Chapter Twenty Two
Serena's P.O.V.
Robert and Emmy's words stuck by me throughout the weekend, and I had mentally prepared myself to talk to Aidan, hoping that what they had said about Eden forcing herself onto him was true. But at the same time, I was angry. Not at Aidan, but Eden. She knew that we were together, and by forcing herself onto him, if proven true, she had driven a wedge between us. She was a psycho.
Finally, Monday came. I kept praying that the conversation with Aidan would go well and that Eden wouldn't interfere with it if she was with him. As we walked onto the set, I saw Aidan sitting in one of the actor's chairs with his laptop. His eyes met mine for a moment before I looked away and walked over to T.J's trailer. "T.J, did you see anything at the pool?" I asked as she changed into her Young Vanya costume. "Nothing really, why do you ask?" She asked.
"I was thinking about talking to Aidan to find out what exactly happened with him and Eden," She looked up at me with a mixed look of what appeared to be disgust but also uncertainty. "You going to talk to him after what he did? You're just asking for trouble at that point," She shook her head. "I know it sounds stupid, but after Robert and Emmy talked to me about what Aidan had told them, I'm starting to doubt what happened. Maybe he isn't the cheater I thought he was," I explained.
I pulled out my phone and showed her the text exchange between the three of us, and her eyes went wide when she read the explanation. "Are you sure you want to do this? If he cheated on you and wants to talk to you about what happened, You might get angry at him," She asked cautiously. "Yes, I'm sure," I nodded. Just then, the trailer door opened, and I heard one of the directors call out her name and told her they needed her. "See you soon," T.J said before shutting the door.
The minutes began ticking by as I worked on the outro for one of my songs. After about an hour, I took a break and looked through the minifridge for something to eat. Just then, T.J. came back into the trailer and told me that the crew was having some lighting issues and that it would be a while until they got it fixed. This was a good chance to talk to Aidan as any. "Thanks, let's hope that the talk with Aidan goes well," I said, walking to the door. "So, if he's telling the truth, are you going to get back with him?" She asked.
Hearing her ask that stopped me in my tracks. Over the weekend, I gave it some thought. But until I knew for certain, we were still broken up. I shrugged at her before walking out and walking across the lot to Aidan's trailer. As I approached the door, I took a deep breath, pondering what his reaction would be when I wanted to talk to him. I gently knocked on the metal door, loud enough for the people inside to hear. It opened, and Aidan's eyes immediately went wide when he saw me.
"Hi Aidan," I said, meeting his emerald eyes. "S-Serena, I thought you weren't going to talk to me again," He stuttered. "I wasn't. But after what Robert and Emmy told me, I figured I should find out what really happened. Can I come in?" He slowly nodded and opened the door enough for me to come inside and sit down on the sofa. He took a seat next to me and handed me a bottle of water from the fridge.
"So, how have you been?" I asked, trying to break the awkwardness. "Serena, listen to me. Everything I'm going to tell you is 100% the truth. It might be hard for you to believe, but I want to assure you that I'm telling the truth," Aidan assured. "How can I trust you?" I asked before letting out a small sigh. "I've been honest with you since we met, haven't I? I wouldn't be lying about this now,"
He did have a point there, and I told him that it was okay to go on and tell me. Surprisingly, everything that he had said had matched with what Robert and Emmy told me. Maybe he was the victim in the situation. Maybe he is telling the truth. "Serena. I can imagine it was hard for you to see that. Honestly, if I saw some other guy making out with you, I would've been pretty pissed off too," Aidan said, placing a hand on my shoulder.
I was silent for a while, trying to ponder everything I heard. Eden was most likely doing this to brainwash him into falling out of love with me so they could back together. This was even more difficult to comprehend than trying to find out why he and Hannah broke up before we first met. "So, what are your thoughts?" Aidan asked. "I don't know, Aidan. It's a lot to take in. I called you a cheater even though you were the complete victim in this. I am so sorry that I called you that,"
Aidan placed both hands on my shoulders, telling me to look into his eyes. "It's okay. Now you know the truth. Take all the time you need to think about this. And if you don't want to get back together, that is 100% okay. But I want to be there in your life even if I'm just a foster brother to you," I was about to open my mouth to say something, but before I could, I heard the door of the trailer open, and when the person came into view, my blood quickly began to boil.
