"We're here."
I carefully removed the blindfold I was wearing, trying not to smudge any of my eyeliner, which took me eight tries to finally get perfect.
Sunhee opened the door of the car, and got out. I followed her.
We had gotten off right below a street light, so the light reflected from Sunhee's dress almost made me go blind again.
It was definitely attention-catching.
Everyone passing took a double take at Sunhee, because that's just how stunning she, and her dress, was.
I told the very same thing to Sunhee, who hit my arm before dragging me across the road.
"Or maybe, they're all looking at you," Sunhee said.
"Hm, I don't think so. Out of the two of us, your look is more attractive."
"Okay, before we get into the extremely annoying, 'you!' 'No, you!', argument, I'll just say that they're looking at both of us." Sunhee really knew how to end arguments.
She was the peacemaker of our pair, who was very cooperative and unproblematic.
I was the havoc-wrecking, whiny bitch.
Obviously, only in front of her. Everyone else knows the cooler, calmer side of me.
"We're just that dazzling, babe." I flipped my hair.
Sunhee laughed, before slightly flipping her own hair.
"Woah." I finally looked up at the building we were standing in front of.
It was a very fancy looking building, with just the right amount of neon lights on it.
Not too much to make it seem flashy and tacky, not too less to completely hide the building.
Just right, definitely enough to make an impression on me.
Nova, read the neon purple sign. It was a newly opened nightclub.
I had seen quite a few good reviews about it, and heard a lot about it. Which is why I just had to visit it myself to see what was all the hype about.
And I definitely understood. Everything about it seemed so clean, and posh, and was really inviting.
"This is gonna cost us a fortune." Sunhee had her mouth hung open, clearly impressed.
"I know," I looked back at the building, finding out that the glass was stained glass. "But it's fine. We deserve a treat, and a break. Let's pamper ourselves, Sunhee."
Sunhee nodded giggling.
"Let's go."
-
The interior of the bar was just as beautiful as it was outside, if not better.
The entire place had an intergalactic aesthetic to it.
It was lit up with loads of fairy lights, varying from shades of blues, purples, to blacks and whites, and even some pinks, which gave it a stellar look.
The fairy lights didn't entirely light up the area, but it just helped accentuate the mysterious galactic vibe.
"Oh. My. God." Sunhee took a full 360 turn to look around the entire area.
"It's so beautiful!" I gushed.
"I'm more of a flowery person, but this is undeniably beautiful," she said. I nodded.
We walked further in, the music beginning to become louder. I looked up and saw that there were two more levels above, and a dance floor in the basement.
The dance floor had an open roof, so people could look down and see it from where we were.
There was little to no light down in the dance floor, so everyone dancing, had switched on the flashlights of their phones.
From where we were standing, it looked like little stars were moving along to the beat of the music.
"Do you wanna go down there and join them?" I asked, raising my voice a bit.
Sunhee nodded excitedly. I laughed at her childishness.
"Let's go down after we have a few drinks, hm?" Truth to be told, I really wanted to get some alcohol into my system, just so I could get rid of all negativity which was hovering around my pitiful life.
If not forever, at least the drinks would temporarily give me happiness and blissfulness, something that's been missing in life recently.
-
After four shots of vodka, and sips of other drinks, Sunhee was completely and totally wasted.
"JaeJae!" Sunhee yelled, facing her right side, while I was sitting right beside her, on her left.
The music was particularly loud near the bars, and I was so grateful for that.
"Sunshine, I'm here," I pulled her cheek to face me. "Why're you so drunk?" I sighed.
I had drank a little too, enough to make me tipsy, fulfilling the purpose of why I was here, but not enough to make me lose my head and shout at air.
"It's been while since I've drank, my tolerance levels are low now," Sunhee pouted. "All because of that stupid Heemang!"
Sunhee got on her feet shakily. "Heemang! You no-good piece of shit stuck on a shark's ass!"
