Chapter Eight

Serena's P.O.V.

"How did it go today?" Aidan asked in the Uber on the way back to the hotel. "It was good. I spent most of the time talking to T.J and Cameron," I answered as I looked through my phone to see T.J. comment on some of my older posts. "Did you tell them about your past?" Aidan asked. My past, that was what we called it, calling it anything else, would bring my mind back to that dark place. "No. I'm trying to forget about it, remember?" I said, looking over to him.

The Uber pulled up to the hotel, and we got out and headed to our room. To our surprise, Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher weren't there. But there was a note on the counter in their place. "What does it say?" I asked as I took off my coat, and Aidan walked over to the counter. "Aidan and Serena, we went out to dinner tonight. You guys can order something when you get back from set. We'll be home around ten. No funny business! Love, Mom," Aidan read out, handing me the note when he finished. "So, what are you thinking?" I asked.

"There's a restaurant called The Hogtown Vegan if you want to try it. It's pretty good!" he suggested. Almost an hour later, there was a knock on our hotel door, and the Postmates guy handed us three food boxes, and Aidan paid him while I checked who's food was who's. One of the perks about being part of Aidan's family was that they never forced me to become vegan like them. They knew I had a few foods I liked with meat in them, but they never judged me for it.

"You know, we haven't had a meal together like this in so long. It's quite nice!" I smiled as Aidan reached over and took a few fries. "I know. I think the last time was when we first hung out together at Veggie Grill. You remember that?" He smiled. I remembered it clear as day, and it felt like it had happened yesterday. I chuckled at the thought of how tight I was squeezing Aidan's waist as we drove back to his house on his bike. "Yeah, it's probably one of my favorite memories," I answered, meeting his gaze.

After dinner, I put the leftovers in the fridge, and as I about to head to our room, I saw Aidan's figure was standing out on the large balcony. The full moon was out, and the stars were twinkling all at once. I stood in that doorframe for a while before he finally took notice and reached his hand out to me, inviting me to join him. I took it, and we walked until we were nearly touching the glass railing and looking at the sky.

"It's so beautiful out here," I barely whispered. "You never see stars like this back in Los Angeles," he wrapped a hand around my waist, pulling me slightly close to him. "You always know how to say the right words," I chuckled softly. It felt a little weird, feeling Aidan's chiseled body behind me, but at the same time, it felt so relaxing, and I wanted to lean on him and rest my head in the center of his chest, the same way we did on that plane.

"I told you were going to have some fun, didn't I?" Aidan said, breaking the silence. "You did, and this is perfect. It's just you, me, and the city of stars," I said, looking at him. "I felt it from the first embrace I shared with you. That now our dreams, they've finally come true," he sang softly, knowing that was one of my favorites songs from La La Land. He continued singing softly into my ear, and I kept glancing over at him, wanting to kiss those soft lips. I wanted those three little words to come out so badly, but something kept pulling me back.

But before I could get a clear image of what it was, Aidan crashed his soft lips onto mine. "Serena," Aidan whispered when we pulled apart. "Aidan," I whispered back, looking at his lips for a moment before meeting his emerald eyes in the darkness. The hotel room door opened, and we heard Aidan's parents walk in and come out onto the balcony. "What are you two doing out here?" Mrs. Gallagher asked. "Just watching the stars," I answered, a smile spread across my face. Thank God the moon was covered by clouds, or else they would've seen the glow in my cheeks.

Mrs. Gallagher walked back inside, and Aidan and I quickly pecked each other's lips before heading inside as well.

A/n: Fun fact, this balcony scene was inspired by a real life event in my own love life! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed! Stay tuned for the next chapter!
