Moon didn't own any fancy dresses. For one, her family could never afford one, and two, she's never thought she needed one. She didn't want to waste her's or anyone else's money on something that she thought she was never going to wear, but now, she wishes she did, because she doesn't have anything to wear for Katherine's award. "What's happened?" Jackie asks Moon, who is lying face down on her bed.

"I don't have anything to wear" Moon says, lifting her head from her bed "I don't own any fancy dresses."

"Luckily for you, I do" Jackie says opening her wardrobe, getting a light purple corset dress out, knowing purple is Moon's favourite colour "My mom designed this dress last year and gave it to me, but I never thought it was my thing."

"Jackie" Moon says with a smile as she gets up to get a closer look at the dress "It's... it's beautiful."

"And now it's yours" Jackie says with a smile.

"Jackie, it was from your mom" Moon says, feeling a bit guilty "I-I-I couldn't."

"Just think of it as a thank you present for everything you've done for me since I moved here" Jackie says as Moon still feels guilty "Honestly, Moon, I want you to have it. Now try it on."

"Okay" Moon says with a smile before Jackie turns around so Moon can put the dress on "So, how does it look?" Moon asks, making Jackie turn back around.

"Moon, that dress was made for you" Jackie says with a smile, making Moon smile back, but as she was going to say something back there was a knock at the door.

"Are you two decent in there?" The voice of Isaac shouts through the door, making Moon and Jackie smile at each other.

"We're good, Isaac" Jackie says, making Isaac open the door, staring at Moon with wide eyes. He had never seen Moon so dressed up before, but looking at her now, he didn't know why she hadn't before.

"Moon, you look..." Isaac starts to say, trying to think of a word he could use "You look beautiful."

"Thank you" Moon says with a smile "You look great too."

"Oh, um, Jackie, Alex is wanting to know if you're ready" Isaac tells Jackie.

"Tell him I'll just be a minute" Jackie says with a smile "Thanks Isaac."

"No problem" Isaac says with a smile, before giving Moon one last glance and leaving the room.

"See, Isaac agrees with me" Jackie says with a smile before picking up the extra credit work for Cole.

"You know Alex will not be happy when he realises you lied to him about the extra credit work?" Moon asks Jackie "You should have just told him."

"I was nervous, okay?" Jackie tells Moon "Alex and Cole already hate each other, I don't want them to be arguing over some extra credit work."

"I wouldn't use the word 'hate', I would say they strongly dislike each other" Moon tells Jackie "But Alex will be more annoyed that you lied to him. If you just told him that your teacher gave you extra credit work to give to Cole, who you live with, I don't think Alex would have cared that much."

"I'm going to put this in Cole's room" Jackie says to Moon, leaving her in the room by herself.

TIME SKIP BY JACKIE AND MOON BEING BESTIES

Moon had never seen the Walter siblings being so sensible in her life. Normally they are all being idiots for some reason, but right now they're actually being not idiots. Moon knew it was because it was for Katherine, but it still made her feel like something bad was going to happen. And Moon was right when Cole showed up, stumbling through the door. "Maybe you should stick with water, Cole" Alex tells his older brother, who sits down with a glass of wine.

"Maybe you should keep your opinions to yourself, Alex" Cole tells him with a sarcastic smile.

"Maybe you should both quietly eat your dessert" Jackie adds on, not wanting them to cause a scene "For your mom's sake."

"Can I please have some?" Isaac asks Moon as he's been eyeing her dessert since he finished his.

"No" Moon tells Isaac with a glare "This dessert is mine."

"Come on, please?" Isaac asks as he tries to get some, but Moon moves her dessert away from Isaac and closer to Lee "Sharing is caring."

"Not when it comes to food" Moon tells Isaac, who is still trying to steal Moon's dessert "Lee, can you tell your brother to stop trying to steal my food?"

"You have your own, bro" Lee tells Isaac "Not her fault you ate yours so quickly."

"I was hungry, okay?" Isaac tells Lee before trying to get some of Moon's dessert again "Come on, just let me have a little."

"I don't care" Moon tells Isaac "You've already had yours so you're not having mine as well."

"Just leave Moon alone" Lee tells Isaac "She's actually eating her food so don't try to steal it. You know what she's like when it comes to food."

"Hey. Hey. Just take mine" Cole says to Isaac, giving his little cousin his dessert "I'm not hungry."

"See, at least someone is nice" Isaac says, playfully glaring at Lee and Moon.

"Dr Katherine Walter" A man says into the microphone, making Moon jump a little bit "Dr Walter has run her clinic for over fifteen years, and works tirelessly to ensure that the animals and their owners receive the best care possible. Now, without further ado, Dr Katherine Walter" He says as everyone starts clapping as Katherine walks over to the microphone.

"Thank you" Katherine says with a smile as she gets given her reward "Thank you, Damon. That was really sweet. It's so unexpected, and, um, it just means so much to me, so thank you. Thank you so much" She says, making everyone clap again "So when I was taking premed, I thought my future lay in taking care of pampered house cats and lapdogs and the occasional alligators of Manhattan. But then I met my husband, George, who swept me off my feet and into..."

"That's enough" Will says to Cole, who was getting a flask of alcohol out.

"Hey, relax, okay?" Cole whispers back to Will "It's like a party."

"Cole, it's your mom's night, so please, don't ruin it by being drunk" Moon whispers to Cole "No more alcohol."

"And you don't ruin it by being boring" Cole whispers back to Moon "A few drinks won't hurt anyone" He whispers, making Moon glare at him in return, not wanting to cause an argument.

"I found myself on a beautiful path" Katherine says as Moon starts listening to her speech again "I really count myself so lucky to have a vocation, to have a community and a family..."

"She founds good up there" Cole says loudly, making all of his siblings and cousins look at him in disappointment.

"Cole, pull yourself together" Will tells Cole, making Cole go to stand up.

"Cole, sit down" Jackie says, holding onto Cole's shoulder.

"Jackie, I gotta hit the head" Cole tells Jackie "You can tell me what I missed when I get back, unless, you know, you wanted to help."

"Cole, come on" Will says, trying to pull Cole back down to the seat, but Cole pushes Will off of him.

"Give me a break, man. Jeez" Cole says to Will before going to walk away, but bumps into a waiter, which makes everyone look over at him "Why are you walking around in the middle of her speech? She's trying to talk. Turn around please, she's still talking."

"He's being such a dickhead right now" Moon whispers to Isaac, who nods in agreement.

"Moon, can you come and help me please" Will whispers to Moon "We got to get him out of here."

"Yeah, sure" Moon says with a small smile as she gets up and walks over to Cole "What are you doing?" She asks Cole, taking the glass of wine out of his hands "This is your mom's night and you're ruining it by being a drunken dickhead. You're being selfish, Cole. So, please, do your mom a favour and either sober up or leave."

"Outside. Now." Jackie says sternly to Cole as she walks over, making Cole turn around and walk out as Jackie follows him.

"I'll make sure they're okay" Will says, following them out, making Moon go and sit back in her seat.

"You okay?" Isaac asks Moon, who just nods her head in frustration "You sure?"

"I'm good" Moon says with a small smile "Just pissed off at Cole."

"Aren't we all?" Alex asks his best friend.
