29 ᯾ Study Camp ᵖᵃʳᵗ ᵒⁿᵉ
"Now we finally get to have our summer break!" Nene squealed as she raised her arms up out of both excitement and relief.
Y/n scratched her cheek as she placed her bag over her shoulder. "Nene-chan, I think you're forgetting something." Y/n chuckled nervously as Aoi nodded in agreement.
"Starting the day after tomorrow, we have to go on our study camp, remember?" Aoi cooed as she placed a hand on her cheek. Nene's eyes widened as she looked at the two girl's infront of her, dumbfounded.
"Camp?"
"Study Camp?" Hanako pouted as he lowered the small banner which wrote: good work on the exams!
"That's right." Y/n smiled as she raised a finger up. "The first years of the high school division get to go. Everyone meets when the sun goes down and we all go together as a group."
Kou raised his hand, a grin making its way into his face. "I'm part of the executive committee, so I'll be going as well," he beamed.
The three students smiled before giving each other a high five, with Hanako included.
Y/n then took a step back from the other three and gave them a light chuckle. "I also decided to think about my lifespan a bit more after the camp ends," she stated, tilting her head to the side to avoid eye contact.
The other three all flinched as they stared at Y/n, flabbergasted by the fact that she had brought up the subject they never wanted to hear again.
"Y-Y/n-chan?!" Hanako shrieked as he tried pushing Y/n, getting his fingers intertwined with hers in the process.
"But like, study camp is one of the good memories you get to have at school." The girl lowered her gaze. "And plus, it would be really cool to meet you at night, Hanako-kun..."
The boy looked at her. He pouted as he felt a light blush making its way onto his face.
"Eh, Y/n-chan is forgetting something!" Nene clung onto the girl's arms as she looked up with sparkles in her eyes. "The chances of getting asked out during summer camp is high. It's one of those famed love events you always get to hear about!"
"Eh? What are you talking about, Nene-chan?"
"I'm just saying, you might actually get yourself a boyfriend during the camp!"
"Ridiculous..."
"No way-!"
Nene was cut off when she felt water getting splashed onto her. She shrieked and quickly hid behind Y/n out of instinct. She then glared at the suspect who held a laddle on his hand.
"Eh? Why are you trying to splash me with water?" Nene frowned, though Hanako didn't seem to mind it.
The apparition quickly took Y/n away from Nene. He wrapped his arms around her protectively as he gave Nene a pout.
"You're being a bad influence to Y/n-chan right now, Yashiro," Hanako cooed as he stroked Y/n's hair. "You might have a chance of getting asked out, but I'll make sure Y/n won't~"
Y/n flinched as she quickly looked over her shoulder. "What?! Why?!"
Hanako hummed. "I don't know, guess why, Y/n-chan~!"
Hanako then floated towards Kou, leaving both Y/n and Nene confused as they watched the apparition teasing the exorcist.
"L/n-san!"
"L/n-san! Help!"
"How do you do this, L/n-san?"
Y/n was in the verge of having a mental breakdown as she ran around the place, going in circles along with her fellow Student Council member, Akane.
Since they were both in the Student Council, the two were assigned to help other students and make sure nothing wrong happens.
As of the very moment, Y/n was regretting on joining the Student Council.
"I have to go and help them out." Y/n pointed at the group who was having difficulties in cooking. Akane nodded as pointed over to the boys who were causing a commotion. "Then I'll head over there."
As Y/n walked towards the group, she heard a soft sound of a flute. She couldn't tell where it was coming from, but for sure, the sound of a flute was evident.
Though no one seemed to take notice of it. Y/n concluded that it was just from a random supernatural who loved music.
"Okay, what do you need help in?"
"Oh! L/n-san-!"
"Sometimes, I wonder what's my purpose in life." Y/n huffed as she stood on her toes, trying to get the box on top of the shelves. "This may seem random to you, Akane-kun. But I'm sure, my purpose is not to get this box."
Akane snickered as he crossed his arms. "So what?"
"Well, I'm saying... With that height of yours, why don't you be so useful and get it for me?"
"Y/n-chan's purpose is to get that box." Akane leaned on the desk as he raised the box on his hands. "Plus, I already got my own share of heavy boxes."
Y/n grumbled as she gave Akane a glare. "I'm not telling you to bring it, I'm just telling you to get it... Not so hard, am I right?" She then sighed. "You know what, screw that, I'm gonna climb this shelf-"
"Ah, wait. I think I suddenly had the urge to get it."
"Hm?" Y/n raised a brow at Akane, who already held his hands out in order to reach the box. "What's with the sudden change of attitude?"
"Well.." The red head sweat dropped as he remembered the words that the president had told him a while back. "Let's just say, I was forced into taking care of you."
"By Teru-san?"
"Yeah."
"It can't be helped." Y/n shrugged before letting out a small smile. "Akane-kun, my arms feel pretty weak right now.. would you be so kind to-?"
