THE ONLY THING SKYE KNEW WAS THAT growing up in the Saint Agnes orphanage had left her with a heavy, lingering sense of solemnity. She was never told who her parents were, or if they were the ones who had sent her there. The orphanage, cold and impersonal, had given her the name Mary Sue Poots, but the name never sat well with her. It always felt foreign, as though it didn’t belong to her. Every time she heard it, a sense of dissatisfaction would well up in her. It didn’t feel like a name she could grow into. So, over time, she adopted the name Skye. Skye felt more like the person she could be, the person she wanted to be.

Skye knew all about the Avengers—their rise to fame after the battle in New York in 2012, the world that suddenly found itself shaken by powerful beings who were anything but ordinary. She learned about them from the news, but there was also a part of her that admired their resilience. In 2013, when she had just turned eighteen, she left the orphanage behind. She didn’t have much—just the clothes on her back and a mind filled with questions. She wanted to know who her parents were, why they had sent her away. With that burning desire, she started her journey. She got a job as a hacktivist with Rising Tide, diving into the world of data manipulation and security breaches. It wasn’t long before she had caught the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D.

After hacking into their files, she thought she had finally found the answers she was looking for. But her actions got her captured, and Nick Fury persuaded her to join S.H.I.E.L.D. instead of facing severe consequences. It was then that she became part of something bigger, something that could help her understand the world and maybe, just maybe, her own place in it. But a mission gone wrong—one that left her shaken to her core—led to her transformation. She was granted the ability to manipulate matter and energy at a resonant frequency, a gift that she wasn’t sure she was ready for but one she had no choice but to learn to control.

" MISSION GONE WRONG „
SOMEWHERE IN A FOREST IN RUSSIA.

"Nat, I'm inside," Skye’s voice crackled through the comms as she held her gun up, her senses sharp and focused. Her feet moved with purpose, her steps careful as she moved further into the wreckage of the small S.H.I.E.L.D. facility in Russia. Skye had been in countless missions, but this one felt different. The atmosphere was thick, like something wasn’t quite right. Her eyes darted from shadow to shadow, searching for any sign of life, or better yet, any survivors. The facility had been hit hard, and their mission was simple: find anyone still alive and gather whatever intel they could. But the place felt like a graveyard, and Skye couldn't shake the sense that there was something more lurking beneath the surface.

"Skye, watch yourself. The place has been compromised," Natasha’s voice was steady, but there was an edge of caution in it. Natasha Romanoff, a seasoned agent and one of Skye’s most trusted allies, had been by her side through many missions, teaching her the art of stealth and survival. The two had become close over time, and while Skye had learned a lot from her, this mission still had her nerves on edge.

"Yeah, I can tell," Skye muttered, her eyes scanning the wreckage, taking in every small detail. "I’ve reached a door. It’s rusty. Looks like it hasn’t been touched in years."

As she reached the door, she pushed her shoulder against it, her gun raised, just in case. The metal was old, the paint chipped and peeling. The only light in the room came from a flickering overhead bulb. A faint smell of decay lingered in the air. She glanced down at the floor, her boots crunching over broken glass and debris. The faintest noise echoed in the silence.

She pushed the door open slowly, the rusted hinges groaning in protest. Beyond the door was a staircase, leading down into the unknown. The walls were cold and damp, and the further she looked, the more it seemed like she was descending into something much darker. She took a deep breath before muttering under her breath, "Well, not much of a choice, except going down the dark... creepy stairs. Let's just hope Ghostface doesn’t come and kill me from behind."

The words felt silly as soon as they left her mouth, but she chuckled quietly, the sound echoing through the empty room. Skye’s lightheartedness was a defense mechanism. She needed it, especially in situations like this.

"You know I can hear you, right?" Natasha’s voice cut through the comms, a smirk in her tone. "And what’s with you and the Scream movies, anyway? What's so special about them?"

Skye gasped in mock offense, even though Natasha couldn’t see it. "You wound me. Is that even a question?" she said, raising her voice slightly before lowering it again, the seriousness of the situation creeping in. She moved carefully down the stairs, her gun still held tightly in her hands. "The Scream movies are a legend. Just watch them and you’ll understand. They’re iconic. I'm shocked you haven’t seen them—especially since you’re older than me."

Natasha’s chuckle came through the earpiece, and Skye could almost picture her rolling her eyes. "So, you’re saying I’m too old?"

Skye’s lips curled into a teasing smile. "Maybe," she said, winking even though Natasha couldn’t see it. She reached the bottom of the stairs, her eyes narrowing as she took in the stone walls and the room before her. In the center stood a strange, glowing device. Skye’s breath caught in her throat as she studied it, feeling a sudden surge of unease.

"I just found a basement or something. There’s this... weird device. It looks like alien technology," she said, her voice steady, though her mind was racing. She had no idea what they had stumbled upon, but she knew it wasn’t good.

"Alien technology? What are they up to now?" Natasha asked, her voice laced with suspicion.

"I have no idea," Skye replied, her gaze fixed on the device, her instincts telling her something was off. "But if it’s alien, and if Hydra’s involved, that’s not good."

