" face like a blooming field but a heart like the sun "
ooo. | THE FOLLOWING MORNING, Izumi wanted to visit her mother's grave site for a few hours before heading over to Itokan. So she made her way to a popular outdoors shopping area just a few minutes away from her home for flowers and to buy her mother's favorite wine. She would always have her mother's favorite things such as chocolate chip cookies, pork buns and red wine for her visits. Then, she would sit at her tombstone and just talk to her for a while, updating her about her life and reminiscing on the great memories she had with her.
It was spring time. Her mother's favorite time of the year and Izumi's birthday season. Her birthday is on May 4th and April was just ending.
Izumi walked through the busy shopping area, carrying her day bag as she looked at the different colored flowers all around her. The shopping area near her home was like a farmers market. It was always busy. Especially around this time of the year where the weather was hot and the days were brighter. Melting away the winter completely.
Her long and bright yellow sun dress flowed gracefully as she walked along the flowers all around her. She was looking for red anemones and marigolds. Two of her mother's favorite flowers. The old bouquet was dead now, so she needed to replace them.
"Afternoon, Miss Karasuda." Miss Sato, the flower shop owner, greeted her after helping another customer. "Visiting your mother, I see?"
"Hello, Sato-san," Izumi smiled at her, walking over to the front counter. "Yes, speaking of, do you have red anemones and marigolds around? I know they must be in season."
"Already on it, my love." Sato replied as she left to make the bouquet for her. Leaving Izumi to look around while she waited for her bouquet to be made.
Izumi walked around the shop slowly, just admiring the other flowers in bloom while she hummed a soft song to herself. She began to become so lost in her own thoughts that she almost missed someone approaching her.
"You should add white lilies next time," a voice suddenly pointed out, making her jump a little.
ย ย ย She spun around to see a man, taller than her but she could tell he wasn't that tall. His hair was black and unruly, covering his eyebrows and part of his eyes. He was wearing a black shirt with matching black pants and shoes and a red and white hoodie left open. He looked a bit bored of his surroundings but he somehow looked invested in her.
ย ย ย "Hm?" Sunmi hummed, raising her eyebrows at him. She was still in slight shock of his sudden appearance.
ย ย He nodded his forehead towards the white lilies behind her. "White lilies represent peace and tranquility at funerals and grave visits." He explained. "It means whoever you're laying to rest has had a peaceful death."
ย ย "Oh~" she chuckled out, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Thank you, Mister......"
ย ย ย "Norihisa Hyuga, but you can call me Norihisa." He, Norihisa, introduced himself gracefully, bowing his head a little. He winked at her and smiled softly.
ย ย ย Izumi blushed a pretty pink. He looked really charming when he did that. It also helped that he was handsome. Which made her feel butterflies in her stomach.
ย ย ย "O-Okay," she stammered, smiling sheepishly at him. "Thank you, Norihisa-san," she offered a hand for him to shake.
ย ย ย Hyuga gently wrapped his around her soft and dainty fingers, slowly bringing it up and pressing a soft kiss on their knuckles. Izumi stared into his brown eyes as he looked right back at her, allowing her hand to slip from his grasp.
ย ย ย "Believe me," he replied in a sensuous tone. His tired eyes staring deeply into her own as if he was seeing through her soul. "The pleasure is all mine."
ย ย ย Izumi blushed even harder as she felt her heart burn brighter. The corners of her lips turned upright leisurely.
ย ย ย "Here you are," the florist came back, appearing unexpectedly. Breaking their moment completely. "Your bouquet."
ย ย ย She handed Izumi a nicely made bouquet of red anemones and golden yellow marigolds, wrapped in white tissue paper with a pink bow tying it together.
ย ย ย "Oh, ummm." Izumi said, suddenly breaking from her hypnotic state as she took her bouquet. She pulled out her wallet from her purse with one hand. "Thank you so much-"
ย ย "I'll pay for it." Hyuga interrupted her, giving Miss Sato his credit card. "While you're at it, I would like to buy that vase of red roses, please."
ย ย Izumi looked at him, surprised by his gesture. Miss Sato smiled at him, taking the card. "Of course, Mr. Hyuga."
