Once they had caught up to Gon, Valentine and Killua walked behind the boy.

'Hey, wait up Gon',The silverette called out,'Are you going to tell us what that was all about?'

Stopping in his tracks, Gon breathed out slightly and quickly turned towards the two with apologetic smiles.

'Sorry, Killua, Valentine. But I guess that I just couldn't take it anymore'

With a confused look on her face, Valentine blinked slowly and tilted her head to the side.

But why was he apologizing, there was no reason to.

'Okay, but we still don't get why you're apologizing',Killua stated.

Feeling a frown pull at his lips, Gon glanced towards Valentine and gestures towards her with a small sigh.

'Because, that means Valentine's going to be stuck with this spell for a while and it's all my fault'

Sighing slightly, the silverette glanced towards the blonde and seeing the unbothered look on her face that was paired with a bright smile, caused a smile of his own to form as he straightened up, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

"It's fine, Gon",Valentine reassured the boy,"I don't mind it. The spell isn't harmful to me, so I don't really care about it"

'See, there's nothing to worry about'

Even though he had said that, Killua knew that if someone had said that to him, he wouldn't listen and would only continue to worry about the blonde.

'But.. you guys are only playing this game because of me',Gon stated,'You're only here to help me find my dad'

Shaking her head, a small sigh left Valentine's lips and she stretched slightly, letting out a small hum.

They knew that there were going to be risks when they entered the game.

'So anyway, why'd you get so mad?',Killua questioned.

'It's because, they said mean stuff about Ging's game. How it's all based on killing and stealing cards. And I guess it really ticked me off. I want to do what Ging said to do and just enjoy the game',Gon stated,'When I first got here, I knew that it wouldn't be easy, but I wasn't afraid. Because I thought, well, I figured the players genuinely enjoyed the game, you know? People actually die here and the game, it's not scary. It's the players hurting each other, just to get some cards, that's the really scary part'

'Really? I think it makes sense'

Confused by the statement, Gon let out a small hum and looked up at the boy, a confused look on his face.

'You really mean that?'

'It's dangerous, but it's just meant for Hunters'

Not seeing the point, Gon furrowed his eyebrows together and looked towards Valentine, wanting her opinion on the matter.

But the girl had only looked away from his gaze and looked around, not wanting to get involved.

'Killing is wrong, sure, no argument on that part',Killua stated,'But what if two players each put forth a card and the one who wins the battle with defined rules gets to keep both?'

'Oh.. that's okay'

'See? When that guy casted that spell on Valentine and when those guys carry out their plan, they're only following the rules of the game'

Even though he hated that Valentine was the one that had gotten hit with the spell that was meant for him, but there was nothing he could do.

'But to be honest, it kind of feels like they're chickening out',Killua admitted,'Look, forget about them, alright? Let's just enjoy the game by ourselves'

Walking forward, Valentine and Killua walked by Gon and the blonde girl looked around, eyes of thunder look at everything with fascination.

'Killua.. thanks a lot'

Stopping in place, the silverette looked towards Gon in shock and his eyes widened.

'I'm glad you're here with me.. no.. I'm really glad, I met you in the first place'

Awing from where she was, Valentine smiled and looked between her friends, watching as Killua glanced towards her.

An embarrassed blush flushed across the silverette's face and he quickly looked away from the boy, looking down.

'Idiot! This is embarrassing!'

Chuckling slightly, the blonde watched as Killua began to walk off and she slowly followed after him, watching as Gon looked towards the silverette with confusion.

'No it's not! How can it be embarrassing if I really mean it?'

It was finally time for them to compete in the Rock-Paper-Scissors competition and Valentine was beaten a few rounds in the middle, which caused her to frown.

But it was now Killua vs Gon.

The silverette had beaten Gon and he had won the Sword of Truth.

Once the weapon had been placed on Killua's hands, a puff of smoke surrounded it and the sword was immediately turned into a card, causing him to blink in shock.

Now, they were currently walking down the road and Killua had just placed the sword in a specified slot in his binder.

'The problem is how are we going to protect the card?',Gon asked.

Hearing a rustling from beside them, the two turned towards Valentine and watched as she held up her dagger, causing Gon to blink in shock as his eyes widened.

This whole time she still had her daggers on her, but the question was, where had she hidden them?

Chuckling slightly, Killua lightly bumped his arm against Valentine's and the girl smiled, placing the dagger back into it's hiding spot.

Hearing someone running up from behind them, Valentine blinked in confusion and turned her head, her eyes narrowing at the man behind them.

Confused by her expression, the two boys turned towards where she was looking and seeing the man behind them, caused the two to furrow their eyebrows in confusion.

'Wait, you kids there. Hand over the Sword of Truth right now',The man stuttered,'Look, I don't wanna have to be rough. So just do what I tell you'

'No way, you idiot'

Turning around, the three went to walk away, but the man wasn't done and annoyance filled Valentine's veins.