Before Skye could process further, the device activated, and her heart skipped a beat. The room was flooded with a blinding light, and the Terrigen crystals—those dangerous, powerful artifacts—began to release a mist. Skye ducked instinctively, but it was too late. The mist enveloped her, and her world shifted in an instant.

"What the hell?" She muttered, eyes wide as she looked around the room before her gaze returned to the crystals.

"Skye! What happened?" Natasha’s worried voice came through the comms.

"I… I don’t know. The device opened, and these blue crystals popped out. Then it released this mist," Skye rambled, panic creeping into her tone.

"Okay, stay where you are. I’m coming down," Natasha instructed. "Don’t move."

Suddenly, Skye felt a strange sensation spread from her feet, as though something was enveloping her. She looked down in shock to see a black goo-like substance cocooning her body. "Nat! I’m getting stuck in some cocoon!" She cried out, her breathing growing heavier as she struggled against the tightening grip of the cocoon.

"Skye! Sk..y, do.. y... co..y!" Natasha shouted, her voice breaking up as her comms crackled. Then, everything went silent.

Skye’s vision blurred, and soon, darkness overtook her as the cocoon completely enclosed her. Minutes passed, and Skye’s fingertips twitched slightly. Small cracks appeared in the black shell as it began to break apart. She unknowingly released an immense force, shattering the cocoon as it crumbled into pieces.

Gasping for air, Skye took in her surroundings, her mind still reeling from the sudden change. The room around her was shaking, rubble falling from the ceiling. She looked up, eyes wide in fear, just as a large piece of debris came crashing down toward her. Without thinking, she dove to the side, narrowly avoiding being crushed.

Looking to her left, Skye noticed the door was now open. She grabbed her gun from the floor, sprinted toward the exit, and heard a loud crash behind her. Glancing back, she saw the room collapsing in on itself. She hurried up the stairs, the tremors and chaos making her head throb painfully.

Finally, she reached the top, slamming the door behind her with a loud bang as the shaking ceased. "Jesus Christ. What the hell was that?" Skye muttered to herself, pressing a hand to her forehead in relief.

Moments later, Natasha rounded the corner, lowering her gun as their eyes met. "I thought I lost you in there for a few seconds," She said, clearly relieved. "Where did all that shaking come from?"

Skye averted her eyes, stammering out a response. "I... I don’t know," She replied quietly, her throat tight with anxiety.

Natasha watched her for a moment, her gaze softening at the distressed expression on Skye’s face. "Alright, let's get out of here. We need to report back to Fury." She stepped closer to Skye, looping her arm through hers, and together they left the ruined facility behind.

AFTER SKYE RETURNED FROM HER mission with Natasha, she headed straight to Nick Fury's office to recount everything that had happened. As soon as she finished explaining, Nick suggested she be put under quarantine as a precaution.

"Wait, what?" Skye asked, her brow furrowing in confusion as she stood before Nick in his office. She crossed her arms over her chest, a puzzled expression on her face. "Why do I have to be put under quarantine?"

Nick Fury let out a heavy sigh, clearly anticipating her question. He met her gaze, his expression serious. "For precautions."

But that wasn’t the whole truth. While Nick spoke, he knew Skye had undergone Terrigenesis in the basement and had developed superhuman abilities—abilities he still didn’t fully understand. He needed to figure out what she was capable of, and to do that, he needed her isolated.

Skye raised an eyebrow, her bafflement deepening. "What, you don’t trust me anymore?" The words stung more than she expected, indignation rising within her.

"It’s not about trust," Nick replied, his tone measured. "You came into contact with something unknown. For all we know, it could be a deadly disease." He knew he was bending the truth, but the real reason was more complicated: He needed to test her DNA, figure out what changes had occurred in her.

Skye exhaled sharply, pursing her lips as she processed his words. She knew, deep down, that Nick was right. She couldn’t put anyone in danger, not without understanding what had happened to her. With a reluctant nod, she agreed, her voice softening. "Alright."

SKYE LOOKED DOWN AT HER HANDS as she sat in the cell, the confusion of the basement still weighing heavily on her mind. What had happened down there? What were those crystals? Was I the cause of all that shaking? She pondered, absentmindedly fidgeting with her fingers. The sound of the door opening snapped her out of her thoughts, and she looked up to see Nick entering with a female doctor.

Nick let out a sigh and exchanged a glance with the doctor, who stood slightly behind him. He turned his gaze back to Skye, who stood up from the bed. "I have something very important to share with you, and you might want to listen closely," Nick began, his voice serious. "When you first joined S.H.I.E.L.D., I knew who you were. I knew who your parents were."

Skye's eyes widened in shock, her heart racing as Nick continued, "Your father is Calvin Zabo. As for your mother, she's an Inhuman gifted with the power of life force absorption after she went through Terrigenesis. Her name is Jiaying. As of now, their whereabouts are unknown, as your mother was believed to have been killed by Hydra."

