arms and she has not once smiled at me as she is doing with you.

" Perhaps, she is still getting to know you." He replied.

Rhaenrya scoffed. " I'm her mother. I've carried her in my belly for 9 months, and not once has she even accepted me as her mother, yet with you she's all smiles and giggles.

" Rhaenyra, she is a newborn; perhaps she is still getting used to her new surroundings." Harwin said.

" No, she hates me!" The young Princess cried out.

" I'm sure she doesn't, Mother." Little Jacaerys said, trying to console his mother.

Laenor shook his head. " Rhaenrya, you are being ridiculous." Our daughter loves you, I'm sure if you just try to bond with her more than she'll open up to you in no time."

" I picked a new egg out for the baby, Syrax has hatched six more additional eggs." Jacaerys said.

Rhaenrya gazed down at her son softly. " That was kind of you, my sweet. " But, I think your sister is too young to bond with a dragon now.

" Rhaenrya, you bonded with your dragon when you were a newborn. I'm sure our daughter will be fine." Laenor spoke up, not liking how she was treating their daughter differently.

" Like you said, our daughter needs some time to get to know her surroundings, I don't think it would be safe to put a dragon egg in her crib." She replied. " She might be burnt, if it hatches, as you well know Velaryons are not immune to fire like Targaryens."

The young Velaryon gritted his teeth. " She is a Targaryen as well, she is your daughter."

" No, She is a Velaryon not a Targaryen like Jacaerys here!"She exclaimed. She adores you, but she despises me.

" Again, you are speaking nonsense." Laenor said.

Rhaenrya was about to say something until the doors to her chambers opened up widely, in came her father and Alicent. " I hear I have a new grandson, where is he?" Viserys asked, with a bright smile walking over towards his daughter and Laenor.

" We have a daughter, your Grace." Laenor said.

Viserys' smile fell a bit, but he quickly changed his expression to a supruise one. " A daughter? My first granddaughter. May I hold her?"

Laenor gently passed the small babe in his arms. Viserys gazed down at his granddaughter deeply, the young Princess gazed up at the older man curiously and smiled at him.

" She is beautiful." Viserys said. " Well done, my Girl."

Alicent tried to hover over Viserys shoulder trying to catch a glimpse of the baby expecting it to be another bastard, but his back was blocking her from getting a good view.

" Congratulations, Princess Rhaenrya and Prince Laenor." Alicent said, in a flat tone.

Rhaenrya gazed deeply at her former best friend, a fake smile formed on her face. " Thank you, your Grace."

" May I hold her?" The Queen asked. " I wish to lay eyes on my new granddaughter, I bet she looks just like her older brother here.

Rhaenyra glared at the Queen. " I have to feed my daughter soon, your Grace.

" It will only be quick, Princess." Alicent said, ignoring Rhaenrya's words, stepping next to her husband she gently took the young Princess out of his arms and held the infant close.

Alicent gazed down at the girl deeply and was in shock to see the girl's skin color was brown, pulling the cloth from her head she saw the small babe had the shiniest silver gold curly color. This girl was a Velaryon through and through unlike her half bastard brother.

" I see you have finally made a child that looks like you, Prince Laenor." Alicent said, with a smile. " She is a true beauty."

" Thank you, your Grace." Laenor said.

Alicent handed the child back to Laenor. " Have you thought of a name yet, for this beauty?" She asked.

" Yes, her name shall be Maegora Velaryon." Rhaenrya declared.

Gasps of shocks ranged out in the room, Viserys's eyes widened in shock at his daughter's suggestion. " Rhaenrya, you wish to make her after the Cruel King."

" Father, it's just a name, it doesn't mean anything." The young Princess defended.

Alicent shook her head. " This beautiful babe doesn't deserve to be named after a monster, her name should be something pure."

" She is my daughter, your Grace. I will name her whatever I see fit." Rhaenrya hissed.

" How bout, Rhaella." Jacaerys suggested.

" Yes, Rhaella sounds like a beautiful name." Viserys said, in agreement.

