F1 Car #13 has a crash during the first round of the Canadian Grand Prix Qualifying and goes off the track! Repairs couldn't be done in time and Y/n DE ANGELIS placed 17th on the grid, losing her chance to enter Q2 and Q3. The driver has started her first official F1 Grand Prix weekend yesterday, and things aren't looking good so far. Meanwhile, teammate Max Verstappen grabs second place with a 0.000 second gap from pole holder George Russell!

[Extract from interview with Y/n De Angelis]

Interviewer: "(Y/n), thanks for taking the time to speak with us after a challenging qualifying session here in Canada. P17 today, but it wasn't your fault, right? Can you walk us through what happened?"

Y/N: "Yeah, it's definitely been a bit of a frustrating day. We just couldn't quite find the sweet spot with the car, and it felt like I was pushing as hard as I could, but we were just a bit off. I had a solid lap, but the traffic really messed with the flow, and that kind of sealed the deal for us. But it's all part of the learning curve, especially since this is my first proper race weekend."

Interviewer: "Absolutely, it's not an easy situation to be in. Now, you're coming off your debut at Monaco, filling in for Sergio Perez. This is your first official race in F1, though, so how's it been adjusting to all of this?"

Y/N: laughs "It's been a wild ride, to say the least! Monaco was a crazy experience, stepping in like that, but it definitely gave me a taste of what it's like at the highest level. Now that I'm here for my first official race weekend, I'm just trying to take it all in and focus on doing the best I can. It's kind of surreal, honestly. One minute I'm racing in F2, and the next I'm standing on the grid with guys like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. It's like, 'How did I get here?'"

Interviewer: "It must feel pretty incredible, though. What's been the biggest challenge for you as a rookie so far?"

Y/N: "Honestly, the biggest challenge has just been learning everything on the fly. The car, the team, the media, the travel; there's so much going on. And then trying to find that balance on track, too. One lap you feel like a hero, the next you're fighting the car and thinking, 'What happened?' It's a constant learning process, and it's a lot to take in. But I'm handling it as best I can."

Interviewer: "You seem to be handling it pretty well! Now, your first race weekend and first qualifying session, what's been the highlight for you so far?"

Y/N: grins "You know, I haven't had that 'first points finish' moment yet, but I think every lap I get to complete is a highlight. There's something pretty special about getting the chance to race at this level. But there's also a funny moment that stands out, I met Christian [Horner] for the first time. I walked up to him all nervous like, 'Hey, I'm the rookie.' And he just looks at me and goes, 'I know, we signed you!' So yeah, that definitely reminded me I'm the new driver here!" laughs

Interviewer: laughs "That's awesome, it sounds like you've got a good sense of humor about all of this! With everything going on, how do you stay relaxed during these intense moments?"

Y/N: "I think the key is just remembering that it's racing at the end of the day. Of course, there's a lot of pressure, but I try not to let it mess with my head. I joke around with the team to keep things light, if we're not laughing a little, I think we'd all go crazy! But when it's time to go, it's business. You have to switch into race mode, and then it's all about doing the job."

Interviewer: "That's a great mindset to have. As the season moves forward, what are you most excited about?"

Y/N: "Honestly, I'm excited to keep learning and improving every race. Every weekend gives me a new opportunity to get better, and I'm really looking forward to that. Some of the upcoming tracks should be more suited to our car, so I'm hoping we can show some progress. And, of course, I'm just pumped to be part of the F1 family. There's still so much to learn, but I'm ready for it."

Interviewer: "I'm sure your fans are looking forward to seeing you grow throughout the season as well. Before we wrap up, any final words for them?"

Y/N: "Just a massive thank you to everyone who's been supporting me. I know today wasn't what we wanted, but we're not giving up. We're going to keep pushing hard, and I'm excited to show everyone what we can do. The journey's just started, and I can't wait to keep going with all the support I've been getting."

Interviewer: "We're all rooting for you, (Y/n)! Best of luck tomorrow."

Y/N: "Thanks so much! I'll give it my all, and we'll make sure to give the fans a good race to watch!" smiles and waves