"There we go." Y/n grumbled as Akane gave her the box, not even making the girl finish her sentence. The boy smirked before making his way to the table and getting his box.
"Let's go."
"Fine..."
"And what Aoi said earlier... The reaper is number six?"
"And what about number six?" Y/n popped her head out. Her brows furrowed when seeing the familiar ombré-haired girl standing on the stairs. "Ah, Nene-chan."
"Y/n-chan! Akane-kun!" Nene's eyes widened when seeing the two students emerge from the dark hallway. "Y/n-chan, I haven't seen you for the whole day!"
"I got some student council work to do." Y/n grumbled as she looked down at the box. "Not only that, but tons of students are getting themselves into trouble today..."
"I see." Nene's eyes sparkled as she looked at Akane. "Akane-kun-"
"My heart is already taken." Akane gave Nene a serious look as he raised his hand as a sign of disapproval. "Sorry."
Y/n sweat dropped. "I don't think that was what she was trying to say." Nene nodded in agreement as she looked at Akane with a disturbed look. "That's right!"
"So, Nene-chan—" Before the H/c-haired girl could continue her sentence, she stopped midway when hearing the familiar sound once again.
The sound of a flute echoed the dim hallway. Y/n looked over Nene's shoulder, where she assumed it was coming from. Though, there wasn't anything at all.
"Y/n-chan, do you also hear it?!" Nene shrieked. She then went closer to the girl and held her hand tightly, a fearful expression on her face as she scanned the hallway.
Akane's brows furrowed. "What is it?"
"We can hear a flute playing," Y/n stated as she watched the red head take off his glasses, which had the spell to make the boy unable to see supernaturals.
"But I don't see anything—?"
Akane spoke too soon.
After he said those words, a head with a hollow face gave them a smile as it floated from the floor.
Y/n scrunched her nose as she looked at it. What the heck is this thing? she thought while subtly pulling Nene behind her.
The supernatural then tilted his head, still staring at the three humans. Suddenly, it grew ten times the size he was earlier.
Y/n flinched as she looked up at it.
"What is that?"
Akane stepped infront of the girls as he looked at the monster with an annoyed expression plastered on his face.
"ℌ𝔢𝔯𝔢 𝔫𝔬𝔴... ℑ𝔱'𝔰 𝔟𝔢𝔢𝔫 𝔰𝔬 𝔩𝔬𝔫𝔤... 𝔖𝔱𝔬𝔪𝔞𝔠𝔥 𝔦𝔰 𝔢𝔪𝔭𝔱𝔶..."
"Y/n-chan?" Akane gave the girl his glasses. "Hold onto this for now, I need to take care of this guy."
"ℭ𝔬𝔪𝔢 𝔱𝔬 𝔪𝔶 𝔰𝔦𝔡𝔢 𝔫𝔬𝔴-"
The red head walked towards it. He then raised his leg, kicking the monster right on the face. The mask it wore cracked as it fell on the floor.
"Amazing!" Nene's eyes sparkled as she looked at Akane, whose attention was focused on the supernatural infront of them.
"This is exactly why I hate supernaturals," Akane spat while wiping away the remaining dirt. "They chase humans without thinking it through, not even knowing how inconvenient it is for us."
"Making pointless vessels..." Akane turned around as he walked pass the two girls. "Look, I'm all worn out now—"
"I-It's still moving?" Y/n breathed out as she watched the supernatural forming back to its original shape in ease. "Wait, Akane-kun..."
Y/n turned around.
She felt the box in her grip drop as she found her two friends standing across her—
—in that hands of the reaper.
Y/n's breath hitched before giving the apparition a sharp glare. "Number six," she called out. "Put those two down. Leave them out of whatever you're planning on doing."
"Hm?" The school mystery hummed. "Well, long time no see, number eight." He never let go of the two humans, instead, he watched as more apparition's crawling towards them.
"Number six!" Y/n exclaimed. She then thought it was time for her to get into action. Number six wasn't listening to her at all, he was more focused on what was surrounding them. This was the chance for Y/n to take Nene and Akane away from him.
But before she could even transform into her apparition form, number six dropped the two students and dashed behind Y/n, his huge hands holding the supernaturals tightly before crashing them to death.
My goodness, the power he holds. Y/b sweat dropped as she rushed towards her classmates. Nene seemed to be doing fine, fortunately, she wasn't unconscious. Akane, on the other hand, was another story.
Y/n pulled his arms up, trying to drag him away from the supernatural infront of them. It was at this moment when Y/n wanted strong arms and not her weak and frail ones. "Nene-chan, please help me-"
"You three seem delicious." Y/n nearly shrieked when hearing number six's voice echo through the hallway. He turned around, looking at them with bloodstains all over his cloth. "The students are having fun, even if I eat one or two of them here..."
He held Nene's chin. "No one will ever notice." The girl shrieked as she stepped away from the school mystery. "I would like to take number eight, but unfortunately, I've made a deal with number seven that I can't harm you."
