𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗧 few months had been nothing short of unusually, usual. High school was no longer new as it was your second year and the seasons shifted into summer as it did every year. Everything was the exact same as it had been since as far back as you can remember.
But it seemed like only you were affected by the fact that you weren't exactly kids anymore..it looked like you were alone in the things you were feeling.
Driving out to the campgrounds, that were only free because tabitos family befriended the owners──with the sole intention on staying for free──your phone kept blowing up in your back pocket as otoya and karasu texted. Karasu drove out with his family and otoya sat shotgun in your passenger seat.
"He says he wants you to keep his feet warm tonight." Eita elbowed you lightly. "Oh and that he calls hawk to sleep...with this time. Hold on I thought I got hawk this time?" He begins fastly typing away angrily on his phone, determined to have hawk sleep on his side of the tent this year.
Finally pulling up to the campgrounds you're met with karasu attempting to set up the tent, his parents most likely having gave up with his controlling 'tent talk.' Hopping out of the car, your immediately ordered around. "Grab the other side!" He huffed and dropped the pole completely when you didn't move fast enough. Apparently.
"Not even a hello?" You say sarcastically.
"It's hottt!" He whined and tried his best to be patient as you grabbed the other side. "We're so getting in the lake after this bullshit or I'm gonna lose it."
"Bro remember when your mom and dad were doing the bangchikawang in the rv last time?" Otoya smirks, looking to the small rv where the parents both slept.
"Remember when you used to help set up?" If tabito didn't want to ruin all his progress, he would have picked the tent up and threw it at him. "Grab the corner and help or I'm not letting you sleep on the air mattress with us." Otoya sighed, ripping off his jacket to deal with some of the heat and grabbing onto the end.
"Someone's in a mood." Your white haired friend grumbled towards you with a shit eating grin. "He was much nicer over text.."
"Yeah well, I was in an air conditioned car! It's hot out here! Can we just get this over with?" Karasu rarely had outbursts but he definitely did have his moments. Most of the time it was playful anger but still, he did have his times when it wasn't his usual.
After all everyone did. But most of his moments were in the heat..when he was hot. Obviously. Once the tent was fully set up you had to move onto blowing up the air mattress. You always excuse yourself from this part, instead of helping━━or more like not having to argue about who was doing what wrong.
At first karasu made otoya use the air pump, but he 'moved to slow' to his liking and took over. Grumbling about how he has to do everything himself. You all slept on the air mattress that took up nearly all of the tent that you set your three sleeping bags on. If you were gonna go camping why not do it at least semi comfortably?

After several complaints and arguments later, you were finally all done. Now the only thing left was to cool (karasu) off. Hiking up the trail to the lake, tabito kept ahead of you two──overly eager to get to the cliff. It was never your most favorite part of the trip, as there was reasons it was jump at your own risk.
But your two friends didn't seem to have a problem with it, seeing as the three of you hadn't gotten hurt. Therefore you'd never back down from it.
Upon reaching the cliff, you all ready yourselves to jump. It wasn't to high of a jump but it was about seven meters--give or take. A bit to rocky in some parts, as that was the main reason that whatever happened is your own responsibility.
Seeing the rocks that piled at the bottom of the jump was always the worst part. It never got easier. Karasu always noticed that slight hint of fear you held for this part. Otoya being the person he is, didn't but picked up on the fact that his friend would always look at you right when you were all on the edge.
A few years ago he had asked the ravenette about it, but he couldn't pull a straight answer from him.
"So uhm..you take my left ass cheek and he'll take my right or what?" Which resulted in karasu pushing him off and grabbing your hand before jumping down with you. Something you'd never done before. You'd held hands a bunch but for some reason holding his hand as you jumped felt..different?
You expected him to let go around half way down or once you hit the water, but oddly enough he didn't. He only let go once he saw that you were about to swim to to the surface and let go of you then as you'd need your hand back.
His eyes never seemed to leave your form as you swam to where otoya had landed--and was waiting for you two. For your impractical chicken fight. Something your two friends would not give up, as they were the ones who suggested it a long ass time ago. They liked to call it a 'tradition'.
Breaking the surface of the water, you gasp for the air that your lungs had been deprived of. Karasu popped up beside you, noticing the same thing you had. And for whatever reason you hadn't realized when you jumped..but there wasn't another soul in the lake. The grounds weren't very populated this year.
Something new but you were in no way opposed to it, after all you got the whole lake to yourself--at least for the moment. Swimming over to a more shallow area to where you all could touch, otoya moves his hand to signal you before dipping down under the water.
Shit. He barely warned you? Communication with actual words apparently just doesn't exist anymore.
Jumping on his shoulders, you feel his hands grip the plush of your thighs before resurfacing, causing you to lose your balance a bit and falling forward farther into him. "Ah fuck, sorry." You apologize as your chest offers itself to the back of his head as a pillow and push on his shoulders to pull yourself back up straight.
"Don't apologize." God that smirk on his face..maybe it was his hands gripping your thighs, maybe its the fact you were in your bathing suit on top of his shoulders, no matter what it was--you had to fight the heat that threatened to run rampant. Why was he giving you butterflies anyway?
