CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO - TUTENHAWKEN'S CURSE

"LIFE FOR THE KINGS AND queens of Ancient Egypt was awash with riches and treasures beyond the imagination. Some of these artifacts are over 4,000 years old." Mrs. Porter explained. We stopped once more. "And this is a sarcophagus of the ancient pharaoh Tutenhawken. He was a feared leader who was believed to have mystical powers." Mrs. Porter said as our class walked around it.

"Cool." Some guy said. "Whoa! Check out these hieroglyphics." Ethan exclaimed. "Weird. What's it say?" Conner asked. "The legend is, that Tutenhawken was able to put hexes upon his enemies. The exact translation is unclear. But these writings are believed to be some sort of curse." Mrs. Porter explained to us.

"That is beyond cool, man. I gotta write this stuff down." Ethan said as he began writing it down. Trent and I looked at him. "Why?" Trent asked. "So I can decipher it. It'll be like cracking an ancient computer code." Ethan replied. Conner chuckled.

"In other words, it speaks to his inner cyber geek." Conner said. "Well, I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one of his curses." Kira stated. "I agree. I've already been cursed once in my life." I added. "Oh, come on, you guys don't actually believe in all that stuff, do you?" Ethan asked us. Conner and Kira looked at him as they walked away. Ethan, Trent, and I followed them.

We were at Hayley's Cyberspace. "So close. Only a few more symbols to translate." Ethan said. "Are you getting extra credit for this or something?" Conner asked. "No, it's a personal challenge. Tutenhawken may have been the king of Egypt, but I'm the king of codes." Ethan replied. "Mrs. Porter said there might be a curse. Maybe you should—" Kira started off.

"This is about technology, hard facts... not about some crazy legend." Ethan told her. "Crazy or not. I would still be careful." I informed as Kira nodded in agreement. "Yes, I got it." Ethan exclaimed. "Cool, what does it say?" Conner asked. "To the defilers of my tomb, I know bestow external doom. Woe to you who read this verse, upon you is the pharaoh's... curse." Ethan read out loud.

"Oh, dude, you're cursed. Get away from me before it rubs off." Conner said. "Very funny." Ethan told him. "Seriously, though, what's gonna happen? Are you gonna, like, turn into a cocker spaniel or grow an extra head or something?" Conner asked. "These warnings were put on the tomb to scare off grave robbers and thieves. That's all it is." Ethan answered.

"Mhm." Conner mumbled, not believing him. "Back me up here, Kira and Tanner." Ethan told Kira and I. "Hey... I said you shouldn't read it." Kira said, putting her hands up in defense. "And I did say you should be careful. Don't blame us if all your hair falls out." I added. "Will you guys listen? Nothing is gonna happen from reading that curse." Ethan informed.

There was sudden beeping. "5:30?! I told my mom I'd pick her up at work!" Ethan exclaimed. He tried to unplug his laptop but it ended up falling on the ground and breaking. "Ahh! I don't believe it." Ethan said as he picked up his now broken laptop. "Your new laptop." Kira exclaimed. "My games... My files. My life." Ethan muttered as he hugged his laptop.

"It's started... Tutenhawken's curse." Conner said. "Would you quit about the curse? There's no such thing." Ethan told him as he walked away. Ethan walked back into Hayley's Cyberspace. "Guys, listen, I think you're right. Tutenhawken's curse is real." Ethan said as he sat down.

I covered up my nose with my purple colored tank top as I scooted closer to Kira, trying to get away from the smell of rotting fish. "Ew! Dude, you want to tell us from over there? You smell like week-old fish sticks." Conner stated. "I was thinking of rotting fish. But that works too." I commented. "All this weird stuff has been happening to me. There's no other explanation." Ethan said to us.

That's when Cassidy and Devin walked in. Devin was dressed as a servant and Cassidy was dressed like a queen. "Don't you think it's a little early for Halloween, Cassidy?" Kira asked. "You shall address me as Queen Cassipatra." Cassidy replied. Conner chuckled. "I can't believe I used to live like these lowly commoners. Ahem. My chair." Cassidy ordered Devin.

"Oh, right." Devin said as Cassidy sat down. Ethan got up and headed towards Cassidy. "Pew!" Cassidy exclaimed. "Cass, what's with all this?" Ethan asked her. "You stinketh to high heaven. I find your odor most foul, peasant." Cassidy replied. "Peasant? Are you losing it?" Ethan asked. "No, actually, I've just found it. Someone who appreciates me, that is. Look at all this gold and jewels he gave me." Cassidy answered, showing off her jewels she had on.

