"That reminds me, he even let me take this!"
Sunhee's face froze upon seeing the daffodil Eunjae was holding.
The very same flower which was once upon a time the cause of her happiness, but brings her nothing but sadness now.
She delicately took the flower, not wanting to damage it.
"I told him that I have a friend who loves flowers, especially daffodils, so he let me take two from his bouquet."
Sunhee payed no heed to her friend's words, lost in her own world; lost in her past.
"Sunhee?" Eunjae called.
She gripped the flower in her hand a bit more tightly, her eyes disoriented.
"Are you okay?" Eunjae asked, gripping her friend's shoulders.
"Huh? Yeah, I'm okay. Just give me a couple minutes, I'll be back." Sunhee quickly turned around to go to their room.
Her vision was blurring, and her eyes were stinging from unshed tears.
Sunhee rushed into the bathroom, not bothering to lock the door to their room.
The last time Sunhee had cried, was two months ago, and she didn't even cry properly that time; she was watching a very sad movie, and teared up, but wiped them away, not letting them fall freely.
She didn't like to cry. Sunhee believed that people will make fun of her if she showed any sign of weakness in front of them.
But now, she's all alone. No one here to see her, judge her, or make fun of her.
Which is why she let them fall; she finally gave the trapped tears freedom.
She let out painful sobs, which she had been suppressing all this while.
Seven years.
It has been seven years since she last saw him.
Seven years since she had thought about him.
The very same person who she loved with all her heart.
Sunhee stared at the daffodil, but immediately looked away, the pretty flower reminding her of him.
He was a daffodil. Sunhee's favourite flower.
He was Sunhee's favourite flower.
Sunhee carefully sniffed the flower in her hand. The aroma of it unlocked memories of her past.
Beautiful memories, which hurt to think about now.
Running in a field full of flowers, the intoxicating smell of flowers mixed with his cologne. She felt him grabbing her hand, and pulled her back, crashing his lips on Sunhee's own.
That was the very first time they had kissed.
Little did she know, it would also be the last time they had kissed.
Sunhee sobbed harder at that.
'Is he still waiting for me?' She thought to herself.
'Does he even remember me anymore? All the times we had walked in the garden?'
The tears stopped, and the sobs became hiccups. Sunhee felt more free now, for some reason.
She had finally cried her heart out, and let all the emotions that she had been burying, out.
In the movies that she had seen, a friend suddenly appears and hugs the crying person, knowing why they cried, and comforting them.
However, there was no one to comfort her.
But Sunhee didn't mind; she had herself, and that was more than enough. She had gone through a lot of things, and survived them all on her own. She was her own protector.
Sunhee didn't want anyone's sympathy, nor did she want to rely on someone, telling them all her secrets.
No, her past stays in the past, stays with her, and no one else.
Sunhee washed her face, her eyes now slightly swollen. She went back out, and sat on the bed, staring at the daffodil.
Looking at it did hurt her, but in a way, it comforted her too. It reminded her of all the good times she had made with her closest friend, who was also her crush.
He was a tall guy, with a handsome face. He was literally the most perfect person Sunhee had ever seen, and she still stands by it.
Till now, she hasn't found anyone who could match his beauty.
Sunhee looked up when she heard the room's door open, and saw her roommate enter.
She scanned Eunjae's face, clearly detecting devastation and sadness.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
Eunjae smiled widely. "Yes, I'm fine. Are you okay, though?"
"Yeah, everything's okay. No need to worry." Sunhee smiled back, genuinely meaning her words.
"I was thinking, we should go out and chill together." Eunjae twisted her shoulders.
"Yes, we should! Some bonding time, you know?"
"Let's go to a club!"
"When? Now?" Sunhee asked, standing up. Her roommate smirked.
"Right now."

"Sunshine, you're ready?" I called out, wearing my black boots.
The sun was setting, painting the sky with hues of pink and white one last time before darkness took over.
Sunhee had some work to do the whole day, which is why we postponed the outing till evening. I spent my day watching Netflix and eating junk, mainly chocolates.
"All ready, JaeJae." Sunhee walked out of the bathroom, fixing the flying strands of her hair.
The two of us have various nicknames for each other, some of which don't even make sense, but these were our favourites.
Sunhee really is my sunshine, the only person who makes me happy when I'm sad, the light guiding me, pushing all the darkness away.
In fact, she looked so stunning, that I had to avert my eyes, before I turn blind. Literally.
"Oh, wow. You really took 'sunshine' on a whole other level." I blinked my eyes at her golden sequinned dress.
"I mean, I've got a title to live up to now, don't I?" She joked, adjusting her dress once again. "Is it okay though? Not overboard right?"
"You look hotter than the sun!" I fanned myself.
Sunhee hit my arms playfully. I laughed.
"Chill babe, you look gorgeous." I assured.
"So do you." She nudged my arm, looking up and down my outfit, a simple black dress, which stuck to my body in a nice way, paired with ankle-length boots.
I smiled.
"Shall we?" We linked our arms and made our way towards the reception hall.
"Going somewhere fancy, I presume," The receptionist, Minsoo, commented staring at our outfits. "Where is it this time?"
"To a club. You know, for a girl's night out. Could you book us a ride, by the way? Since, you know, we're not supposed to know where we live," Sunhee said pointedly.
"Your ride will be here in five minutes. You can make yourselves comfortable on the sofas. You know, this is your home." Minsoo copied Sunhee's tone, who just rolled her eyes.
"Let's not spoil our mood sunshine, the night has just started." I pulled her cheeks, earning me soft giggles from her.
"Also, Eunjae. I don't know if you forgot, but you have a health check up tomorrow. Nothing big, just to make sure that your health is in good condition and nothing is out of ordinary." Minsoo leaned back on her chair.
"Oh, yeah." I had totally forgotten about my health checkups. They were held once in two months to make sure that my job didn't leave any unwanted traces behind.
I remember one time when I had accidentally gotten pregnant with a client's child.
We took precautions, but that person was. . . a violent one, who wasn't satisfied with just two rounds.
Thankfully, my checkup was the following week, so I got to know that I was pregnant quite early. The management had contacted the guy, letting him know about what happened, but he just cut the call and blocked all the contacts, and even went as far as shifting houses, because he was a coward, and didn't want to pay extra money.
I was disgusted by his behaviour and didn't feel much remorse aborting his child.
I mean, I know it was my child as well, but I didn't want that coward sicko to be the father of my child.
Just thinking about him made me shiver in disgust.
"Is it really necessary though, Minsoo? I mean, I'm on my period, so I'm definitely not pregnant." I joked, patting my tummy.
"Eunjae dear, this checkup isn't only for your maternal health, but also for your health in general. Every woman here is pretty important to the company, so their health is always first." Minsoo smiled sadly.
"Fine. But please tell them that poking needles inside of me isn't always necessary. It hurts so much!" I held my arm where they always poked needles in to take samples of my blood.
"I'll pass on the message." Minsoo laughed.
A car honked outside.
"And that's our cue to leave," Sunhee said.
I smiled, wrapping my arm around her waist.
"Let's go sunshine, the night is all ours."
