AFTER THE SUCCESS of their mission, The Titains earned themselves some down time. So they spent it doing different activities. Idalia took the time to tend to her dragons out back. Aegon, Maegorian and Meraxes felt the absence of their mother due to her time being occupied with training and missions and it made them very anxious and a bit depressed. So Idalia spent most of her day with them.
Garfield and Jaime were playing fuzeball in the main area, Raven decided to meditate, no one knows where Damian went ( her guess, he's leaving to do his own patrolling. He doesn't think she knows, but she does. ), Koriand'r used the simulation room and Dick began investigating on H.I.V.E and this cult called Blood. Apparently, it was almost country wide.
"Aegon!" Idalia giggled as she felt the white dragon playfully nudge the back of her shoulder. She turned her back to keep the garden she made alive when the giant dragon decided to mess with her. "Is that any way to treat your mother?"
Aegon let out a soft growl, blowing a small puff of smoke at her. Causing her hair to blow back a little. She smiled, rubbing his snout gently. Which made Maegorian jealous as he shoved Aegon out the way. Wanting his mother's love.
Aegon growled at his youngest brother for his action. Idalia shook her head. They were constantly bumping heads when it came to getting affection. Meraxes was too busy taking a nap to even care about his two younger brothers fighting.
"Maegorian, Aegon." Idalia said in a slightly stern voice. "No fighting. Remember, we can't have you two burning down the backyard. We live here, now. We should act accordingly."
Both dragons bowed their heads to her, indicating that they were listening. Unbeknownst to her, she was being watched from the tower.
After talking to Koriand'r, Terra became curious about Idalia Ambrosia. From what she heard, she is not human. Which is something Idalia, herself, learned only a year ago. Koriand'r told her that Idalia is actually a celestial demi-goddess. As in, greek demi-goddess. And from what she could see, she must be the demi-goddess of white magic, light and the earth's plant life. Or at least, flowers. She wasn't some regular meta-human.
But what shocked her was when Terra heard that Idalia had dragons. Like actual dragons. And they were living on top of their roof, seeing as it's the only place that can safely house the three flying beasts without over-crowding anywhere else. She didn't believe it when Garfield told her. But the growl that rumbled the entire tower let her know that he wasn't bullshitting.
But seeing it was a whole different league. How were they able to fit on the roof?! And how has no one been eaten by them?! This girl was full of surprises.
"Magnificent, isn't it?" a voice brought her out of her trance. Terra turned to see Raven standing next to her, staring at Idalia.
She had to remind herself that Raven was quiet, making her good at sneaking up on people. "Yeah, I guess." Terra stammered out a little, before turning back to the scene in front of them. "I mean, if you're not afraid of them just going rogue one night. Deciding that we would make a good late night snack."
"You don't have to worry about that." Raven said, shrugging. "They only listen to Dalia. If she wanted any of us burned to ashes, she would have told them to do so, already. They're very devoted to her and only her."
"I would hate to be the person who tries to mess with her, then." Terra joked a little. The two girls watched as Idalia sat on one with the black scale's tail as she weaved together flower crowns.
The other two, the golden one with white accents and the emerald green one with gold accents were busy wrestling each other. The black one with red accents ( the biggest one ) seemed to be enjoying his sleep while allowing her to use him as a resting spot.
And there was Idalia, in her white and floral sundress, allowing the warm breeze to run through her hip length white hair freely. Looking at her, no one would ever guess that she had three dragons at her disposal. She seemed too angelic. Like she looked like she had a golden glow to her wherever she walked. Like a beacon of light.
Something like Apollo, really.
"I agree." Raven mumbled, quietly as she stared at the girl she learned to love like a sister. "Idalia's life is just as complicated as the rest of ours. I mean....just last year, she found out her birth mother is the greek goddess Hecate and her father is a dragon king, both of which are speculated to be dead without evidence."
"I mean I knew it was complicated but I really had no idea." Terra marveled over. Idalia must have major daddy and mommy issues. "Kory said Trigon tried to kill her?"
Raven sighed, thinking about the events of last year. She still felt bad for her own father's actions. Even after Idalia reassured her that it wasn't her fault. She also felt bad that the sins of her mother fell upon her. But she couldn't really blame Hecate. The goddess never loved Trigon, nor did she want to be wedded to him. She'd be pretty pissed if her only child was ripped away from her and sent into hiding because of a demon who had jealousy issues.
