𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗦𝗔𝗧 on your bed, uncomfortably shifting at the dead silence that enveloped the room. Or more precisely the whole house.

Nobody was ever home, you didn't have abusive parents by any means they just weren't ever around. Your dad was always out somewhere, you never knew where but you had a decent guess. At some bar with his other unemployed friends. He'd be one of those people who said they 'worked for themselves' when in reality they just can't be bothered to hold down a job.

As for your mother she worked two jobs, to make up for the lack of income that came from your deadbeat dad. She worked from early morning at one and then would head over to work the afternoon to late nights at the other. You barely ever saw either of them.

Which was fine, because more often then not you weren't at your empty home anyway.

Throwing your phone in your pocket, you jump off the bed and walk down stairs to grab your keys. Thankfully a last minute sleep over wasn't a big deal in the slightest. You didn't have to pack, as you already had a bunch of spare clothes that stayed in tabitos dresser next to his. You didn't have to ask permission since there was nobody around to care.

His house had become like a second home. Almost felt more like home then your own.

You'd never been so grateful that your parents weren't around, or else you may not be as good of friends as you are now--if even at all.

Truth be told, it was a rather stupid way to meet. But if your parents hadn't sent you to after school care in your schools gym, who knows if they ever would have come up to you like they did.

You sat there in the gym with the other kids around your age, anywhere from first grade to third--as it wasn't offered to the older kids. You we're in second grade and sat in a circle next to all the other second graders just as you were told.

It was mid way through the year and it seemed like everyone else had been going since the school year started while it was your first day. In other words you were the only fresh face and the only one without a friend.

Once you were all dismissed, you were given the option to either go outside and play or stay inside. The people who chose to stay inside played with their friends..and those who went outside did too. But at least on the playground you had things to do by yourself.

Silently following the other kids to the playground you couldn't help but stare at two of them. For whatever reason you were almost..drawn to them. Maybe it was the blue haired ones--to put it nicely--unusual haircut.

"Get off the bars it's my turn!" The one with the odd haircut complained, trying to pass by his friend on the monkey bars.

"Nu uh! You fell off first.." The boy with white hair and bits of dyed green retorted. "Meaning it's still my turn."

"What does that have to do with anything?!" They angrily collide into each other as you watch from up top the play structure. You were bored and watching them was currently the most entertaining thing in front of you. They're limbs entangle as they keep trying to push each other off, ending up with them both on their ass in bark chips.

But when they got up and brushed themselves off, they weren't angry anymore. Instead they laughed and high fived before running off to the next thing that caught their attention. Your be lying if you said you weren't a bit jealous.

Going down the slide, you decide to stop being weird and watching other people and start playing by yourself like a normal kid.

Halfway down the slide you hear, "Tag!" And simultaneously felt someone smash into your back at full speed, pushing you down to the end of the slide at a much quicker pace then you were previously going. Two people quickly climbed over you from behind laughing and jumping off the slide putting a bit of distance between them and you. "Your it!"

'Huh?' It was the same two boys who you'd been watching earlier. That confusion you felt was just about the same feeling you had when the next day, after playing together for the rest of that afternoon, they found you at lunch--recess and everytime on your way back to class. As you didn't share the same class, anytime you we're out if it, they wouldn't leave you alone.

But it wasn't as though you didn't like it, far from it. As time went by you really did begin to enjoy their company. You were always in the middle of the pair. When you were walking together--you were in the middle of the two. Sitting at lunch, you sat between them. They included you like you were some sort of glue or a puzzle piece.

They stuck to your side as much as they could humanly manage.

And so far your relationship had remained the same throughout your years spent together. But as you entered high school things started to change a bit. But unfortunately that was only 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚.
