Val is just so god damn pretty like.. ma'am, you're giving the readers heart attacks here.

Like the amount of comments I see saying that she should date them instead makes me chuckle a little bit because I didn't realize just how attractive I've made her personality and just her in general.

But I mean, if you really want me to I'll make a one-shot separate book for some Val x reader and Jaxon x reader if you guys want, it's up to you :)

Anyway, on with the story!

"Two birds on a wire"

Before they infiltrated the palace, Killua, Gon, Valentine, Zeus and Jaxon met up with the team.

'Everyone's here',Morel said once the five had dropped in and watched as the teenagers walked towards them.

'Have you guys heard from Palm yet?'

Pausing in what she was doing, Valentine turned towards the adults of the group and looked between them, wondering the same thing.

'No'

Looking down, Gon's eyes filled with sadness and a frown tugged down at his lips, causing Valentine's eyelids to lower slightly as she frowned.

'I see'

'We'll wait until half an hour before go time. I just wish that we knew what was in there, that could change things'

Observing the four teenagers, Knov noticed how calm they looked and narrowed his eyes, before slowly turning his attention towards the blonde girl.

A strange aura filled the air around her and there was a small smudge of darkness hiding behind the light in her eyes, but he couldn't quiet figure out if it was his imagination or if something was really brewing from within the young teenager, that was waiting to finally be released.

It was like she was having a constant battle for control but that string was slowly getting thinner and thinner.

But he couldn't worry about that right now.

They had bigger problems to think about.

They were all sitting in group, but Valentine was sitting a bit further from her friends and stared down at her hands, her jaw clenched.

Her beautiful eyes of the sun glowed iridescently and she could almost see the way the darkness ran through her veins, traveling throughout her body.

She knew that this journey was dangerous, not just because of the Chimera Ants but also the way her humanity was slipping further and further from her reach. Any day now she could snap and lose herself forever, injuring her friends and family along the way.

But that's what she feared most.

Even if her friends and brother were here to try and help her find her way to the light, there was still the possibility of her killing them.

Looking towards Valentine, a small frown pulled at Killua's lips and he slowly reached forward, grabbing her hand in his own.

His thumb gently rubbed at the back of her hand and his eyes glistened with worry, observing her intensely.

The way she stared off into the distance without even tightening her grip to hold his hand made him bite his bottom lip as he looked at her, anxiety clear within his eyes and on his face.

He could almost feel the malicious energy radiating off of her body in waves and he knew that the control she had was beginning to waver.

And that worried him.

It worried him that his girlfriend was struggling within her mind and there was nothing he could do to help her except be beside her, comforting her.

He hated it.

It made him feel useless. She was always there for him in his time of need, dragging him out of the darkest places he had been and yet, here she was needing him to do the same thing but he can't even help her.

He didn't know how he could.

She was always the one to come up with something during these times and give him the solution, but it was happening to her and she couldn't give him the answers he needed.

It was about finally time to enter the palace and everyone was preparing themselves, standing at the open door of the portal.

Staring at her clenched hand, Valentine allowed her Ren to cover her fist and she slowly looked up, her eyes hardening drastically.

But the change in her wasn't as noticeable as the change that had happened within Gon.

It was as if knowing that they were fighting to save Kite had flipped a switch within his mind and he was prepared for the consequences.

Six.

A slight gust of air blew through the opened door.

Five.

The strands of hair covering her cheeks softly flew in front of her eyes for a moment and the dark color of rust glowed brightly, her fists tightening.

Four.

The sound of feathers rustling filled the air as Zeus spread his wings and a low churr left his beak, his coal black eyes narrowing.

Three.

Two.

One.

Bursting through the door, the group ran out into the palace stairs and they were all quite surprised to see Youpi sitting on the steps, but Shoot rushed towards him without hesitation as Ikalgo ran towards the elevator; while Meleoron and Knuckle were invisible and were running up the stairs towards the Chimera Ant.

The ant seemed to react instantly as his skin stretched and bones popped as he changed form, his teeth growing sharp as he let out a growl, preparing to attack.

However, just as Shoot was about to attack, the ceiling bursted open and large chunks of rubble fell down towards them as arrows made of aura crashed through, destroying everything.

Recognizing the attack, Killua's lips parted and he looked up at the ceiling, his eyes slightly wide.

So his grandfather was here.

Moving out of the way of an arrow, Valentine's head snapped up as she was mid-jump and she noticed that Gon was still charging forward, her eyes widening.

Gon.

Rushing forward, the blonde haired girl continued on and soon, the others followed after her as they came to a realization.