Laenor gazed down at his daughter deeply, a name popped up in his head. " How about Meriahnya?"

" Meriahnya, that's a beautiful name." Alicent smiled.

Viserys nodded. " Yes, the perfect name for a Princess."

Rhaenrya shook her head, disliking how she was being challenged." No, her name will be Maegora, I have already decided on it."

" Her name will be Meriahnya and that's it!." Laenor declared. " My daughter will not be named after the Cruel King."

" She is my daughter as well, or have you forgotten."

The small babe let out a happy bail as she gazed up at her father warmly.

" The Princess seems to like it." Alicent said.

" Meriahnya is a terrible name." Rhaenrya snarled. " No, daughter will be called such filth as that."

Alicent shook her head. " Oh, but you would name her after the Cruel King hmm."

Rhaenrya glared at her former friend and was about to snap at her, until Viserys cut in.

" Meriahnya, it is then." Viserys smiled at his granddaughter.

" But, father I." She was about to say, but was cut off by the Queen.

" We must hold a celebration in honor for her, my King." Alicent spoke up. " Perhaps, a grand tournament in honor for the newest member of the royal family and a new heir for Driftmark."

" Yes, I will send the invitations out immediately." Viserys said.

" Father, I don't think that's necessary." Rhaenrya said. " I have only given birth to a girl, it's not if it's a boy."

" Nonsense, my first ever granddaughter's birth should be celebrated!" The King exclaimed. " A heir for Driftmark has been born this very night, it's a moment that shouldn't be forgotten.

Laenor nodded. " Yes, my daughter's birth should be a special occasion."

Rhaenyra gritted her teeth, a fake smile formed on her face. " If you say, father."

" Wait, what about my nameday, Father." Jacaerys spoke up." Won't that be a special occasion too, it's coming up soon."

The young Prince crossed his arms over his chest, pouting hating how his little sister was receiving all the attention and not him. How he missed being an only child, now he had to share the spotlight with his sister.

" Jacaerys, your birthday is seven moons away." Alicent said. " I am sure your mother and father will throw you a lavish name day."

" Yea, my sweet." Rhaenrya said, turning to her son. " I promise we will not let your sister's birth overshadow your fourth nameday.

Jacaerys smiled. " Can Ser Strong come."

Alicent turned her head towards Ser Strong and smirked. "I'm sure he can make it to your name day, he is practically a part of your family already."

Laenor and Rhaenrya shared a glance at each other, both thinking the same thing.Harwin turned to his son. " I wouldn't miss it for the world, my Prince."

Jacaerys smiled. " You promise?"

The Knight nodded. " I swear."

Rhaenrya smiled at the sight of her son and lover together, if only things could be so much simpler. Instead, she was stuck in a loveless marriage with a gay man and a daughter who didn't even take after her.

" May, Me And my husband have the room to ourselves now, Father." She asked. " I wish to change into something fresh and rest."

" Yes, we shall leave you now." Viserys said. " Tomorrow, a feast shall be held in honor of the birth of my first ever granddaughter."

With that, Viserys left the room followed by Alicent and Harwin. Jacaerys soon was escorted out the room by Lady Massey and was taken back to his chambers. Once they were gone, Rhaenrya turned to Laenor and let out a snarky response at his favoritism toward their daughter.

" Must you be that obvious." Rhaenrya hissed. "

" She is our daughter, what is so wrong with celebrating her birth." He asked. " When Jacaerys was born he had a grand tournament that lasted for weeks."

" That's entirely different, he is the heir to the Iron Throne after me. Our daughter is just a Princess nothing more, she has nothing to inherit.

" Driftmark will be hers one day, she will be its Queen." Laenor said.

Rhaenrya signed. " She is a girl, she can't inherit anything. And Drifmark will pass down to Jacaerys's future children or if we are to have a new son."

Laenor glared at his wife. " You're a hypocrite, you're a woman who was named heir to the Iron Throne you have no problem breaking Westeros traditions, but when it comes to Velayron traditions the people of Driftmark doesn't care who sit on the Driftmark throne as long as their ruler is a kind and fair one."

