Evelyn stepped out of the car with her friends in her wake.

Kyran and Alec were fighting again.

She rolled her eyes, picking up her phone.

Gold's friends eyed them but chickened out when they saw the driver.

She scrolled down to the school page with a picture of Alec and comments underneath.

She sighed as she pressed 'report'.

Her driver gave her a curious look but she shook her head.

"See you Sam." Evelyn waved dismissively.

He nodded and started up the car again.

Alec and Kyran waved to him.

A teacher arrived outside the school when the driver drove off.

They stood near her vision but not close enough to be called cowards or teacher's pets.

Gold arrived, talking into her phone again.

She glanced at us and rolled her eyes dramatically.

She ended her call and clicked on something else.

She turned to her friends and started laughing, pointing to her phone.

She put it on and Evelyn, Alec and Kyran heard the words "Crush... Go out?"

Kyran turned red and looked away.

Alec glared at them and hugged Kyran, whispering, "she's trash ignore her. You can do better than her."

Despite Alec's efforts, a tear slipped down his face.

Evelyn glanced at her anime-loving friend, feeling angry that they made a kind boy like him cry.

She turned to him, opening her mouth to comfort him but felt she couldn't say anything.

She stole a glance at Gold to see that she looked slightly embarrassed and sorry.

As she should.

But her friends were laughing loudly and pointing at Kyran shamelessly.

Her fists clenched.

Why was Gold doing this?

She clearly got the reaction she wanted so why was she looking so meek and sorrowful?

Gold looked at Kyran.

She felt bad ridiculing him.

After all, hadn't they been friends for two years?

She felt cruel and disgusting.

She saw her friends laughing and desperately wanted to impress them so she attempted a chuckle but it came out a pitiful choked gasp.

They turned to her, a few wiping their eyes at the very idea Kyran had a chance with Gold.

Gold wanted nothing more than spit at them.

She bit her lip to stop herself swearing at them.

Seeing Kyran sobbing was a painful sight, a few weeks ago she'd beat up anyone who dared made him frown.

But now, everything was different.

She felt worse hearing his strangled attempts at speaking.

She wanted to bash her own brains in.

A girl in her group called Sarah frowned at everyone laughing.

"Guys, that was a really cute confession though!" She giggled.

The group turned to her, she nervously took a step back.

A girl called Katie piped up, "Yeah it was adorable!"

A few more girls admitted that they'd date Kyran.

"Only if he wasn't a dork!" One cackled and a few agreed after an awkward silence.

Sarah looked offended.

"That's so rude! He's cute I'd definitely date him!" She cried.

Katie's gave a very small nod.

Sarah and Katie marched off to go apologise to Kyran.

Sarah turned around and glared at Gold.

"Your behaviour is disgusting. A boy confesses his genuine love for you and you make fun of him in his face because he's not hot enough?"

"Disgusting." She repeated.

Gold turned red and looked at the floor.

She was so right.

She was disgusting.

To be doing this to someone as sweet as Kyran who'd let them stay at his dorm when they were facing hardships without blinking.

Who'd always lent her money whenever she needed.

Who'd always been kind and caring.

Who'd always make an effort in their conversations always knowing what to say and when no understanding would ask satisfying questions.

Who'd never raised his voice at them or a hand.

She felt like she was a scumbag for being so snobby to him of all people.

And if anything, she would've totally liked him back.

Is what she told herself.

Under any other circumstances they would be happy.

But she knew that wasn't possible now.

Despite her yearing to give Kyran a hug, she stood back.

She felt her inner turmoil.

Her friends simply ignored them.

"Gold, don't feel bad from what that bitch said." Said Freya, one of her closest friends.

"Yeah, they've always been drab." Sadie agreed.

"They're just jealous..." Cindy said, her voice cracking as she was Katie's best friend.

Macy hugged Gold. "Hun, forget about those bitches."

Gold started crying, feeling like she didn't deserve any of this which just made them all swarm around her more.

Evelyn looked at Gold with disgust.

Crying as if she had been wronged when she just made fun of Kyran publicly for something he couldn't control.

Sarah and Katie were apologising to Kyran over and over again.

Sarah was particularly apologetic, eyeing Kyran up and down and blushing when he looked her way.

Unused the attention, Kyran was blushing and stuttering too.

Something about the sight made Evelyn angry.

And, jealous...

She didn't like the feeling of being jealous of a girl far less important than her.

Far less wealthy than her.

Far less smart than her.

Far less loved than her.

Far less serious than her.

But far more pretty than her.

Far more charming than her.

Far more loveable than her.

Far more...

"Evelyn? You alright?" Alec asked.

Evelyn shook her head, feeling guilty for feeling sorry for herself when Alec was far much worse off than her.

Alec looked concerned as he peered at her.

"You look pale."

She swatted his hand away.

"I'm fine." She said through gritted teeth.

Kyran looked back at them, confused as to what they were bickering about.

He raised an eyebrow to Alec but he shook his head mouthing that nothing was wrong.

Evelyn felt bad but didn't say anything.

Small footsteps approached.

Tap, tap, tap.

Why were people gasping? Evelyn thought irritably.

Thump, Thump, Thump.

They slowly grew louder and louder as the person came close.

Alec looked up and went pale himself.

Kyran looked at the person and he looked angry.

Evelyn looked up to see who was bamboozling her friends.

And she saw her ex friend.

"Funneh."