"Man, people called you shallow, but I always told them they were wrong. It looks like I was the one who was wrong." Ethan stated as he walked back towards us and sat down. "Don't feel bad, Ethan. Cassidy will never change." Kira informed. "But she was changing. This whole Cleopatra thing has gotta have something to do with that pharaoh. I gotta find a way to break that curse." Ethan said.

"Maybe there's something we missed at the museum." I suddenly said. "Yeah, like some sort of counter-spell or something." Ethan said. "Tanner, why don't you go back to the museum and see if you can find anything? Ethan, I think you, Kira, and I should go to Dr. O. and fill him in on the situation." Conner said as we all got up.

I was at the museum as I looked around, holding a piece of paper. I finally found something and began writing. "Thief! Who dares defile the pharaoh's tomb?" Tutenhawken said. "No!" I shouted as I turned around and dodged his attack.

"I was just copying it down!" I exclaimed as I folded the piece of paper and tucked it in a back pocket of my jeans. "You shall bear the wrath of Tutenhawken!" Tutenhawken shouted as he tried to attack me but I dodged and tried to fight him but he flipped me onto the ground.

I got up and got into a fighting stance. "And you shall bear the wrath of the Purple Ranger." I told him. I held up my wrist as my morpher showed. "Dino Thunder, Power up! HA!" I shouted. I morphed into my Ranger form. "Carno Power!" I shouted. "Fire laser!" I shouted as I fired at him but it had no effect. Tutenhawken just laughed it off. He got out a lasso as it wrapped around me and then I crashed into some artifacts.

"Your whole city will pay for what you have done!" Tutenhawken exclaimed. "No! Stop!" I shouted as Tutenhawken left. "Guys, we got a mad mummy in the quarry." I said over my morpher. "Who dares challenge me?" Tutenhawken said. "Me!" I shouted as I got my Carno Sword out and attacked him. I continued attacking him. "Super Dino Mode!" I shouted. I landed an attack on him once more.

"Tanner! Are you okay?" Conner asked me as he, Ethan, and Kira ran towards me. "Yeah, I'm fine." I replied. "And so am I!" Tutenhawken said as he got up. "But how? I destroyed you!" I exclaimed. "There is only one way to destroy the great Tutenhawken!" Tutenhawken said as he fired lasers at us. He grabbed Conner as Ethan, Kira, and I followed him. Conner fell to the ground. "Oh, man!" Kira exclaimed.

"Thunder Max lasers!" Kira, Ethan, and I shouted as we fired at Tutenhawken but he dodged it. He flew straight at us and attacked us. "Now you will all pay!" Tutenhawken said as he got out his lasso. That is until Trent attacked him. "You want more?" Trent asked. "You shall see me again!" Tutenhawken said as he flew away. "Power down." Trent said as he demorphed. "Power down." Conner, Ethan, Kira, and I said as we demorphed as well.

We ran up to Trent. "Hey, guys." Trent greeted us. "Thanks, man. We owe you one." Conner said. "Not a problem." Trent said. "This whole thing is my fault." Ethan stated. "Look, he said there's only one way to defeat him. So we just gotta find out what that is." Conner said. "Hold on, I found some more hieroglyphics at the exhibit. Maybe there's a counter-spell in there." I informed as I took out the piece of paper from my back pocket and handed it to Ethan.

"Yeah, it's worth a shot." Ethan said. "Well, get cracking, king of codes." Conner told him as Ethan nodded. The piece of paper blew away as Ethan went to get it. A tree branch was falling. "Look out!" Trent yelled as he knocked Ethan out of the way just in time. Conner, Kira, and I looked at each other as we ran to see if they were alright. "You okay?" Conner asked.

"Don't worry, Ethan. You can break the curse." I told him. "I just hope I live long enough to." Ethan answered. "Come on... Sweet. You're mine." Ethan said. "Careful, there might be an even worse... curse." Conner told him as he landed his hand on Ethan's shoulder. "Hey, that rhymes." Conner added.

"Tutenhawken's power cannot be matched on Earth. But only in the sky can you break the pharaoh's curse." Ethan read out loud. "Great, I'll just use the Ptera Zord to fight it." Kira stated. "I don't know, Kira. The curse is on Ethan. I think he's the one that has to break it." Dr. Oliver informed. "Last time I checked, The Tricera Zord didn't have wings." Ethan mumbled. "Ethan, you are about to owe me so big-time. Come look." Hayley said. We all followed her.