ย ย ย "Y-You didn't have to do that." Izumi said hurriedly. "Really, I-"
ย ย ย ย "What kind of gentleman would I be if I allowed a lady to pay for her own flowers?" Hyuga spoke up, shoving his hands in his pockets.
ย ย ย ย Izumi giggled, feeling her face turn pink again. All while Hyuga gazed at her intently. Her giggle was melodic. He wanted to listen to her giggle all day long.
"Still," she said, smiling at him. "I feel like I should repay you,"
"I know a way you can repay me." He replied as Miss Sato came back with his card and his roses. He quickly thanked the sweet old lady, taking the items from her. "Would you be so kind as to accompany me to dinner this Friday? I know a great place near the city."
Izumi blinked in surprise. She has never been asked out so boldly before. It made her feel so giddy, like a school girl talking to her crush. But it also made her nervous. This would be her first date since high school, actually. She's been single that long.
"O-okay." She stuttered out, feeling her face tingle as her cheeks turned pink. "Friday night, then."
Norihisa smirked at her before pulling a card out of his pocket and handing it to her. "Here's my number." He said. "I'll be looking out for you to call soon. Have a beautiful day, Miss...."
He trailed off, realizing that he never got her name. She snapped out of her dazed mind and introduced herself. "My name is Izumi Karasuda."
"Have a beautiful day, Miss Karasuda." Norihisa said, grinning at her softly before walking away. Leaving the flustered girl in yellow there, watching his every move.
Izumi couldn't believe what just happened. She really scored a date within 30 minutes of meeting a good looking guy. With a smile adorning her face, she went on about her day, thinking about Norihisa Hyuga the entire time.
"You look cheerful." Naomi commented as she watched her friend walk in with a pretty smile on her lips.
Everyone stopped and looked at the sunny girls smile. Isumi was glowing today. They all knew that she usually was a little bit gloomy after visiting her mothers gravesite. But this time, she was in a brighter mood than most days.
"I am~" she sighed, sitting at the bar as she placed her purse on the stool next to her. "Today is such a beautiful day, isn't it?"
Naomi stopped cleaning the glass cups and leaned on the bar She flashed Izumi a knowing smirk on her face. "I know that smile anywhere," she commented, pointing at her face. "Someone's got a date, huh?"
Izumi bit her lip a little, trying to stop herself from smiling even more. But before she could deny anything, she was interrupted.
"Date?!" Tetsu exclaimed, dropping his phone on the table and standing up from his seat. He had a protective glare in his eyes. "What do you mean Izumi-chan has a date?!"
Izumi sighed, giving Naomi a glare. Said girl just nonchalantly shrugged and went back to cleaning her glass cups. Sighing, Izumi spun around in her seat to see everyone staring at her with frowns on their face.
Cobra, who usually didn't care about things like this, even peered at her over the magazine he was reading. One eyebrow arched up as if to say "explain yourself".
"Yes," she confirmed. "I have a date this Friday night,"
"Boys, you know what this means." Yamato turned to the guys with a stern look in his eyes. Tetsu and Dan nodded their heads before Tetsu pulled out his phone.
"What's his name? His home address? His social security number?" Tetsu began listing off things he needed to look whoever this guy was. "Where does he work at? Is he from Sannoh? What's his blood type?"
"Do you remember how to do a roundhouse kick like I taught you?" Dan quickly added. "Remember, it's all in the ankles and knees."
"Remember how I taught you how to break someone's hand?" Yamato quickly shot out right after Dan's words. "And do you still remember how to break a jaw with your fist like Cobra taught you?"
"Where are you guys going?" Tetsu asked, crossing his arms. "It better be a nice place and nothing cheap."
"If he gets too handsy, call me." Cobra spoke up. His deep voice sounding very serious. He was using his leader voice, as Izumi would call it. "I'll make sure he regrets it."
As sweet as she thought they were for being protective of her, she was pretty sure that she could take care of herself. She didn't really get any weird vibes from Norihisa. But then again, one can never be too safe.
ย ย ย "Thank you, but I think I got this." She replied, offering them a soft smile.
