Chapter 34

Two Days Ago...

"Daisy I um... I need a favor from you." Iris said as I turned to look at her. The look on her face told me it was serious, so I guess it worried me a little.

"Sure. What's up?" I asked with a small smile as she rubbed her hands together, looking down at her shoes for a moment.

"My uh... My mom. She-she doesn't have much time left and honestly... I don't know if I can say goodbye on my own." Iris informed as I crossed my arms, nodding slowly. "Can-Can you come with?"

"Y-yeah. Yeah of course, Iris. Are we leaving now?" I asked as she nodded. Grabbing my coat, we walked out of CCPN, the place I still had yet to quit my job from. Maybe that's why my name wasn't on the by-line. Because I quit and went back to working at CCPD.

"So  Iris... I'm thinking about quitting my job at CCPN and going back to work at CCPD. What do you think?" I said as she turned to me, shrugging.

"Well... It's always nice to see you when you do show up to work." She admitted with a small chuckle. "But I always thought you and Barry worked great together. And I kind of miss working on the Flash..." She said, giving me a side eye as I chuckled and sucked in a cold breath.

"Yeah. I did end up taking that from you... I guess journalism wasn't my thing. I've always been interested in Barry's line of work." I said as Iris nodded, walking into the Hospital.

"Hello. What can I do for you ladies?" The nurse at the front desk asked as as Iris let out a shaky breath.

"H-Hi um... We're here to see Francine West." Iris said as the nurse smiled and nodded, giving us visitor passes.

"Room 1334 A." She answered as Iris and I nodded, making out way to the elevator.

"You nervous?" I asked quietly as she nodded quickly.

"I didn't think I'd ever be saying goodbye to my mom, Daisy. I never said goodbye to her when she first left..." Iris admitted as I nodded slowly, the elevator doors opening as we started our search for Francine's room.

"To be honest, I thought the nurse would say 'family only!' or something rude like that." I said with a small chuckle as Iris chuckled quietly as well. At least I got a chuckle out of her. It released some tension.

"Oh... Iris I found it." I said as Iris stopped walking and turned to me, looking at the closed door with a large square window looking into the room. I could practically feel Iris' body tension change. She grew more nervous with each step she took towards me and the door.

"You don't have to do it if you aren't comfortable, Iris." I said and gently took her hand in mine. She shook her head quickly, taking in a breath.

"No. No. Me and my mom need to have... Closure. I need to apologize for the way I acted towards her when she came back." Iris said as she raised her hand to the door, hesitating before knocking gently.

A weak 'come in' came from the other side, Iris opening the door slowly. "Iris..." Francine said with a very weak smile as we both walked in. "You brought a visitor." She said, coughing dryly as iris and I sat next to one another.

"Um... Francine this is Daisy." Iris said as I smiled awkwardly. Francine looked at me for a moment before a small face of realization hit her.

"This is the girl you were telling me about?" Francine said with a joking look as Iris' eyes widened.

"So I guess I'm a hot topic in this room?" I joked with a small chuckle as Iris turned to me, smiling awkwardly.

"Iris was talking about you and Barry the last time she visited..." Francine said before coughing. "You three have been friends for a long time..." She continued as I pressed my lips together and nodded.

"20 years. Technically only 4 if you don't count the years where we didn't talk because I moved..." I said before shutting my mouth.

"Um... Daisy I-I think I got this now..." Iris said as I turned to her and raised a brow.

"You sure?" I asked as she nodded slowly. I turned to Francine, giving her a small smile. "It was nice meeting you, Francine. I-" My phone started to beep before I could finish my sentence, a S.T.A.R. Labs emergency. I stood up quickly, staring at my phone. "Sorry, um... An emergency at work.. I-I gotta go."

"It's alright. Me and Iris will be here. It was nice to finally meet you, Daisy." Francine said as I smiled and nodded. I quickly walked out of the hospital room. Looking around to make sure no one was around, I dashed out of the hospital and back to S.T.A.R. Labs.

Today

"He can't... Phase his way out, right?" I asked, crossing my arms as I stared at the security camera in the cell that held Eobard Thawne. The man I despised more than glitter. Barry shook his head in answer.

"It's the same cell we used to keep Dr. Wells in last year." He said as I nodded. Suddenly, Barry started to walk out of the Cortex.

"Woah! Barry where are you going?" I asked as he turned to me.

"I'm going down there." He answered bluntly as I scoffed.