" I believe our daughter will be a great ruler one day, if only you would give her a chance."

"If you grant her Driftmark, you will be putting Jacaerys's life in danger." Rhaenrya hissed. " Everyone already questioned our son's parentage enough already as it is, now they will begin to further their question when they see our daughter looks nothing like her brother."

Laenor nodded. " I know, I would never do anything to put you or Jacaerys in harm's way. But, she is my daughter and I just want the best for her."

" And, she is my daughter too." Rhaenrya said. " I want nothing best for her as well, and what is best for her is to be just a Princess with nothing to inherit. It's safer for her."

" I suppose you are right." He grumbled. " But, just know if you try to grant Driftmark to Jacaerys the people of Driftmark may not accept him as heir, especially my uncle Vaemond."

" They will have to accept him, if not I will reign fire and blood down upon them." Rhaenrya threatened. " My son will be King."

Rhaenrya pushed the covers off of her and got up out of the bed, and waddle over towards the door.

" Where are you going?" Laenor asked. You shouldn't be up in your condition, you just have birth."

" I'll be fine, I have to put Jacaerys to sleep." She answered.

Suddenly, Meriahyna let out a loud wail as her tummy began to rumble. Rhaenrya ignored her daughter's cries and opened the door.

" She's hungry, you can't leave now." The young Velaryon said.

" Give her to a wet nurse." Rhaenrya said, before leaving the room.

Laenor stood there in the middle of the room holding his daughter in his arms. It was clear to him, Rhaenrya held no love or affection for their daughter as she did their son. And, now she wanted to take Driftmark from his daughter and give it to Jacaerys.

He understood some of her reasoning; but the way she dismissed their daughter in need just now made him angry. How could she be so cruel and deny their daughter food, it was if she wanted their daughter to starve.

He stared down at his daughter deeply, pressing a kiss to her forehead. " I love you, my little sea Princess. I promise I will protect you for as long as I live."

And, so the young Prince kept his promise as long as he could until he had to break it.

Later that night, Laenor put his daughter to rest in her nursery. Meriahnya was wide awake laying in her crib, the cold breeze blowing on her as the nursery windows were open widely. The full moon was in full effect and shined a bright light over the Red Keep, a sudden gust of wind breezing over the young Princess , causing Meirahyna to whimper. Then, a loud roar through the sky.

An enormous aqua blue, sea green winged dragon soared through the skies of King's Landing, spreading its wings widely which covered the entire city below in darkness. It let out a roar again as it descended towards the young Princess's nursery. With gentle movement, the dragon leaned his head down towards the crib, its eyes filling with curiosity and warmness. Meriahnya gazed up at the dragon curiously, and reached out with her tiny hands, the dragon lowered his head down towards the infant allowing her to pet him.

The dragon let out a soft screech at the infant and nuzzled its nose against her.Meriahnya let out a giggle, smiling brightly at the dragon. Suddenly, the Dragon grabbed one of the small infants' hands in his talon, gently stroking it with his claw. It was unusually for a Dragon to be this resilient with a person let alone a small babe.

The Dragon eyes glowed a sea blue green color, capturing the young Princess's attention.Meriahyna's eyes soon began to glow the same memorizing color as the dragon. In that moment, a bond had been formed between the young Princess and the Dragon, a magical one at that, their souls binded as one.

While Princess Rhaenrya thought her daughter was a seahorse, she was mistaken for her daughter was a Sea Dragon, but not just an ordinary dragon, now a magical one with an enormous dragon as her mount.

While her brother Jacaerys has yet to hatch his egg yet, Meriahyna was able to bond with a dragon that was the bigger than the great Balerion himself .

Sea Dragons were strong and resilient, they were not like ordinary dragons. They could swim in the ocean, attack enemies on land, and have the deadliest flame, they were magical unique beings, and Meriahnya Velaryon would be the strongest of them all.
