Chapter Thirty One
Serena's P.O.V
After the concert, I held a meet and greet with my fans. Even Aidan and the cast got in on the fun and took pictures with them too. As I finished taking a picture with a fan, a familiar face came into view, and I saw it was the girl I saw at the mall when I was getting my outfit. "Hi! It's so great to see you again!" I smiled at the strawberry blonde. "Nice to see you too!" She smiled. She then asked me to sign her t-shirt and take a photo with her, which I gladly accepted.
I loved the fans, and without them, I don't know where I would be. As the meet and greet came to an end, Aidan took my hand and leaned in close to my ear. "Hey, when we get back to the hotel, can we talk?" he asked. "Yeah, of course," I nodded. Aidan's parents took a separate Uber to the hotel while Aidan and I got one together, telling them that we'd see them soon. Aidan held the small white box containing the cake in his lap. I only got a brief chance to look at it when we were onstage, but from the quick glance, it looked freaking delicious.
"Did you like the surprise?" Aidan asked, looking over at me as I glanced out the window. "Yes, that was so sweet of you!" I answered, looking over and sliding my hand into his. His cheeks began to turn deep pink as a grin spread across his face. We pulled up to the hotel a few minutes later. The neon lights in the fountain were lit as we walked to the building. Suddenly, I felt Aidan pick me up by my waist and hoist me into his arms as he struggled to open the door.
He continued carrying me until we got to the elevator, and he put me down as the elevator doors closed. But once we made it back to the hotel room, he picked me up and carried me inside like we were newlyweds on our honeymoon. Somehow, the cake in the box was still intact after all that carrying, and only the box was slightly damaged. "We're so proud of you, Serena. You did phenomenal tonight," Aidan smiled, pecking my cheek.
We gathered around the table and began to cut the cake, each taking a delicious slice. "Mm, you guys did a great job with picking out the cake," I smiled, looking over at Aidan. "This is just for tonight. The real one is coming tomorrow," Lauren smiled, wiping the corner of her mouth with her napkin. "Can't wait to see it, Mom," Everyone in the room stopped eating and looked over at me with wide eyes. "S-Serena, did you just call me M-Mom?" Lauren asked. I smiled at them and nodded furiously.
She let out a happy sob and rushed over to my side of the counter, embracing me tightly. I had been wanting to call them Mom and Dad for a while, and this seemed to be the perfect time to call them that. They could never replace my biological parents. But they were like a second family to me, and I was happy to have them. I felt Aidan hug my side, and soon after that, Dad hugged my other side, engulfing us in our first family sandwich.
After eating the cake, I started to feel my eyelids get heavy after the long night I had and decided to turn in for the night. The makeup was a pain in the ass to get off as I tried to rub it off with one of the white towels but to no avail. I turned around to ask Mom for some makeup remover wipes, but I saw Aidan standing in the doorway with something hidden behind his back.
"Happy birthday," he said, pulling out a familiar black box. I looked up at him with questioning eyes as he silently told me to open it. I complied, and inside, I saw the silver locket that I gave back to him when we broke up. "T-this is the locket," I stuttered, looking up at him as the delicate chain wrapped around my fingers. "I know. I wanted to give it back to you tomorrow, but I figured now is a good time as any," He explained, slowly walking towards me. I couldn't help but smile as he helped me to put the necklace back on. "But wait, does that mean we're back together?" I asked.
I could tell by the look on his face that he hadn't thought about that. He shrugged as he continued to smile. "Your answer is all that matters," He responded. I could never get rid of him even if I tried, we were destined to be together, and nobody, not even our enemies, would get in our way.
"Yes, Aidan Ryan Gallagher, I want to get back together with you," I answered, chuckling the longer I looked at him. Immediately he wrapped his arms around me, planting butterfly kisses on my neck the longer we stayed together. "I. Love. You. Serena." He muffled, punctuating each word with another soft kiss on my neck. He pulled away, eagerly waiting to hear if I was going to say the same.
"I love you too, Aidan," I smiled, leaning in to kiss his soft lips.
