A Dying Planet
I'd like to give a big shoutout to ironboybooks and ThatEhhGuy for helping me out with this book. This story wouldn't be the way it is if it weren't for them helping me out big time. They really helped with putting the pieces together so go show them some love.
Krypton, an advanced society who had always treasured peace and prosperity, was the middle of a civil war. The Council, the great leaders of the planet, forsaken their people and lead to them collapse. An economic downturn, a planet rupturing from the inside, it was only a matter of time before people knew the truth, that the planet would not last much longer. It was only by the light of the Swords of Rao, a group dedicated to bettering Krypton, could the people of the planet be lead to glory.
Major (Y/N) Zod stood on a platform, looking up and seeing more drop ships coming into position. Troops from across the many guilds had rallied together, to overthrow the Council. (Y/N) breathed in heavily through his nose, looking his see his father, General Dru-Zod step forward followed by his own troops. Many bowed and knelt in presence of Dru-Zod, with (Y/N) placing a hand on his shoulder leaning his head down. All troops wore the symbol of the house they either served or belonged to, with many choosing to wear the sigil of House Zod out of respect. As the senior Zod passed the troops, they all rose in attention.
"Major" Dru said as he approached his son, with the younger rising and looking up at his father. "Good to see you decided to join the winning side" he smiled, placing a hand on (Y/N)'s shoulder. "What I do, I do for you, and all of Krypton" he said with a sincere smile turning to move his troops and cannons into position. (Y/N) was the son of the great General Zod, being 19 cycles old, he was quickly moving up the ranks of the military guild, as his father did before him.
(Y/N) looked on, as Council guards moved to halt the Swords of Rao only to be gunned down. Fear overtaking the young Kryptonian, he didn't believe in this tactic, their head to be another way. But (Y/N) trusted his father, he trusted his guidance.
"Into position" (Y/N) ordered the troops, as a ship moved overhead just above the door. General Zod had his trusted commanders, the warrior Faora and the behemoth that was Nam-ek by his side. Surrounded by dozen of troops, then suddenly, the weapons of the drop ship sprung to life. A flurry of blue energy erupted from the main cannons, blasting a hole clear through the thick metal door as the troops moved in to secure the area. The commanders and Major moved in, many blasts firing around them. Smoke was everywhere, although the well trained troops hit their mark against. For being the leaders of Krypton, the Council were not that well defended. A final blast ringing out from the side arm of (Y/N), as everyone moved into the Council chambers.
All 5 Council members were seated atop their golden thrones, with one man trying to reason with them, Jor-El. A lead scientist, friend to General Zod, and a figure of hope for (Y/N) and all of Krypton.
"This Council, has been disabled" the General called out, starring down Jor-El with daggers.
"On whose authority?" one of the Council members asked standing up from her steat in defiance. Looking to her other members to join her, but none did.
"Mine" General Zod answered, firing a single shot from his rifle which the Council directly in the chest. The Council woman fell back in her seat, slumped over dead, a big heat mark on her golden armour. "The rest of you will be tried and punished accordingly" he added, looking to Faora and (Y/N) nodding. While (Y/N) remained still, fear consuming him as he looked to the dead council member, Faora and her troops moved to arrest the other Council members, with (Y/N) turning to the argument between his father and Jor-El.
"What're you doing, Zod?" Jor asked as he marched up to the General. "This is madness" he declared.
"What I should have done years ago" Dru responded as more of the troops flooded in. "These lawmakers, with their endless debates. Have lead to Krypton to ruin!" he exclaimed, as Faora moved to arrest a Council member. The member falling to the ground and his headwear falling as well, scurrying out of fear with a weapon pointed to his head.
"And if your forces prevail?" Jor asked trying to reason with the military leader. "You'll be the leader of nothing" Jor-El begged as Dru came closer, placing a hand on Jor-El's shoulder.
"Then join me, help me save our race. We'll start anew" Dru then looked to the Council being arrested. "We'll sever the degenerative bloodlines that lead us to this state" he then looked to his son. "A brighter future, for all Kryptonians".
"And who will decide which bloodlines survive Zod?" Jor-El then finally looked the General in the eyes. "You? Will you ensure that only houses you and your boy can control will survive?" Jor called out, this time to (Y/N), almost for assistance.
"Don't do this El" Zod tried to explain. "The last thing I want is for us to be enemies".
"Our houses have stood by each other's side for a millennia Jor-El" (Y/N) spoke up finally, getting the attention of his two elders. "Please don't let this be the thing that drives them apart" although (Y/N) looked to his father. Trying to reason with both men, trying to stop this before they went any further.