'H-Hey, hold on! Book!'

Turning around, Gon and Valentine called out their books as well, the three narrowed their eyes as they stared at the man.

'You're bluffing, right? I already know that you just started playing the game a little while ago. You three are newbies, so you wouldn't have obtained any defensive spells yet except for the Sword of Truth'

Taking out a card, the man held it up and a small sigh left the blonde's lips.

Some people loved being difficult.

'This is Thief. This spell card lets you steal one random card from another players specified slots',The man explained,'Take this! Thief on, attack Killu-'

Before the man could even finish his sentence, a harsh and high-pitched ringing filled the air, before a sudden pain flared up the back of his leg as Valentine harshly kicked the back of his knee, watching as the man's legs buckled.

Snatching the card from his hand, Gon landed beside Valentine and the two stared at the man, watching as he looked towards them with a nervous look on his face.

'Haven't you trained at all, mister?',Gon questioned and then threw the card back to the man,'Nice try. But, I won't give it back next time'

As they walked by him, Valentine's leg shot out and she harshly kicked the man, causing him to quickly pull up his leg, holding it with an exclamation of pain; jumping around with pained cries.

'You must be an amateur',The silverette spoke up, holding back a chuckle and had a small smirk on his face as Valentine and Gon stood beside him once more,'This is a game for pro Hunters. I'm impressed that you even made it in. But at least we learned something; that an attack spell won't kick in until you finish the chant'

'Yeah, but a strategy like that only works on the weakest players'

Walking away from the man, Valentine walked alongside her friends and reached up, gently petting Zeus's head as she clicked her tongue.

A low chirp left Zeus's beak and he turned his body, his wings spreading out slightly, before he glided over towards Killua, landing on his shoulder; flapping his wings to steady himself.

Humming slightly, a confused look formed on Killua's face as he glanced at Zeus and then, turned towards Valentine, his eyebrows furrowed.

But, watching as she only smiled his way caused a small sigh to leave his lips and the silverette shrugged slightly.

Suddenly, another voice came from around the corner and the three turned around.

'Precisely'

Watching as a group of people came around the corner and surrounded them, eyes of thunder narrowed as a dark aura admitted from the blonde's body.

'If you want a card, you just take it from someone else. Only fools actually participate in tournaments. Understand, kids? If not, you will'

༺♥༻

The group had ended up taking the card, but not without some casualties since Valentine had attacked them before they could completely get away.

She was tempted to go after them and just finish them off, but Killua had stopped her before she could could do anything else.

'They really piss me off!'

Slamming his fist onto a stair, Gon seethed from beside the two and a small drop of sweat fell down the side of Zeus's head as he shifted atop of Killua's shoulder.

'Just forget it, those guys were obviously pros',Killua stated,'And it's not like they got away unscathed. But, at least they didn't use brute force'

'Damnit',Gon yelled,'Then I've really got to focus on building up my spell cards'

Standing up, Killua placed his hand on Valentine's head and she blinked in confusion at the random head pat, looking up at the boy with wide eyes as he continued to pat her head.

But she ultimately closed her eyes and smiled slightly, leaning into the touch.

'Besides, it was pretty cool watching Valentine try to get them back for you'

With his eyes shinning, Gon looked towards the girl and perked up as he smiled brightly, causing Valentine to open her eyes, looking towards him.

'You're right. The way you fought them was so cool, Valentine!'

Knowing that he was referring to her teleporting away from each hit before it could land, caused a small laugh to leave Valentine's lips as she closed her eyes and a nervous smile formed on her face as a small drop of sweat fell from the base of her temple.

It wasn't that cool.

'In that case, I say that we should head to Masadora; the City of Magic',Killua suggested.

Standing up, Gon nodded and looked between the two, before glancing at Zeus who was on Killua's shoulder.

It was strange seeing the hawk on someone who wasn't Valentine.

As they walked off, the three didn't realize that a blonde girl was watching them and she peeked around the corner, watching as they walked away.

As they exited the store, Valentine glanced back at the store for a moment and shrugged slightly.

She was fascinated by all of the cards in there, but they were there for something specific.

'Those four Gargaider cards netted us 120,000'

They had sold the Gargaider cards that they had and honestly, it was a pretty good idea.

'I know, they were pretty valuable',Gon stated and smiled as he looked between his friends,'We don't need to worry about money now'

Suddenly, a thought came into Gon's mind and his eyes brightened as he perked up, almost bouncing in excitement.

'Hey, why don't we buy some food and water, then we'll head to Masadora!',Gon exclaimed.

Thinking it over for a moment, Killua nodded and then, held up his pointer finger with a small smile on his lips.

Agreeing with the small plan, Valentine nodded and a bright smile formed on the young girl's face as she perked up.