A punch suddenly connected with Youpi's side and the ant was sent tumbling to the side slightly, causing everyone to perk up.

Knuckle and Meleoron were alive.

They four teenagers rushed past Youpi and continued up the stairway, they had to complete the plan.

An intense aura suddenly enveloped the entire building as Pitou's aura returned and Valentine shook slightly, her eyes widening for a moment.

Noticing their brief moment of hesitation, Youpi turned every single eye in their direction and attacked.

The stairs were destroyed and everyone was separated; but Jaxon made sure to jump away with his sister, the two staying together.

The two ran down a hallway and stuck to the plan, glancing towards one another as they sent each other a quick nod, their pace speeding up as they ran faster through the halls.

Footsteps were heading in their direction and before long, a small group of four chimera ants headed their way and as the two contract killers laid eyes on their targets, their golden eyes darkened into black abysses as they rushed forward.

A snap filled the air as Valentine appeared on one of the ants shoulders and was crouched down, her hands on either side of the chimera's head before she twisted them, pulling the ant's head off of it's body as blue blood splattered onto her face, coating her beautiful skin.

Watching as the other ant charged towards her with a battle cry, the young blonde flipped off of the ants body as she just barely dodged the attack and flipped above the other ant.

The momentum from the ant was so quick that he couldn't stop himself and could only watch as the girl's hand was placed on his head, the skin of her palms glowing as her hand began to heat up, a bright color illuminating from her hands.

The head of the ant exploded as she manipulated it's blood and more blood coated Valentine's skin as her dark eyes stared at the ant's corpse as they fell, landing on the ground.

Turning to make sure her brother was alright, her eyes glistened at the sight of his Nen ability.

Yellow lightning crackled around his body for a moment as the boy's hands were placed on the ant's shoulder to help him as he flipped over the ant's attack, placing himself on his shoulders; much like Valentine had done, before the lightning exploded out from his hands and coated the ant, electrocuting them as the hallway lit up with a crackling noise following.

The stray lightning had hit the other ants surrounding him and their bodies shook from the amount of electricity filling their bodies as their skin turned charred, falling to the ground once the attack had ended.

Landing on the ground, the two siblings ran towards one another and had small smiles on their faces as they raised their hands, smacking them together once they reached each other.

The teamwork they used when fighting together was definitely unmatched by anyone.

Making their way upstairs, the twins met up with Gon, Killua and Zeus.

They noticed Killua's grandfather and the Chairman were with one another, but who was in front of them shocked the group greatly; it was the king.

As the Chairman glanced towards them, he looked right at Gon and pointed behind him, letting him know something.

Pitou was in the very room that the three had just left and Valentine glanced towards Gon with a worried look in her eyes, watching as the once bright color of chocolate darkened significantly with emotion.

The Chimera Ant that had killed Kite was in that very room and a feeling of anxiety bloomed in Valentine's chest the longer she stared at Gon, tightly clenching her hands in fists as she frowned.

Noticing the boy's expression, Jaxon glanced towards his sister and noticed the worry in her eyes, his chest hurting.

Even though he hasn't known the two boys long, he was slowly beginning to enjoy their banters and was even starting to slowly consider them as friends; somewhat.

The darkness that she felt every time she killed was the same that Gon was feeling and she could feel as it radiated off of the green-haired boy in waves of hatred, causing her body to shiver slightly as goosebumps ran up her arms, her jaw clenching.

The gold and purple aura of a dragon appeared once more as it carried away the chairman, Killua's grandfather and the King, before they slowly disappeared from their view.

'Killua, Jaxon, Valentine. Pitou.. is right over there'

Hearing their names come from his lips, the three looked towards him and Zeus blanked in annoyance; once again he was forgotten to be mentioned.

Seeing this, Jaxon leaned towards the bird as he kept his attention on Gon.

'And you too, Zeus',The blonde haired boy muttered and watched as the hawk looked towards him, perking up with a cheerful churr.

'Let's go'

Jumping from the ledge, Gon headed towards Pitou's direction and the four friends stayed behind, looking towards one another with worry.

He was starting to act out in anger and that was going to make things dangerous if it continued.

Eventually though, they jumped from the edge and followed after Gon with Zeus flying close behind them, hurriedly flapping his wings to keep up.

Something dark was brewing deep within Gon's body and the twins understood it since it happens to them too, although they were quite concerned.

If Gon attacked out on the anger that was rapidly starting to consume his body and with how reckless he was acting with every single action so far, it was going to end quite badly in their favor and they wouldn't be able to reverse the damage that was caused for the world or themselves if the plan fails.

Or worse.

If someone gets killed in the crossfire.