"Your father" Jor-El spoke up. "Has abandoned the Principles that bound us together" he insulted causing the General's face to fall in disappointment and disgust. "He's taken up the sword against his own people. I will honour the man you once were Zod not this monster you've let yourself become" Jor-El finished taking a step back.
(Y/N) watched his father's face fall, sadness overtaking it as he looked down. "Major" Dru called out to his son. "Take him away" he ordered as General Zod turned around to the door they came from.
"You two" (Y/N) spoke up pointing at two soldiers who stood at attention. "With me" he ordered as the two went behind Jor-El, as (Y/N) led the way through the Council building. (Y/N) lead the two guards and Jor-El through the many corridors, opening to find a small outside landing pad where a ship could be called. However the four were stopped, as in front of them lay a service bot, more specifically one that belonged to Jor-El.
"Sir?" a female voice emanated from the robot. "Is everything all right?" it inquired.
"Out of the way!" one of the guards ordered to the bot, creating a groan from (Y/N) who decided to take the lead.
"We are escorting this prisoner on the authority of General Dru-Zod. Move side, or you will be-" (Y/N) was cut off as the robot created a massive shining blue light which blinded all of the warriors, with Jor-El acting. Jor flung his head back into a blinded guard, knocking him to the ground. The other guard then raised his rifle, Jor-El however grabbed the barrel of the rifle with his left hand and pushed it upwards just as a blast was fired from it. Using his right hand, Jor-El then hit the guard in the gut, then another quick blow to the face. Knocking him down and out cold.
Just as Jor-El thought he was ready to take on (Y/N), the first guard raised his rifle at the stunned scientist. Right before the guard could fire however, a shot rang out, and hit the guard in the head killing him. Jor-El looked to see it was (Y/N), who fired a blast from his pistol and looked at the elder Kryptonian with a saddened look.
"Why did you do that?" Jor asked, stunned at (Y/N)'s willingness to kill his own troops.
"Jor-El" (Y/N) started, his eyes fixated on the corpse. "You are one the brightest minds Krypton has ever produced, if you know of a way to save our people. Then do it" (Y/N) said as he held back tears. He just committed treason against his father, but if Zod and El could work together there could be a chance.
"Get me Lara" Jor ordered to the robot, who's face began to morph. "I'm sorry (Y/N) but there is no hope for your father" Jor-El stated as the face of his wife appeared on the bot.
"I shall follow my father, he has not let us astray yet. But your house must live on Jor-El. There is still a chance for you to join us, ensure that Krypton can be saved and live on" (Y/N) said as Lara's face finally materialised.
"Jor" Lara said with worry.
"Lara, you have to ready the launch. I'll be with you as soon as I can" Jor said with sorrow as Lara nodded.
Before Jor could leave (Y/N) grabbed hold of his armoured wrist. "Launch? What are you planning Jor-El?" asked, unsure now if he made the right call.
"I know you wish to save our people (Y/N), unfortunately we cannot save what we have" Jor-El said as (Y/N) felt a rifle poke at his stomach. "Only preserve it" then (Y/N) felt a pain spike up his body, his eyes grew heavy as his whole body collapse to the floor. "I am sorry" he heard Jor-El speak as (Y/N) fell unconscious.
Minutes later (Y/N) felt his body shoot awake, he was surrounded by troops and his father who helped him to his feet. "My son" he solemnly spoke as Dru captured his son in a hug. "You live" e whispered with a smile.
"Fath-General" he corrected himself knowing they were among troops. "Jor-El escaped, he ambushed us with his service bot and is preparing something" (Y/N) tried to warn, following Dru who was marching towards the nearest landing platform. "Jor-El is truly lost, he speaks of not saving Krypton and-" the door opened to many ships waiting for them. (Y/N) looked down at his armour to see no scorch mark, as Jor-El shot him with a stun blast.
"We are already aware" Dru said as a dropship landed in front of them. "Jor-El has taken the Codex, and we've tracked him to his poor planetary observatory" Zod spat as he stepped onto the ship with (Y/N) and Faora following.
The Codex was the literal life of all Kryptonians. Containing ancient genetic information, it could predict the offspring between two compatible mates, and what their child will become. It is what every Kryptonian is bound by, their carrier, personality and body is predicted by the Codex itself. And Jor-El had stolen it for his own personal needs.
The dropship flew at full power, surrounded by an escort of smaller, fighter crafts. Both Zods looked on and saw the building Jor-El had fled to, a tall building which had been sealed shut.