Tears welled up in Skye's eyes as she listened, her head dropping in disbelief. "Your birth name..." Nick paused, allowing the weight of his words to settle in the air.

Skye snapped her head up, a tear sliding down her cheek. "Is Daisy Louise Johnson."

A sob caught in her throat, and she wiped away the tears streaming down her face. "You knew all about this?" Her voice was shaky, filled with raw anger. "You knew... this whole time! And you're telling me all of this now?!" She started shouting, the bitter taste of her words choking her as she stepped toward the glass of the cell.

Suddenly, the room began to shake, the light bulbs flickering wildly. Vials crashed to the ground, the impact shattering them instantly. Cracks appeared in the glass surrounding Skye as a sharp pain throbbed in her head. Nick and the doctor exchanged worried glances before Nick turned back to her, his voice urgent. "Skye! I need you to calm down now! If you don't, this room is going to collapse on all of us!"

A scream tore from her throat as the pain in her head intensified. She covered her head, doubling over as a lightbulb behind her shattered. The shaking eventually ceased, and Skye, now known as Daisy, slowly opened her eyes to the chaos around her.

All that could be heard was Daisy's labored breathing as she muttered, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I-I...I didn't mean to... How am I going to control this?" Her voice was distant, as she spoke to no one in particular before her eyes shifted to Nick and the doctor.

Before Nick could respond, the female doctor stepped forward with a gentle smile. "It's okay, there's no need to be afraid," She stated soothingly. "When you were in the basement, you came into contact with the Terrigen crystals. The crystals produce Terrigen Mist, which activates the genetic mutation, giving Inhumans their abilities." The doctor glanced down at the tablet she held, which displayed Daisy's post-Terrigenesis DNA.

"However, you're very lucky to have survived it. Terrigenesis can be deadly. The mist alters the DNA, and now, you’re what we call an Inhuman."

Daisy furrowed her brows, confused. "So, basically, some alien mist turned me into a walking natural disaster?"

"I wouldn't put it quite like that," Nick interjected, drawing Daisy’s attention. "You know the Avengers, right?" Daisy nodded, her curiosity piqued. "You could learn to control your powers with their help. I'll let you join them. They could use someone like you."

And so, that's exactly what Daisy did. She trained tirelessly with Natasha, mastering hand-to-hand combat, shooting various weapons, and honing her stealth skills. But controlling her powers remained a struggle—her abilities were tied to her heart rate, and every time it spiked, the environment around her would start shaking uncontrollably.

THE FEMALE INHUMAN WALKED THROUGH the new Avengers facility in New York, a place she never imagined herself being. Her nerves were on edge as she moved through the halls. She smoothed the fabric of her black suit, a design similar to Natasha’s, but with purple tints running through it.

As she passed several agents, some shot her disdainful looks, whispering among themselves. "It's the new recruit. I heard she's an Inhuman with the ability to manipulate vibrations. How can someone like her even be an Avenger?"

Daisy kept her eyes down, trying to ignore the murmurs, but another agent’s words reached her ears. "Oh, and I heard she can't even control her powers. I already know one day she’ll cause a disaster and kill us all." She shook her head, pushing away the negativity that swirled just around the corner, and took a sharp left turn, finally spotting the doors that led to the hangar.

Taking a deep breath, she opened the door to the area where the quinjets were stored. As soon as she entered, she saw Wanda, Vision, Sam, and Rhodey, all of them looking up at her when they heard the door open. "Hey," Daisy greeted them with a warm smile.

"Finally decided to leave your bed?" Sam teased, his eyes gleaming with humor as he chuckled after Daisy rolled her eyes.

"Ha ha, very funny," She responded with a sarcastic grin, before it softened as she walked toward Wanda with her arms outstretched. She pulled Wanda into a hug. "I'm so excited to finally join the team, especially to fight by your side."

The two women pulled apart, sharing a tender look. "How are you holding up?" Daisy asked gently, referring to Wanda’s loss of her twin brother, Pietro, during the battle against Ultron. Daisy had known about it; with her hacking skills, she often picked up more than she should have.

Wanda’s smile faded, her eyes clouding over with a distant sadness as she recalled the heart-wrenching memory of her brother dying from multiple bullet wounds. "As well as I can be," She replied softly.

A sorrowful expression crossed Daisy’s face. "I’m here for you, Wanda. Not just as an agent, but as a friend. A sister. If you ever need anything, just come to me. I want you to know you're not alone in this."

Tears welled in Wanda’s eyes as she gave Daisy a small, grateful smile. "Thank you," She whispered in gratitude.

Just then, the door opened again, and Steve and Natasha entered the hangar. All eyes turned to the two standing on a raised platform. It was time. It was time for Daisy to step up as an Avenger—no longer just an agent in training, no longer just a genius hacker, but a real Avenger, someone who would protect the world.

Steve’s gaze swept over the team, unwavering. "Avengers..." he began,

I hope you guys are as much excited as I am!! I already love the relationship between Daisy and Natasha and can't wait to show you guys more. Natasha is sort of like a mentor and sister to Daisy. Oh and a mother figure of course.