"That's another story for another time." She finally answered. She said it so coldly, Terra's eyes shot at her as Raven began to walk away. "It's best to not be too curious. And if you are, you can just ask Dali. She's always willing to talk about it."
Once Terra was alone again, she turned back to Idalia. The white haired demi-goddess was now making a sunflower grow beside her, causing it to dance. Which entertained her dragons.
Terra concluded that she should stay away from Idalia. If she didn't want to be dragon food.
Meanwhile, Dick Grayson went to work in the computer room. He began investigating Brother Blood and H.I.V.E a little more. He turned on the news, listening to the interviews. He was so enamored that he almost didn't hear Damian walk in.
"Grandfather would have been impressed by Blood." He said, walking over to him. "Running a worldwide cult as well as H.I.V.E."
"They're the same thing." Dick informed him. "He just makes them look different."
The older Wayne turned to look at his baby brother, noticing that he was still in his Robin suit. He raised an eyebrow at him. "Do you ever get out of that uniform?"
"Only when I bathe." Damian answered nonchalantly. "And whenever I spend time with Ambrosia."
"You mean conqueror?" Dick corrected him, giving him a teasing smirk. "Already in the pet name stage? How cute."
Damian resisted the urge to flip him off but settled with a glare through his mask. "My relationship with Ambrosia is no one else's business but ours." He reminded him. "Besides, I'm going out."
"I heard you're gone a lot." Dick pointed out. "Where do you go?"
"You do realize that I am not a child who needs permission to go outside, correct?"
"Damian, I wasn't interrogating," He said, raising his hands in defense. "Just taking an interest."
"Oh, I go out on patrol." Damian replied, shrugging a little. "By the way, I should offer congratulations on your cohabitation, Grayson. Starfire has proven herself to be a decent leader. I approve."
Dick smiled at him. His younger brother never really gave out compliments. But when he did, he cherished them. Even if it sounded like a backhanded one. He knew that this was Damian's way of being a younger brother. Even though the concept of having siblings was still very new to him. At least he was trying now.
A few years ago, Damian didn't even get along with Tim long enough to stay in the same room as him and Jason was always a hard shell to crack. It was slow steps but they were getting there.
"Thank you." He thanked sincerely. "And I approve of your relationship with Flower Power."
Damian scoffed a little, giving him a very tiny smirk. "As if I needed your approval, Grayson."
After Idalia allowed her dragons to fly off for their food, she made her way back into the tower to find Damian. She wanted to check in on him, unbeknownst to her, he already left before she could see him off. She knew he never told her of him going out on patrol because he secretly didn't want her to worry about him. Claiming that it annoyed him to see her act like he was a baby.
But he secretly liked when she showed how much she cared about his well-being. He just didn't have the personality trait to outwardly tell her.
Just as she made it to the floor where their rooms were, Idalia felt her necklace began to burn her a little. Which was weird.
"Ah!" She winced a little, quickly picking up the three headed dragon pendant. She frowned as she felt the material burn up a little. The dragon pendant began glowing slightly as it cooled down in her hand.
"What is this?" She whispered to herself, staring at it with pure curiosity. "This has never happened before....."
The pendant's light dimmed down completely, going back to its original color. As if nothing happened. Which only creeped her out even more. Because what just happened? Why did her necklace glow automatically only for it to die down? She had to look into this even more.
"Dragon Mama!" Garfield's happy voice interrupted her thoughts. Making her jump slightly. "You down to go out with us? I convinced Terra to come with Jaime and I. We're gonna try to get him to talk about whatever it is that's bugging him."
She had heard about Jaime's troubles with his family. Of course, all the information she had came from accidentally hearing him talk to his mother in the gym room. But she could tell he missed his family a lot. And she remembered that his blue scarab isn't used to a lot of humans so it was hard for him to get close to others without it wanting to attack it.
Which made him very lonely, in that sense. She also knew better than to pressure someone into talking about something they didn't want to talk about just yet.
"I'm quite alright, Garfield." She politely declined, her still on what her necklace did moments ago. "You three have fun."
Garfield frowned at her distant tone of voice as she passed him by, making her way to her room without sparing him anymore looks or words. He could tell something was really on her mind. He could also feel there was an unspoken tension building in the tower. But if she didn't want to talk yet, he wasn't going to force her.
Thinking about that, he was being a bit hypocritical. But whatever.