Gazing at the two cards underneath glass casing, the four looked between each of them and tried to decide which one of the maps would be the best one to buy.

Because for they bought one and it didn't help them at all, then it would be a complete waste.

The map complete with information costed 650,000 and the completely blank map costed 20,000.

While it would've been cheaper to buy the blank map, Valentine figured that it would've been a wiser decision to choose the one already filled.

But alas, Gon had decided to get the blank one, since he figured that it would've been a lot more fun to just fill it up themselves.

Which caused the young girl to sigh dejectedly under her breath as she followed the two out of the store once they had bought the map.

The blank one that is.

'Gain'

A puff of smoke filled the air and a holographic map with a metal top appeared in Killua's hands as a steady blinking light shone on one of the blank spaces, showing them where they were.

With a wide eyed look, the silverette observed the blankness of the item and a small drop of sweat fell down the side of his temple as he stared at the blankness.

'Wow.. this doesn't tell us anything..'

Sighing slightly, Valentine placed her hands on her hips as she looked down at the ground and slowly shook her head, a frown on her lips.

This was why she suggested getting the full one because then, they'd at least know exactly where they were going.

With a blank map, it told nothing about where you were heading and you'd just have to figure it out by yourself.

And if you got lost, then you'd have to find a way back on your own.

'Then let's ask for directions'

Feeling herself deadpan, Valentine slowly turned towards the green-haired boy and blankly stared into his eyes.

Seeing the blank look on her face, a small drop of sweat slowly glided down the side of his face and Gon's eyes widened as he stared into her blank ones.

He knew what she wanted to say just by the annoyed look on her face.

"What was the point of getting the map if we were just going to ask for directions anyway?"

She had a point.

༺♥༻

Having asked for directions, a store employee had told them to head north for over eighty kilometers and after they had passed by the mountains, then they'd come upon a lake.

He told them that they wanted to follow it North and if they did just that, then they'd reach Masadora.

The man had even warned that that it was crawling with bandits and once they passed through the mountain, then they'd encounter hordes of monsters.

Hearing about that, Valentine's eyes brightened and she merely shrugged at the thought, heading towards the door which caused the man to look towards her with a look of exaggeration.

This little girl was trying to get herself killed.

But once the boy's had heard about it, they had gotten all excited and now, the game was beginning to sound like an RPG.

They had also wanted to see what the monsters looked like.

But right now, they had to catch up to Valentine before she left them in the dust.

Hurrying after her, the two boys had smiles of excitement on their faces and they each looked towards the blonde, seeing the small smile that was on her face as she looked between them.

'Alright then, let's move out!'

But just as they were about to leave, a small voice called out to them and blinking in confusion, the three turned around.

Seeing a blonde girl rushing towards them, a look of concern formed on Valentine's face and as soon as the girl had reached them, she walked towards her, gently placing her hand on her arm as she looked the girl over for any injuries.

Well, she wasn't injured which was good.

As soon as she had laid eyes on Valentine, the girl's eyes sparkled like freshly polished gems and her lips parted slightly.

She was adorable.

With a thankful look and a smile of gratitude, the girl looked towards the boys and clasped her hands together as she desperately looked between them and Valentine.

'Please, I'm begging you'

'For what?'

Taking her hand away, Valentine was confused as well, but was also concerned that the girl was in some sort of trouble and that worried look from before had only grown.

With an annoyed look on his face, Killua looked towards Valentine and sighed slightly, slowly shaking his head.

She was way too kind sometimes.

Clasping her hands together in a sort of begging way, a puppy-eyed look formed on the girl's face and Valentine's eyes softened, almost forming sparkles within them as she stared at the innocent girl in front of her.

'I'd really like to join you, if you don't mind'

With sparkles glistening in her eyes, Valentine looked towards the boys and looked up at them with a puppy-eyed look of her own; but not as begging as the girl's beside her.

It would be nice to travel around with another girl.

Looking between the two blondes, a small sigh left Killua's lips at the look on Valentine's face and he had almost agreed, but instead, shook his head as he held up his hand in a stop-like motion.

'No way, sorry'

Deflating with a small pout, Valentine looked away from the silverette and looked towards the blonde girl, watching as her eyebrow twitched in irritation.

A small gasp left the girl's lips and she clasped her hands together once more, leaning forward with her eyes glistening.

'May I ask, why not?'

'You'd slow us down'

As soon as those words had left the silverette's mouth, an irk mark appeared on the girl's face and a scowl formed on her lips as her eyes glared into the boy's soul as they widened slightly.

Gesturing his head to the side, Killua began to walk off and glancing back towards the blonde with a frown, Valentine turned around and followed after the two boys.

'Hey, hold it right there!',The girl screamed, before a small gasp left her lips and she quickly changed her tone,'I mean... Please! I'll try really hard not to get in your way. I promise!'