A few people around us began staring at her amusedly, and two even burst out laughing at her curse.
Motivated by the laughs, she continued, "Useless germ of a motherless llama's poop!"
Claps and laughs were heard around us.
"Sunshine, I know you hate him, but remember we're in a public place right now." My vision was blurring slightly. I blinked twice to clear the haziness in my eyes.
"So? As if anyone will know which motherfucker I'm talking about. The insect in our bathroom has more worth in this world than that son of a bitch!" Sunhee slurred.
People began hooting now, cheering her on, thinking that she was talking about her ex.
"Yes, queen! Know your worth, and don't cry over him, that shit wasn't worth it." Someone else shouted back, and many others nodded in agreement.
I mentally facepalmed myself.
This was all really cute and supportive, but they didn't even know what our problems were.
Forget Heemang, and not cry over him?
If only it were that easy. . .
A very sudden, and very unwelcome sharp sting in my abdomen made me gasp loudly.
My hand shot up to my abdomen, where the pain didn't seem to cease at all.
I usually didn't get period cramps, but when I did they were mild, which were manageable.
But the continuous stabbing and twisting in my uterus right now wasn't manageable.
In fact, it made me bend over and let out a pained cry. "Fuck."
"JaeJae! What happened to you?!" Sunhee noticed my agonised state, and rushed to hold my shoulders.
"Cramps," I muttered, still wincing.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry Sunhee, but I need to go back home right now." I stood up shakily, miraculously not falling off of my feet.
"What?"
"Look, I know that you really wanted to dance on the dance floor, and you've come outside after a long time, I don't wanna spoil this for you," I gathered all my belongings, putting the, back inside my purse. "Just. . . reach home safely, okay?"
I walked away from there, pushing past the crowd, regretting every single life decision of mine.
Fuck you, fuck me, fuck the world, fuck periods.
When I felt an arm grab my shoulder, I turned back, fully ready to chop their arms off.
Surprisingly, I was met with the sight of a still-drunk Sunhee. "I'm coming with you, let's go."
"What? Why? No, you really wanted to dance, so go dance! I don't wanna be the person who stops you from having fun." I gently pushed her away from me.
"No, there's no fun in dancing without you. I came here to have fun with you, but there's none of 'fun-with-you' if you aren't there," Sunhee said solemnly.
"So, I'm coming home with you."
I stood still, staring after Sunhee who was barely managing to push people out of her way and stay upright on her feet.
A few more unsuccessful attempts of standing on both her feet later, she realised that I wasn't following her.
She stomped towards me, almost falling on her face once, and shouted in my ear, "Are you coming or not?"
I shot a grateful and fond smile her way before helping her balance herself, and heading towards the exit of the bar.
Sunhee bumped into many other people, and kept apologising while giggling. I sighed. She's lost her mind.
I heard a very loud voice in front of us say, "Stop crying and whining like a baby, it doesn't suit you. Now, come with me, and forget about her!"
This was followed by the said man bumping so hard into me, that I temporarily lost my balance. Sunhee, who was holding onto my shoulder was on the ground, laughing like a maniac.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, lady! I wasn't seeing where I was going."
I helped Sunhee up, and turned back to see who had pushed me, and saw a worried face.
I didn't know if it was the lighting, or the fact that I was partly drunk, but I couldn't see his face clearly, although I did discern pink highlights on blonde hair.
"It's fine. Sunhee, get yourself together. I can't be dragging your ass all the time." I dismissed the blonde, shaking Sunhee.
The cramps were still hurting, and I wanted to do nothing but soak myself in burning hot water.
"Yes ma'am," Sunhee said, before face-planting into my back.
I turned back and realised that she had fainted.
"Oh, for heavens' sake!" I cursed under my breath, before literally dragging her out the door.
I shoved her inside the car, which was right where we left it, and got inside myself.
"What are you waiting for? Get going already!" I cried before hitting my back on the seat, eyes closing.
Stupid cramps.