Night came by and Idalia wasn't able to sleep. She kept thinking about what her necklace did. While everyone went to sleep, she stayed up. Only dressed in a black long sleeve sweatshirt and grey pajama shorts, she made herself some lavender tea as she had a book about Targaryens on the kitchen island. When she realized her true last name, she asked Aunt Diana about it.
While Diana was also restricted to a lot of the information about the Targaryens, she did manage to find an old book about them and Planet Valyria on Themiscyra. After getting permission to take it, Diana gave it to her during her last visit. Which was about six months ago.
" King Aegon Targaryen IV of Planet Valyria ruled his kingdom at a very early age." She read the pages quietly. "He is described as just king who ruled with an iron fist but loved his people with all of his heart. At the start of his reign, he was only 15 years of age, riding the back of his mighty dragon Balerion, he won wars and fought for his people. Proving to be a fair and gracious king-"
"You're up late."
Idalia let out a soft yelp as she jumped, turning her head to see Damian standing directly behind her. She relaxed once she realized it was him. With a soft glare, she sighed. "Damian, you scared me."
"Why are you up so late?" He asked, ignoring her comment. "You're usually asleep by the time I get back."
Idalia stood up and faced him, raising an eyebrow at him. Her arms were crossed, as well. "Oh, so you sneak out almost every night?"
Damian pursed his lips. He involuntarily snitched on himself to his significant other. His inner turmoil amused Idalia as she let a chuckle escape her pink bee-stung lips. She reached up and gently took off his eye mask.
"Why are you always hiding your eyes from me?" She spoke softly, gazing her lilac eyes into his deep green ones. "Your eyes are enchanting."
"I thought you liked Robin." Damian commented, his voice getting a little deeper as he took a step closer to her. Making her back press against the edge of the kitchen island. "At least more than you like Damian."
"Oh, Damian would not like that you are trying to sway me away from him." She playfully went along with his sarcasm. She sat his mask down on the counter before placing both of her hands on his shoulders. "He is a very jealous young man."
"Good thing I don't mind the fighting." He flirted back, slowly sliding his arms around her waist. Pulling her body closer to his. "Besides, if he has you, I can't help but to steal you away. He can't handle you like I can."
Idalia felt her face grow hot as she sheepishly ducked her face down, feeling her heart race. Damian sure has a way with words. He could probably charm a fish into drowning if he had the chance.
"He can't make you blush like I can," Damian continued, gently raising her face up to look at him by lifting her chin with his gloved knuckle. "And he certainly can't kiss like I can."
"You've never kissed me," Idalia reminded him, smiling at him. "So I have nothing to compare to."
Damian grinned softly at her, his eyes flickering from hers to her lips every few seconds before he leaned his face closer to hers. "Then allow me to show you what you're missing, beloved."
She could only let out a breathy giggle before he pressed his lips onto hers. It was a soft kiss, nothing too outgoing but it made her heart explode into butterflies. This was their first kiss ever. In the while that they have been in the dating stage ( As Dick would call it ), they've only ever really held hands with the occasional flirting. But they have never kissed before.
Then again, they were both very new to relationships and decided that they had all the time in the world to try more romantic gestures. And they have been dating for a year now. Both did decide that if it happened, it would come at the right moment. Which felt like it was now.
Damian deepened the kiss by leaning a little more into her lips, hugging her waist closer to him as she wrapped her arms around his neck. And it wasn't until Idalia accidentally made a line of roses grow out of the kitchen island that they stopped.
She felt the leafy plant on her back and pulled away, turning her head to see roses and vines were decorating the edge of the kitchen island. Which made her blush profusely.
Damian laughed a little, looking at what she did. "Well, well, look at that." He teased, keeping her in his hold. "That always happens when you're with me, conqueror?"
Idalia smacked his chest as he laughed a little louder. "Shut up."
Just then, the entire tower began shaking, interrupting their moment. "What the hell?" Damian mumbled, suddenly on guard mode. He quickly grabbed his mask and placed it back on.
Idalia knew it was Terra. She had been having nightmares ever since she joined the team and it resulted in earthquakes in the middle of the night. Which made her dragons nervous. And like a domino effect, her dragons began roaring loudly on the roof. Not liking that they were woken up.
"It's Terra again." Idalia whispered, highly concerned. Without another word, she broke away from Damian and rushed to her room.
Damian was not far behind.