"No. You aren't. The more he learns about you, the more you will alter the time line." I said as he fummed.

"He killed my mom!" Barry yelled as I frowned at him for a moment.

"He is from the future, Barry. He hasn't done that yet." Harry said as I nodded.

"Shit, Barry. He doesn't even know that you're the Flash!" I said as he nodded slowly. "We need to make sure it stays that way." I continued as Cisco turned to Jay.

"You already said that his mother's gonna die no matter what we do?" He asked Jay as he nodded.

"There's ramifications any time anybody messes with the time line, and it's impossible to predict what those ramifications are going to be. Barry, you already stopped him from killing McGee. In my book, that's a win." Jay said as Barry rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, well it doesn't seem like a win to me." Barry argued as Caitlin pulled Jay aside.

"Barry..." I said as I pulled him out of the Cortex. "I-I know it's hard... To fight the urge to just shove your hand through his heart. I mean... I wanted to do it when he returned, and- I looked into his eyes.. and-and I saw nothing but a monster... I couldn't even see a human in his eyes because I just.. I knew what he was capable of. I couldn't see him as a living and breathing human. I still didn't have the strength to kill him, Barry. After everything he has done to us, to you, I still couldn't kill him. Even if I did kill him, what would that do?" I said as Barry looked at his feet.

"Barry. I love you. So much. And... I know you want this man in the pipelines to suffer a fate way worse than death... But it won't bring her back. It won't solve our problems... I mean.. Eddie- he... killed himself to stop this from happening. And that son of a bitch is still here, walking and running around like he owns the damn place." I finished as Barry looked at me, a sad expression on his face.

"I just... I want him gone. We already have to deal with Zoom and-..." Barry trailed off as I hugged him.

"We all do, Barry. We will figure out how to get him out of here without revealing your name." I said as he nodded, kissing the top of my head before breaking the hug, walking back into the Cortex.

"Actually, I'm going to go help Cisco down in the pipelines. I'll be back." I said, running out of the room and into the pipelines where Cisco was, before walking normally.

"Oh. Daisy. There you are." Cisco said as I smiled awkwardly, nodding.

"Daisy. It's been a while." Eobard said as I glared at him.

"Wish it was longer." I admitted as he faked a frown before chuckling. "How the hell do you even know my name? Well, before Cisco said it."

"I have my ways... I prefer to say it later." He said as I crossed my arms.

"Okay, another question. How did you get your suit into your ring?" I asked as he chuckled, looking at the ground before back at me.

"You can figure that out yoursel0, just like I told Cisco." He said with an evil grin as I frowned.

"Damn. You really are mean." I said as I nudged Cisco's shoulder, silently telling him it was time for him to leave.

"Bye, Felicia." Cisco said before leaving.

"You know, I can't wait to see the Flash's face. Maybe then I will figure out his name. And speak of the devil. You must be the Flash." Eobard said as I spun around, staring a Barry, who stood in the hallway.

"Why do you hate me so much?" Was all Barry asked as he walked up to me and the cell.

"I didn't always hate you. I was... obsessed with you. I wanted to be just like you. For so long, I wanted to be The Flash. I spent years figuring out how you came to be. Duplicated the reaction... And it worked."

"You became a speedster." I said quietly as Eobard snapped his fingers and nodded.

"I became exactly like you." Eobard said to Barry as he crossed his arms.

"So what happened?" I asked as Eobard turned to me.

"This ability to travel through time revealed a truth. My fate was to become your greatest enemy." Eobard said with a grin as Barry's fists clenched, causing me to grab them, which Eobard quickly noticed.

"I was never going to be the Flash. So I became the Reverse of everything that you were. The more people you saved, the more you loved..." Eobard said as he gestured to our hands, which were now interlocked. "... The more I took from you." He finished with a grin.

"Is that why you killed my mother?" Barry grumbled as Eobard chuckled like a maniac. "That's why you ruined my life? Because you couldn't be better than me?!" I squeezed Barry's hand as a way to calm him down, which worked for a moment.

"I AM THE ONE THING YOU CAN'T STOP, FLASH!" Eobard yelled as I flinched from him hitting the glass, Barry shaking his head.

"No. Not anymore. Our race, is finally over. You lost." Barry said with a grin as Eobard snickered.

"I've learned what time period you are from, Flash. And soon..." Eobard couldn't stop chuckling.

"I'll learn your name."