"Woah, check it out!" Ethan exclaimed. "Nice work." Dr. Oliver complimented. "Wow!" Kira exclaimed. "Tight! That's for me?" Ethan asked. "Yep, the latest technology. Faster than anything I have ever built." Hayley replied. "That is so amazing. It wouldn't happen to fly, would it?" Ethan asked. "Fly? No." Hayley responded.

"Hayley, we, uh, need it to fly." Dr. Oliver told her. Hayley nodded. "I see." She said. "And they couldn't have told me that before?" Hayley mumbled as she groaned. "I'm gonna stay and help her." Ethan informed. The alarm beeped. "Looks like more trouble." Dr. Oliver informed. "But they're not finished modifying the bike." Trent stated. "We better hold him off as long as we can." Conner said. "Okay." Dr. Oliver said as he nodded.

"Ready?" Conner asked. "Ready!" Kira, Trent, and I replied. "Dino Thunder, Power Up! HA!" Conner, Kira, and I shouted. "White Ranger, Dino Power!" Trent shouted. We all morphed into our Ranger form. "Dino Power!" All four of us shouted. We were at the place where Tutenhawken was. "There he is!" Conner exclaimed.

"Ready!" Conner asked. We all got out our weapons. "Fire!" All of us shouted. We fired our weapons but Tutenhawken fired back at us. We all landed on the ground.

"We gotta go Super Dino!" Conner exclaimed. We were all in Super Dino Mode as Tutenhawken attacked us once more. Trent and I fell on the ground next to each other as we saw Elsa coming from one of the portals. "We meet again, White and Purple Ranger!" Elsa exclaimed.

Trent and I got up. She got out her sword as Trent and I headed to attack her while Conner and Kira delt with Tutenhawken. Trent and I began to fight her as she dodged and then attacked us . She attacked us again as Trent and I went flying. "Trent! Tanner!" Kira exclaimed. "Back off!" Conner exclaimed. "It's over, Rangers!" Tutenhawken stated as Elsa appeared next to him. We all stood up and got in a fighting stance. Elsa looked at Tutenhawken.

"Finish them!" Elsa ordered. "I shall!" Tutenhawken said. He fired at us as we fell to the ground. "Man, that was harsh!" Conner said. "When did they hook up?" I wondered out loud. That's when Tutenhawken suddenly got attacked by someone. We then saw Ethan. "Hovercraft Cycle to the rescue!" Ethan said. "Hey, I want one of those, too!" Conner exclaimed.

"Lasers!" Ethan shouted as he fired at Elsa. Elsa dodged and fired at Ethan. Elsa kept firing at Ethan as he kept dodging. He then got out his weapon as he fired at Elsa. That's when Tutenhawken attacked him. "Goodbye!" Tutenhawken said as he flew over the lake. "I don't think so. Hover Mode, Activate!" Ethan yelled. He began going after Ethan.

"Whoa! It works!" Kira exclaimed. "Hey! right behind ya!" Ethan said. "Huh?" Tutenhawken stated as he turned around. Ethan kept firing at Tutenhawken until he was finally destroyed. "Sometimes I just love this job." Ethan commented. Trent, Kira, Conner, and I cheered for him. "Now, that was crazy." Ethan said. "You broke the curse!" Kira exclaimed. "I sure hope so." Ethan said.

Just then, Tutenhawken grew big. "He's back!" Trent exclaimed. "Not her, too!" Ethan exclaimed. "Trent and I will handle Elsa!" I told them. "We'll finish the freak!" Conner said. "Right!" Ethan said as they ran off. Trent and I got out our weapons. Elsa attacked us as we both dodged it and fired it back at her. "Had enough?" Trent said. "You got lucky this time! Mesogog will prevail!" Elsa told us as she disappeared into a portal.

"I'll be ready." Trent mumbled. We were at Hayley's Cyberspace. "Oh! And its another victory for Team Red. Sorry, man. I'll tell you what — Next time, we'll play "Tomb raider."" Conner promised. Ethan looked at him. "Okay, bad idea." Conner said. "No, I'm just glad that stupid curse is broken. It was brutal." Ethan said.

"Speaking of brutal..." Kira said as Cassidy walked in. "Can I talk to you for a minute... alone?" Cassidy asked as she looked at Kira, Conner, and I. "Can we make this quick? I'm busy." Ethan said as he followed Cassidy. Devin walked passed us.

"Looks like Cassidy has a spell on Devin and Ethan." Kira said as all three of us laughed.
