๐–ฒ๐—Ž๐–ป๐—ƒ๐–พ๐–ผ๐— ๐– 2

I woke up in a metal box, accelerating upwards.

I didn't know who I was.

I felt lost.

I started screaming, hoping for someone to hear me. I started banging on the sides, my throat starting to become sore and rough.

Then the box started to accelerate. I fell downwards from the force.

The doors on the top opened, allowing me to see light, along with boys, surrounding the box.

Someone jumped into the box with a loud bang.

"Day one, Greenie. Rise and shine."

I shielded my eyes away from the burning light, sharp contrast to the constant darkness that was the box.

I felt myself being lifted up and thrown onto the ground.

"Hey now, Gally. Little rough, there are we?" Spoke a low baratone voice.

A bald, black male walked into my view of site, I assume he was the one to have spoken.

"Nah, I don't think so. Greenie should learn early on, life's rough."

"Maybe, but he just woke up, so give him a break. You're being an ass," said the bald man.

"The names Alby," spoke who he now identified as Alby. "What's yours, Greenbean."

"I-I don't know."

I already knew that I didn't remember anything, but having to say it out loud, made it all the more real.

I was also confused by his words. Both of theirs actually.

What was Greenbean and Greenie?

"That's fine. Most of us don't. It's normal. You'll be fine as soon as you calm down and get used to life in the Glade."

This brought on an onslaught of questions.

"What do you mean it's normal? What is the Glade? Why are there giant stone walls surrounding this place? Why can't I remember anything? Wha-"

"Slow down there Greenie!" He chuckles.

By then Alby had most of the other boys cleared out, so it was just Alby and I, along with a tall Asian dark haired male, and a tall and lanky blonde haird male with deep brown eyes.

"To answer your first question, I was the first here around three years ago. The Glade is this place. We've all pitched in to make it like this, and as soon as you're settled in, I excpect you to do the same."

I couldn't explain why, but I felt comfortable with Alby. I felt safe, mostly.

As safe as you can feel when you wake up in a box, surrounded by a bunch of boys with no memory, anyways.

Alby helped me up and introduced me to the two people that were still there.

"This one is Newt. He's my second-in-command," he said pointing to the blonde. "If you ever have any questions, and I'm not available, or you can't find me, you ask him. This is Minho," he said pointing to the buff Asian. "He is the Keeper of the Runners."

"Runners. What are those?" I asked.

"Ah... that is... well, we'll answer those questions once you get settled in, yeah?"

I was hesitant, but overall decided, he had heloed ever since I got out of that retched box, so the least I could do, was stop asking questions.

For now.

"Hey! Chuckie! Come over here, I want you to show the new Greenie around."

A chubbie little 12-year-old, made their way over to them.

"Hiya there! My names Chuck, what's yours? Oh wait, don't answer that, forgot that you fogort your name and everything else! Don't worry, it'll all come back soon enough! And maybe, if you're lucky, you'll even get it back tonight!"

I realized he was a hyperactive, little kid, and felt a primal urge to protect him.

Alby looked exasperated, as if he was about to say something to Chuck, but I just smiled and laughed.

"Well," I bent down to his height level. "I mean, I'm gonna need all ths luck I can get then. Maybe you can help me with that? Show me around, yeah?" I continued with a smile.

"Yeah!" He practically yelled. Then quieted himself and repeated quieter, "Yeah."

"Oh look, I can show you were we all sleep, you'll get assigned a hammock soon enough, probably tonight after the party! Oh yeah, they probably didn't mention the party did they? There's always a party in honor of every Greenie!"

I just smiled at him and quietly chuckled at his antics while he lead me away by the arm.

I looked back and waved at them with a smile before turning back and paying attention to Chuck.

๐–ฒ๐—Ž๐–ป๐—ƒ๐–พ๐–ผ๐— ๐– 5

I looked over at the new Greenie.

He was beautiful.

There were a lot of boys in the Glade that were cute, but he was beautiful.

His whiskey brown eyes, tan skin, and with all the sweat that had soaked through his clothes, you could see his subtle abs.

A lot of the boys were looking at the new Greenie in a way that doesn't incline you to think it's innocent but Alby had sent them all away after Gally had thrown him around like a rag doll.

Minho and I had stayed, and I had a sneaking suspicion that it was for a similar reason to my own.

Alby had started talking to him, and he was a very curious Greenie.

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Then Alby had called Chuck over after introducing Minho and I, and Chuck got over excited.

He was an amazing and adorable kid but he got very hyper sometimes and while the whole Glade loved him, we all could get a little exasperated.

Alby was about to reprimand Chuck when the Greenie did something that surprised us all. He threw his head back and laughed.

"Well," he started talking. It was the first time I had clearly heard his voice. He bent down to Chuck's height level and continued. "I mean, I'm going to need all the luck I can get then. Maybe you can help me with that? Show me around, yeah?"

The Greenie may not have noticed because he had just met Chuck, but after being with him for a month, all three of us could tell that his smile had brightened that much more.

Chuck started dragging the new Greenie, rapidly talking to him.

If I was the Greenie, I would've snapped already. I know when I first came into the Glade, I had snapped at Alby multiple times.

But he just smiled and chuckled while keeping up with Chuck's surprisingly fast speed.

The Greenie turned back to us and smiled while he waved.

I smiled back but my breath caught.

And I heard Minho's too.