Y/n flinched as she made eye contact with the reaper. "So close to death... You were suppose to be a wonderful sacrifice—"
He stopped talking. Y/n couldn't tell if this was good news or not. But seeing his gaze avert somewhere, she then realized what was gonna happen.
"Don't—!" Nene turned around, a terrified expression plastered on her face when seeing a certain blue head running towards them, not knowing the danger that lies ahead. "Aoi-chan, don't come here!"
Y/n then turned around with wide eyes when seeing the girl. "Aoi-chan!?"
"Nene-chan!" She ran towards them with a worried look. "You were gone for some time so I thought something might have happened... What's wrong?" Her gaze landed on the girl beside Nene. "Y/n-chan is here too..?"
"Aoi-chan, don't—"
"Akane-kun?" Aoi looked at the boy on the floor in shock. Y/n held up Akane with Nene and looked at the blue-haired girl. "Aoi-chan, don't come here!"
But their words fell on deaf ears. Aoi ran towards them with no hesitation. Only worry was in her eyes as she looked down at them. Y/n stood up, making eye contact with the reaper before running towards Aoi.
Though between number six and the girl, there was no doubt that he would win.
He dashed forward, appearing infront of Aoi like he just teleported. Y/n stopped running, a hand on her chest as she maintained her breaths, though she was in a state of panic.
"Could it be.." Number six looked down at the girl. "You're the one at that time, perhaps with you-"
"Don't—!" Y/n ears perked up as she looked at Akane. His eyes were glaring daggers towards the supernatural infront of Aoi. He held his stopwatch, which gave Y/n a sliver of hope. "Don't touch her, you bastard supernatural!"
Time stopped, but Y/n didn't. She looked at Akane, who stood up with a furious look on his face. He looked at Y/n. "Y/n-chan, help me take care of this bastard, won't you?"
"Hm." Y/n let out a small smile. "Of course."
Akane then kicked number six on the head, and as soon as the impact was landed, time resumed. Number six was thrown into a wall as Akane stood infront of Aoi protectively.
"What—?"
"Eh?" Number six flinched when noticing the girl, who stood behind him the entire time. "I guess I was really unnoticeable, huh?"
She placed her hands on the sides of his head, she let out a small smile as she tried to tamper his memories. But,
"I'm not foolish, number eight." Y/n's eyes widened as she felt herself getting thrown into a wall. Nene shrieked as she ran towards Y/n in worry. That's when Y/n felt the burning sensation on the back of her head.
Oh goodness, I'm bleeding aren't I? Y/n grimaced as Nene held her hand while checking her head in fear. Well, I definitely hate this.
"This mask also serves as a protection from the past Aimi-sans, don't you know that?" Number six scoffed as he went towards Akane, who was more focused on the fact that Aoi could see him.
He grabbed Akane's head before slamming it onto the ground harshly.
He then took Aoi into his arms, the girl tried pulling herself away, but it was no use. Compared to number six, she was much more smaller and lacked strength.
"I'm sorry." Y/n looked at number six. "Because the academy now seems strange... To restore its normality, this child is necessary."
"A.. Akane-kun.. Nene-chan..." Aoi paused and looked at the girl sitting on the ground. "Y-Y/n..chan..."
"Let go." Akane stood up, clenching his fist as he pulled his arm back, preparing to give number six a good punch. "Let go of her, you..."
Before the punch even landed, number six disappeared, leaving with a puff of smoke. "Please forgive me."
Y/n released a shaky breath as she stood up. Akane looked over his shoulder and checked on her. "You're heads bleeding, right?"
"Definitely."
"Yeah." He grumbled. "Stay in that form, if you transform back, you'll probably pass out."
"Yeah, no wonder why I didn't transform back yet."
Akane gave her a sharp look. He then walked towards the wall and punched it out of frustration. The wall literally cracked, and that scared Y/n.
"Damn it!"
"Chill." Y/n forced out a smile. "How about we get going and save Aoi-chan—"
"NO!" Both Nene and Akane looked at her and exclaimed in unison. Y/n flinched as she raised her hands up as a shield. "Wait, why?! Don't you wanna save Aoi-chan?!"
"Y/n-chan, this is dangerous!" Nene exclaimed as she held Y/n's hand tightly, trying to convince her. "We're dealing with a mystery we barely know about! And— Y/n-chan's life is—!"
"But what about Aoi—"
"We'll go and save her." Akane stepped in. "We'll come back in one piece with Ao-chan, so you stay here and wait. I swear to God, if you go and come with us."
"But—"
"No." Akane gave Y/n a sharp look. "That's final. Let's go, Yashiro-san."
Y/n glanced at Nene, who gave an apologetic look before rushing towards Akane, who was going to the other end of the hall, trying to make sure Y/n wouldn't see where they were headed.
And then, the girl snickered.
"Yeah, I guess I gotta go to Fox-san."
