Epilogue
Aidan's P.O.V.
That night, I couldn't sleep. Not with what just happened. I got giddy every time I thought about Serena telling me that she wanted to get back together. I loved her so much, and I had no intention of almost losing her again. If anyone tried to lay a finger on her, I would pound them into the ground. I looked down at the beautiful sleeping beauty in my arms as she peacefully slept. She deserved it after the long and exhilarating night we had. Tomorrow was going to perfect, and I intended to make sure that she had the best birthday ever.
Daylight came, and the sun's rays peeked through the blinded windows. "Happy Birthday, angel. I love you so very much," I whispered, planting a kiss on her delicate head. I quietly crept out of bed and got everything set up with the help of my parents, who woke up early to get the room set up. Mom quietly inflated dozens of pink and gold balloons as well as two special balloons shaped into 1 and 7. As they continued getting things set up, I started making breakfast and constantly looked back, hoping that Serena wasn't awake yet.
"Mom, can you taste this?" I asked her quietly. She walked over and took a small bite out of one of the vegan pancakes. "It tastes good, Aidan. I'm sure she's going to love it," After a little while of making breakfast, we had gotten everything officially set up, and Serena was ready to see it. "Serena, time to wake up," I whispered, gently shaking her shoulder. She let out a small groan, looking at me with those beautiful ocean eyes.
"Happy birthday," I smiled. A grin immediately spread across her face, and got out of bed and ran a quick brush through her hair before I opened the bedroom door, and we stepped into the living room as she took in the beautiful setup.
"Oh my gosh!" She breathed, her hands flying to her mouth. "It's beautiful!" Mom and Dad rushed towards her, embracing us in a tight hug. "Happy Birthday, Serena!" They said in unison. "I love you guys!" She muffled. The four of us sat down at the counter, passing each other plates of the birthday breakfast. Hers were rainbow sprinkled vegan pancakes. It took me forever to get the recipe right. But after years of trying, I finally managed to make them perfect.
Her eyes lit up the moment she took a bite, and I was giddy with anticipation as I waited for her reaction. "These are amazing! Aidan, did you make this?" she questioned. "Guilty!" I smiled. Her smile turned into a grin, and she leaned in and kissed me, and we both didn't care if we got a little bit of the coconut cream on our noses. "So, anything exciting happening today?" She asked. I couldn't wait to tell her what I had planned.
First, we were going to get massages at the hotel spa, and she was going to get the special birthday package they had for guests. Then, we were going to go to Starbucks and then to the shopping center, and finally, we were going to Ritz Volos for dinner and come home and have cake and presents.
She let out a loud squeal, and she thanked me so many times, calling me the best boyfriend ever. After breakfast, she walked into the living room wearing one of the dresses she had packed.
She looked so beautiful, and I couldn't help but grin at her. "Is this okay?" She asked. "It's beautiful," I smiled, walking over to her and wrapping my arm around her waist. "Let's get going," I smiled. At the spa, I watched as Serena got pampered and the staff treated her like the queen that she was. I felt proud that I had her as a girlfriend. There was no one else for me.
No one.
Afterward, she looked completely relaxed, and her voice occasionally got squeaky. And I couldn't help but smile when she talked like that. At Starbucks, we both got the mocha frappes, and both ended up getting brain freeze as we raced to see who could finish their drink first. But it was worth it. "I love this birthday so far!" She smiled as we skipped across the shopping center.
Serena's phone starting ringing, and we came to a stop as she began to dig through her purse in search of her phone. Finally, she fished it out and immediately answered it, not bothering to look at the Caller ID. "Hello?" She asked, pressing her free hand to her ear to block out some of the noise. "Yes, this is she," She answered. Almost a second later, her jaw dropped while the voice on the other end said something that I couldn't make out.
"What is it?" I whispered as her eyes averted to me.
I guess we'll have to find out.
To be continued...