"Concentrate fire on the main doors" General Zod ordered as the fighters all flew around the landing platform. Many weapons springing to life, all firing on one, singular point which was loosing strength. As the dropship landed, the door gave way and a massive hole was created small enough to enter. "Hold this platform Commander" the General ordered to Faora. "Major with me" he told his son, who walked behind his father with two escort troops. Soon the Zods entered the main room, with what seemed to be a cobbled together ship of some kind. With the symbol of El at its front. Jor-El stood waiting for them, armoured up and taking a stand.
"You stole the great Codex Jor-El" (Y/N) barked with anger and pointing his finger. "Surrender it immediately" he added flooded with rage. As he looked however, his father gave him a look to stand down, and almost disappointment was on his face.
"This is a second chance for all of Krypton, not just the bloodlines you deem worthy" Jor-El spoke looking at the elder Zod who stepped forward.
"What have you done?" Dru asked, almost confused.
"We've had a child Zod" Jor spoke with pride. "Krypton's first natural birth in centuries and he will be free. Free to forge his own destiny" he continued in a peaceful manner.
"Heresy" Zod spoke with rage. Natural births were unheard of, everyone went through the Codex, everyone had an assigned post, but this child wouldn't. "Destroy it" the General ordered to the Major and the two soldiers. Before they could fire, Jor-El raised his weapon and fired three shots. Two of the shots killed the soldiers while he third hit (Y/N) in the shoulder. Pain soaring throughout his body as he leant against the wall for support.
Both Jor-El and Dru-Zod then engage in hand to hand combat. With striking equal blows with Jor managing to strike Dru across the face scarring him. (Y/N) breathed heavily as the sounds turned into echoes through his mind, his sight fading and getting blurry as he put pressure on his bleeding wound. He tried to muster his strength, tried to find a weapon but his body would not let him. A shock went through his system, as he was barley able to see the pod slowly rise off the ground. (Y/N) blinked hard, maintaining a grip on life as his senses returned to him. Seeing that his father had stabbed Jor-El, killing him much to Lara's dismay who cradled his corpse.
"(Y/N)" Dru called out, placing his sons arm over his shoulders and dragging him out of the chamber towards their ships who all observed the pod leaving the planet. "Come my son, you shall live, unlike the son of Jor-El" he added as they reached outside and medics came over to inspect the injured major, spraying the wound with equipment. "Bring that ship down" Dru ordered, not caring anymore to the state of his son, only to the future of their people. One of the fighter ships flew upward and activated the weapons.
The turrets locked on, before the ship could fired however, it was blown up. Many of the other fighters were then brought down, as ships and crafts loyal to the Council flew all around and surrounded the Swords of Rao. They could only view, as the pod containing the child of Jor-El and the Codex, vanished into light speed.
"Lay down your weapons" a voice from one of the many enemy ships called out. "Your forces are surrounded" everyone complied. General Zod looked down, knowing that his attempt to save the planet had failed.
(Days Later)
The remaining remnants of the Swords of Rao were all gathered together on a spire, awaiting to be sentenced. What remained of Krypton's leadership looked on, as a prison ship slowly brought itself down and awaited its prisoners.
The ship was used to sent people to cursed space where time had no meaning, the Phantom Zone. The ship was known as;
Black Zero
"General Zod" one of the alive council members started. "For the crimes of murder, and high treason. The council has sentenced you and your fellow insurgents to three hundred cycles of somatic reconditioning. Do you have any last words?" he asked.
"YOU WON'T KILL US YOURSELF! YOU WOULDN'T SULLY YOUR HANDS. BUT YOU'LL DAMN US TO A BLACK HOLE FOR ETERNITY!" he yelled spitting in their direction as guards escorted Dru-Zod back in place. "Jor-El was right, YOU'RE A PACK OF FOOLS, EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU!"
(Y/N) looked down at he saw the stasis freezing chamber slowly start to activate as his father threatened Lara-El. "What I did" he whispered to himself. "I did it for I believed in my father, I believed in Krypton" he finished as his father was pushed on the stasis platform.
"I WILL FIND HIM!" Dru roared, threatening the baby El lost in the stars.
(Y/N) held in his groans of pain as the liquid belt spread out and covered his body. The last thing the young soldier ever saw was the Council looking on.
The Black Zero then flew up into the orbit of Krypton, where it was transported into the Phantom Zone. And (Y/N), his father, and the Swords of Rao were tutored beyond belief. Minds tormented and twisted, trapped in memories and nightmares that seemed never ending.
Until (Y/N) didn't know what happened, by these nightmares, simply disappeared. And he was trapped in an endless slumber.
